“Fell in love with Isla Nena”

The best place to get away from all the madness of the city life. Beautiful beaches, isolated from the crowds and chaos. Perfect for doing absolutely nothing

“Friendly service really can be found on Vieques, if you know where to look”
Reviewed 25 April 2011

We stayed on Vieques for a week and saw everything while getting advice from some of the locals. We were introduced to some of the most friendly folks on the island who were more than eager to share information and directions to the best beaches. Look up online the roadside cafe called the Barefoot Be'stro for the freshest food and flavor. Here you can even rent a clean, newer car and tour 90% of the island in safety and comfort. Only two beaches that the low-slung car can't take you, and we got around that by booking the BIO bay tour, which is a must.

“Beautiful beaches and a relaxing, low-maintenance atmosphere”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

Easily the best part of our honeymoon in Puerto Rico, Vieques has an abundance of activities while offering a low-maintenance, relaxing atmosphere. The most beautiful beaches we've ever seen (especially Red Beach), plenty of watersports and snorkeling and the one-of-a-kind biobay experience. We rented a scooter for a day and rode all over the island exploring. Horses roam free on the island and there are plenty of beautiful natural landscapes. Food is tasty and inexpensive in the Esperanza section of the island and the people are friendly enough. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 nights we spent, and will definitely go visit again. Flying over from San Juan gave us a beautiful view of the ocean, Vieques and the eastern part of the mainland, so don't waste your time on the ferry, unless you're on a tight budget.

“superb low key delightful experience”
Reviewed 6 April 2011

I have been to PR innumerable times( maybe over 70 times) and have had extended stays in San Juan, Rincon, Humacao, Cabo Rojo, and Culebra. Nothing prepared me for the beauty of Vieques. The island is just so amazing . I found that you could go to a different beach everyday and still be the only one(ones) on that particular beach. So totally laid back. The beaches we went to were all swimming beaches. There are plenty of places to buy lunch along the way if you are not of a mind to bring food with you. The restaurants as a whole were good. You must rent a car no matter where you stay. The rental home we stayed at was completely upscale aside from the major leaks into the house when it rained.
I would like to own a home here. That's how much I loved it.
