I have stayed at the Guanahani for 3 nights & 4 days as part of a large group. I must say these have been the most relaxing days I have spent in a luxury hotel. I am used to spending time off in luxury resorts but none came close to the “heaven-like” experience you get at the Guanahani.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed at the reception “house” with a refreshing drink while our check-in was being done and luggage carried to our rooms. All rooms are in separate little houses and they have managed to keep each room private. This means that if you are on your terrace, you cannot be seen by other guests while still able to enjoy a view on the sea. Some rooms have a private pool.

Each room is fitted with fully functional climate control, quiet ceiling fan, flat-screen TV, mini-bar, etc. Special thumbs up for the nice Italian shower and the terrace furniture that has comfy cushions. The only drawback of the room is that you may lack a bit of privacy when in the bathroom as it is not fully separated (with a door) from the rest of the room (the toilet is however well-separated) but the great design makes up for this. Oh and free Wi-Fi works well everywhere which is always nice!

Facilities are incredibly well-maintained. A little wooden path takes you from the upper rooms down to the beach. You can comfortably walk barefoot on the path surrounded by magnificent trees, plants & flowers. The hotel has 2 great beaches, quite different from each other so you can choose a side and then change depending on the time of the day. We did some “jet-ski” and the hotel has other activities on offer (volleyball, tennis, gym, etc.). The pool is in-between the 2 beaches and is very relaxing (with whirlpool). This is also the area where breakfast is served in the morning. Breakfast offers everything you may wish and you are asked if you’d like some eggs with bacon, etc.

Now on to the staff which is probably one of the best assets of this hotel. They were extremely efficient, yet managed not to overdo it (which is quite a feat in St Barts!). In many luxury hotels, staff can make you feel uncomfortable, almost bowing in front of you. At Le Guanahani, a nice “Bonjour Monsieur” with a smile is all it takes to make you feel at home. Staff are very friendly but this does not mean they are “taking it easy”. When you need them (e.g. arrange travel plans on the island, a restaurant, etc.), they are very quick to get back to you. At the same time they are very discrete so you will not notice them very much which enhances the feeling you’re in a very remote & relaxing place. Special thanks go to Claudie for co-ordinating our group activities so well, Stéphanie at the beach bar (she can take 3 orders simultaneously and deliver them in no time with a huge smile!) and Mathieu who made us feel welcome while remaining extremely professional. Thumbs up to the housekeeping staff who clean your room in no time and make it look as if you had just arrived.

To conclude, and this almost never happens, I cannot point out a single negative point about this hotel. I will be back for sure!

Two years later, I still think of hoonderful the stay at Hotel Guanahani was. Garden cabins set amongst the seaside, each with its own private view. The food was amazing, and the beach is second to none. Actually, I should say beaches. In the morning you can face the lagoon. In the afternoon, just turn your chair around and face the ocean. What an amazing place!

The Hotel Guanahani & Spa by Clarins was such a wonderful experience. I was a bit apprehensive @ 1st since being on a different French Island previous was not a welcoming or delightful experience. St Barths though was very welcoming and a very pleasurable experience. The hotel had wonderful dinning, relaxing beaches & a number one Spa! Would love to go again next year, but would like to stay longer.

We spent five very relaxing days at Guanahani. We were picked up by their very friendly driver who provided us with cold water, and even offered a choice of still or sparkling! We were welcomed at the hotel with a glass of champagne. The check-in process was efficient and friendly, and the receptionist drove us to our Ocean View room near the beach. The room was nicely decorated and had a very large terrace with a beautiful view of the bay. They provided two free bottles of Evian per day and the room was equipped with a nice espressomachine, also free of charge. The Clarins bathroom amenities are great. The beach team was fantastic. All the guys were friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of shade and the beach was never crowded. The complimentary breakfast was another highlight with everything you could wish for on the buffet and eggs, crepes etc cooked to order. We wish we were still there!!!

This is the largest of the resorts that we have stayed at on St. Barths. You do lose a bit of the charm of the smaller resorts that are abundant, although the Guanahani doesn't really give anything up facilities wise. Service is good, not great. Food is good, not great. Rooms are excellent, as is the beach setting. Pool wasn't really set up for use by families as it was bar side and didn't feel like the right place for a family with children.

But forget all that the island is spectacular. Great food, great shopping, and not too crowded. Very American friendly (unlike some parts of Paris). Be sure to rent a car, and be sure to drive carefully on the steep and narrow roads. You will get lost a few times if you venture out to the many restaurants, but it will be worthwhile. Did I mention how great the food is there?

The beach offers a constant breeze that keep you comfortable at any temp. And you really will lose sight of the hustle and bustle that you may regularly feel off the island. We found ti very relaxing and will return to the island soon.
