We were sad to leave Alice's other Villa at Marigot Bay where the views are absolutely stunning but were very pleased when we arrived at Butterfly Beach Villa. The view is still great and this villa is better equipped. The pool was good fun and not far to go to buy the beautiful garments at the Bagshaw silk screen printing shop. I hope we can return here again and bring the whole family as there is plenty of space for 6 people.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Butterfly house. It is just a short walk from the beach (albeit a steep one), has a very private pool, and three bedrooms with comfy beds. Fabulous views, and comfy places to hang out. Helpful staff too.

Not sure why window screens aren't popular in St. Lucia, so take your bug spray.

Our stay at the Butterfly Villa was better than expected. Truly one of the best vacations ever. We left for home with tears in our eyes. It was magical place. The owner and staff of the villa were like family to us. Alice, Pearl, Uriel, BigRunner, and Arthur are there to make sure that your vacation is the best it can be. We had Chef Joel fix us an island meal at the villa. Was so fun and so very good. We also had Emanuella come to the villa and provider massages. Amazing. We ate many good meals while in St. Lucia, Recommend the Coalpot for dinner and the Pink Plantation for a lazy late lunch, while enjoying a bottle of wine and the view of the Castries. Word of advice, we were unable to get a reservation at the Rainforest Hideaway so call early. That was our only disappointment because we did want to eat there and watch the sunset over Marigot Bay. I would also recommend ordering your groceries and provisions from Rachel. She did an amazing job. So nice to check in at the villa after a long day of traveling to have the fridge and cupboards stocked. One more suggestion - bring cash - no hundreds. Entry fees, cabs, market shopping do not take a credit card, so your cash goes very quickly. The Butterfly villa is remote so you need to have BigRunner take you and it is cash only.

“The Perfect Family Vacation: Privacy, Elegance, and Just Plain Fun”

I have been coming to St. Lucia every few years for 30 years and this is the first time that I rented a house there, always staying at hotels. I decided to rent a house this time because I was bringing two of my university aged children and their significant others. Three of the group of five are on an "alternative diet" with one a Vegan, one Vegetarian, and one Kosher. I just didn't think that any hotel would be able to feed them. It turned out to be the greatest bit of luck, since the Butterfly Beach House stay was so much better than any of the hotel experiences that I had. Most of the hotels in St. Lucia are all-inclusive and resemble a cruise ship on land, even the top hotels.
The owner is incorrectly listed as Jaques Binnet (owner of the website oasismarigot.com) and is really Alice Bagshaw. She is both a tremendous person and the best person to have as the vacation owner. Alice gives her guests a cell phone to use during their stay. I called her several times and she answered herself on the first ring! The place is beautiful, has a tremendous view, has three separate bedrooms, its own pool, and a beautiful very accessible beach. The "kids" also loved it and cooked all their own vegetarian food. All I wanted to do was never go home and live at the Butterfly Beach House.

“Wonderful stay”

My husband, myself, and another couple, enjoyed a wonderful time at the Butterfly Beach House. Uriel, the house manager, Perl, our housekeeper and Big Runner "Dave", (a local taxi driver) were all a pleasant part of the household. I strongly recommend that you order groceries before you come. You can't walk to any restaurants or stores. Your taxi driver, sent by the villa for a fee, can stop at the store before you come, but it's worth the extra money to have your groceries and/or favorite beverages waiting for you. Taxis get to be expensive, but relax, it's all part of your vacation.
We usually walked the 72 steps down to Le Toc Beach everyday, unless we were on an adventure. You can easily share the beach with the Sandals crowd. Then, come back to relax in your luxurious pool. The pool is one of the best parts of the villa.
Every morning and evening we sat on the patio, watching either a cruise ship and/or an occassional plane come into the Castries area. We loved, loved, loved the patio, which also overlooks the pool.
We ziplined via Rainforest adventures. Everyone told us that Treetops offered better trips, but two of our group are afraid of heights, so Rainforest was perfect for us. We also sailed, slowly, down toward South, to Soufries, via the villa's travel agency. That was nice, but just remember to bring cash for the entrance fees, tips and taxi fee.
Some of the restaurants we visited were The Coal Pot in Castries, Rainforest Hideaway, JD's at Marigot Bay and Jammers at the Windjammer. All were nice. We enjoyed the local fish, wherever we went.
We missed the Friday night Fish Fry, offered at Gros Islet because we were not aware of the local party. Big Runner took us to one of his local places in Gros Islet for Saturday night. It was cheap and delicious. We sat at aging picnic tables, but do not fear...go and try it. Better yet, ask about the Friday night Fish Fry or the Dennery Fish Fry on Saturday nights. They did not offer two of the local ones we were told, because of Lent. No parties, I guess.
We all highly recommend using Chef Joel, at least one night. He is worth every penny. Joel, a super nice guy, prepares his local dishes, featuring fish or chicken. He arrives around 1:30ish, with his purchased groceries, to serve your dinner at your arranged time. We had left overs for the next day, which was perfect since we came home from our sailing trip and just relaxed and reheated the food.
The villa, provides you with a local phone, with all of the phone numbers pre-programmed into the phone. All and all, we had a wonderful time at THE BUTTERFLY BEACH HOUSE. We love the St. Lucian people.

