We travel to Vieques frequently to visit friends and to enjoy the beach. This time we visited on occasion of a Sporting Clays tournament, and our usual go-to place was full. What a pleasant surprise to have found this place! The rooms have a very nice, authentic Puertorrican contemporary beach feel, not like other places that feel like Hawaii or any other generic Caribbean style. Very comfortable bed and pillows, functional but small bathroom, and best of all a quiet place to be able to rest in comfort. We were all greeted warmly on arrival and any questions were answered knowledgeably. A small pool in the property would be a great addition, as this is the only amenity that is missing from this lovely place. Will definitely be back!

This is our third visit to Vieques staying at Villa Coral. It is very clean, reasonably priced, good location close to activity but in quiet neighborhood, owners are great, and wifi helps keep up with flights or other travel arrangements. Looking forward to next year.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights last week. We really enjoyed the Villa Coral and would recommend it. If you don't want to be a on the main drag (we didn't!) it's a ten minute walk through a lovely (and safe) neighborhood. We frequented the nearby Colmado Lydia grocery store to stock the fridge with food/drinks. The owners were very helpful in organizing our daily outings, whether it be renting kayaks or ordering us transport to the ferry terminal. We spent a lot of time out on the veranda in the front of the guesthouse. We found it was a perfect place to sip on rum & cokes or enjoy our morning coffee.

Room Tip: Our room (number 2) overlooked the public veranda. So sometimes we had folks sitting right outside b...

My wife and I spent 6 nights on Vieques the first week in March. A shared taxi van for $7 per person took us right to our hotel in Esperanza, the Villa Coral Guesthouse. This guesthouse is not on the beach and is a 10-minute walk to the northern edge of town, but it was a pleasant walk and always interesting because of the wild horses, dogs, chickens, and occasional iguanas. A good choice for us at only $85 per night. The room was clean, nicely and simply decorated. There wasn’t much of a view from the room we had, but there was a convenient patio on the second floor (our floor) and a rooftop patio as well. There’s a view of the island to the east and the sunrises and sunsets were warm and pleasant. Not much of a view of the ocean, but it didn’t matter. We saw plenty of beaches during our visit.

Some more pleasant surprises at the hotel: our room was equipped with two camping chairs we could take to the beach; two towels they were happy to change; a cooler bag (for the beach), and a fridge. A community kitchenette—with coffeepot, microwave, and assorted plates and utensils—was available steps away on the patio. The roosters didn’t bother us a bit, nor the horses or the dogs. We got lost walking around town once or twice and never had trouble. Most important, the staff was super pleasant and the maid service friendly, tidy, and efficient. Mireya and Annette (owners?) could not have been more friendly and helpful during check-in, and everyone (thank you, Tiny!) was informative and attentive when we had questions about activities and reservations. If you want to make sure you’re not annoyed by the night life and bustle on the Malecon, we highly recommend Villa Coral.

I really wanted to give more stars... but some points important to me make me like noise, bed and location made me remove some stars and give a mixed review
We stayed on room number 5

PROS:
- The guesthouse looks like new, I think was just refurbished
- The room was big
- There was a fridge, microwave is on common area
- Helpful and friendly owners and staff

CONTRAS
- Very loud air conditioning, we were lucky that was chilly at night so we used just the ceiling fan. But we could not leave it on for more than 5 mins
- Wifi only worked on the common area above the reception, so you will be eaten by the mosquitos, maybe if you are in the rooms in the front you can get the wifi
- The neighbor roasters!!! They started making noise around 5:00am every day and sometimes at night also. I know this is not a guesthouse fault, but we could not sleep well because of the noise
- Our bathroom light was burned and when I asked to fix it they gave me a light bulb instead of changing it! Kkkkk I could not change it as it looked like glued and no one changed it for us, so we took showers on the dark…
- Location, it is up on a very steep hill and quite far from the restaurants, if you have a car that is not a problem (but cars are scarce and expensive on the island, also there are some histories of people being forced to pay fees for rays and damages on cars, that is why we avoided renting one there)
- The bed was soft want hurt our backs (were are not heavy, I have 80kg and my wife 60kg)

Room Tip: get the rooms on the side away from the roasters, could be less noisy

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed about your mixed experience. Our goal is to always please our guests and to make their Vieques experience a memorable one.

We regret that you found our location to be distant from restaurants. We can understand how walking back and forth with a baby in your arms would make it seem longer. For a couple with a young infant like yours, we would certainly recommend renting a car. It is truly a 10 minute walk and we never advertise differently. For this reason we do provide a small map on our web-site to let travelers know in advance.

Our neighbor roosters are definitely the norm when you visit Vieques! They are truly part of the island experience, along with the roaming horses and dogs. You will find them difficult to avoid unless you stay on a large property with more secluded surroundings.

As far as the burned out light bulb.....our sincere apologies! We will certainly improve on this aspect with our staff as we want to provide excellent service!

We are happy that you found that our guesthouse looks new, even though it has been around for more than 7 years. We continuously replace and upkeep with the furnishings, so your note about the soft bed and loud a/c helps us to continue to provide that "new and refurbished" feel that you mentioned.

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at the lovely Villa Coral Guesthouse and were quite impressed. Our room was beautifully decorated and perfectly clean. The women who work at the guesthouse were all friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We also loved Villa Coral's location-- an easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Esperanza's Malecon, but far enough away that it was quiet at night. We especially loved the rooftop deck-- perfect for stargazing at night! We highly recommend Villa Coral to anyone planning a trip to Vieques!

Villa Coral is a gorgeous place to stay. Its clean, tidy, and comfortable. The deck, swing hammock, and rooftop were perfect for relaxing and reading. The coffee maker, microwave, dishes, and silverware were very helpful for us as we made coffee, oatmeal, sandwiches, and cut fruit daily. The walk to Malecon is fast and easy and allows you explore the streets of Esperanza on the way. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. There are roosters at 4am right next door, but it didn't bother us that much. . . if anything it added to the island experience and got us up to see the sunrise a couple times! I would definitely stay here again.
