We loved our stay on Saba - we went to hike and see all the different eco zones. Juliana's was quite lovely - our room was clean and we had an ocean view from the first floor. I had wanted to get a cottage but we were only there for one night and the cottages were not available for nightly rental. The view from our room was gorgeous and we had a hammock to relax in - which was perfect.
We had hoped to eat at the restaurant (Tropics) on site but it was TGIF (friday night) and it was packed with partying bar folks and it was kind of noisy so we had a quiet meal at Scouts instead - which was beautiful. Scouts has a new young dutch chef who introduced himself after our meal and was quite charming as well as talented. My snapper with red bell pepper sauce was excellent and my husband's mahi-mahi creole was delicious. We shared a home-made apple tartine which was also wonderful!
When we returned to go to bed - there was a little left over noise from the bar at Juliana's but we were so tired from hiking that we fell to sleep instantly.
Overall we loved Juliana's - the owners/manager were very nice - gave us lots of good advice on hiking trips and even gave us a free round of his fabulous coconut pancakes - (worth every carb in them) when we ordered the delicious complementary breakfast. It was a bit noisy staying on the first floor on a Friday night - but we are not drinkers or bar people and tend to want more quiet than most. The restaurant at night seemed to be more of a bar than a restaurant but there are many other options within a short walking distance in Windward if you want quiet or have young kids and again - it was a Friday night so maybe the rest of the week is quieter. The location is perfect and the proprieters were really really nice so next time - we will just have to stay longer and get a cottage instead. Thank you Juliana's for a lovely stay!

Room Tip: Go with upper floor ocean view or cottages for quietest rooms but they are all very nice. AC not re...

We loved our stay on Saba and the Orchid Cottage was an amazing find. Built by an architect with a wonderful outdoor shower, our two bedroom cottage with a full kitchen and hammck on the patio that overlooks the mountainside and the ocean was a fabulous respite from the cold winter at home. Wim and Johanna were gracious and helpful hosts, even planning the event of the season...a spectacular New Year's Eve White Party with the best fireworks display and DJ on the island! Breakfast was made to order each day and the taxi (Peddy! and Gloria!) picked us up each day for our daily dive trips (Sea Saba was great!) The island is very relaxed and easy going and while due to a recent storm cell/Internet was spotty, who needs it?! lol. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The Orchid Cottage is well worth the increased price.

Our stay at Juliana's was great. We were assigned Flossie's Cottage, a two bedroom cottage with full kitchen, living room-dinning room space, and a full deck with hot tub. Our views of the mountain were spectacular as well as the view of the ocean. The hotel is well situated in town yet extremely quiet. The owners, Wym and Johanna, were terrific ensuring we had every need met and out stay was as relaxing as possible. They took care of arranging taxis for us, coordinating with the dive center, and giving us tips on things to do. Breakfast, which was included, was terrific. Furthermore, we loved the food at the Tropic Cafe, their restaurant off the pool

Juliana's is perfectly situated on the island for local shopping and restaurants and sight seeing. At the same time it is set apart from the crowd. In fact Julianas has it's own crowd of locals and travelers, chatting at the pool, bar or restaurant. And, a different tip of meal each night. Sushi on Sunday, too.

Room Tip: They offer private cottages too, so you can cook your own meals if you prefer.

We recently stayed at Juliana’s Hotel on Saba. Our primary reason for going was to scuba dive. Juliana’s hotel has a package that includes diving with Sea Saba. This arrangement proved to be very convenient. Juliana’s has standard rooms and cottages. We stayed in one of the cottages called Lily Pond cottage. It was wonderful. The cottage is best described as understated elegance. There is a large central room that is partitioned into a bedroom area and living room space. There is a kitchen and dining area as well. On one side of the bedroom is a room that contains a sink, toilet and closest space and on the other side of the bedroom is another room with a sink and walk in shower. The cottage is very comfortable and a very good value.
Each morning after breakfast (included in our package) a cab picked us up and drove us to the harbor where the dive boats were docked. Transport to and from the harbor was a 15 minute drive and it was also part of our package. The ride was analogous to driving in Switzerland. Our cab driver was Garvis who was born on the island and has lived there all his life. This made for fascinating conversations.
Both the reefs and off shore pinnacles are characterized by large groupings of sponges, soft corals and hard corals. Lettuce leaf nudibranchs were present on almost every dive. We also saw a frogfish and a seahorse. Turtles were a common occurrence and we always saw schools of fish.
Saba is a small but very vertical island. Juliana’s hotel is in the town of Windward, 1200 feet above sea level. In addition to the diving the island also affords great hiking with excellent vistas.
Saba is a wonderful island with a very relaxed approach to life and Juliana’s hotel embodies the island’s ambience.

Room Tip: The cottages while more expensive are well worth it.

I stayed here over Thanksgiving on a scuba diving tour. I was treated so well. They made me feel like I was an old friend. The room was really nice, great view of the water, cleaned and new towels everyday for taking on the scuba diving trips was a really nice touch! Just a very relaxing place, run by people who care your stay is everything you want it to be.

Room Tip: Get a room with the balcony facing the ocean.

A chance to relax and find peace. The island of Saba is a unique rainforest on a dormant volcanic rock, with remarkable underwater volcanic pinnacles covered with beautiful coral. Dive with Sea Saba.