The staff was as nice as all other reviews stated. The house was perfectly placed to see the Island. Relaxing on the Veranda and in the pool with a view of the cruise ships coming in and out of Castries was great. I need to stress to future renters that you should order your groceries for the time you are there because you cannot walk anywhere to get a quick bite to eat. You must taxi. Big Runner and Alfred are great to get you around. The walk down to the beach is not bad but the walk up is tough. I cannot imagine doing it with little children. To appreciate the Island take a boat ride, it is really beautiful. Chef Joel was a special treat with Island cuisine and very sweet too. The people of St. Lucia are very friendly and very proud of their Island. Thank you Uriel, Pearl and Dave Big Runner for making our vacation at Butterfly House so great. But most of all I need To Thank our Traveling companions who shared the Butterfly Beach House with us for making our trip to St. Lucia so much fun. You know who you are.

We spent 8 days at the Butterfly Beach House which is one of the rental properties managed by Oasis Marigot. This villa is located in La Toc Beach, about a 15 min drive from Marigot Bay. To sum it up, our stay was truly amazing. Everyday since our return, I have looked at our pictures and felt a deep sense of longing to return to St. Lucia and the Butterfly Beach House. The location of the house is secluded yet very close to downtown Castries, where you can get just about everything you need from groceries at the market or supermarket to exchanging your money at the bank. When I walked into the house and looked across the living room to the balcony and the view I wanted to cry tears of joy. That view was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! Every morning I would wake up, pinch myself and take pictures to try and capture it. It was truly amazing. The house is 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms - the master bedroom has 2 separate small bathrooms, each with toilet, sink and shower. The house is set up perfectly for 3 adult couples, allowing for plenty of privacy for each couple with a lovely common area. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The cell phone provided by the owner was a God send! We used it several times a day. We chose this property because of its proximity to the beach. La Toc beach is a short walk down the hill but it is a steep walk so be prepared for that. I found the beach to be lovely but the water was a little rough...there were definitely some big waves. I'm not a big pool person so I didn't expect to use the private pool at the house very much. Boy was I wrong! I was in that pool everyday! It was wonderful! I kept swimming to the bottom to get a closer look at the butterfly. All in all, I loved this property, I thought it was a good price and a great value and I would definitely stay here again and encourage everyone I know going to St. Lucia to stay here. The only semi-negative things I have to say is that the living room/kitchen can get hot during the day, especially while cooking, so I would plan to spend the afternoon hours in the pool, on the beach or taking a nap in the air conditioned bedroom. Also, previous visitors to the home fed the cats/kittens from next door so they would come over every evening and hang around looking for food. I am not a cat lover and one of our friends travelling with us is deathly afraid of cats so we were not happy about having them hanging around. Twice we had to run them out of the living room as they jumped in through an open window! This was annoying but not a deal breaker by any means. Finally the mattress was more firm than I like but that's certainly a personal preference and I still slept like a baby after being out in the sun all day. If you're considering a rental in St. Lucia, stay here!
