An ideal retreat if you need to get away, recharge and soak up the sun. One week was too short! The room was comfortable, the food excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. There were planned activities but no pressure to join in. The beach is beautiful, long enough for a good walk, and the ocean was "walk-in" temperature. We thouroughly enjoyed a day trip of sighseeing - the island is really beautiful. PS. I do recommend nausea medication for the road trips (even from the airport) if you are prone to motion sickness.

We had a good feeling about Sandals Halcyon when we visited 2 years ago. So good in fact, that after 27 years together we decided that it was the perfect place to be married. We were absolutely right! From the moment we booked our "WeddingMoon" through the Ceremony, Reception, Photos, and Candlelight Dinner we were treated like Royalty. Our Wedding coordinator Maggie assisted by Julietta, ensured that our wedding was a perfect experience despite some "nerves" from the Groom. All we had to do was let them know what we wanted and they made it happen. For the Bride and Groom it was virtually stress free. The only concerns we had were about the Bride's hair and makeup and the pictures. Lea(h) from the Body Shop made the Bride even more beautiful than the Groom could have imagined, while Fefe (our photographer) and the Staff of the Snap Shop actually made the Groom LOOK GOOD we purchased more pictures than we had planned! All the people at the Halcyon made it a perfect day.
That is what makes the Halcyon - the people who work to make sure their guests have the most enjoyable experience they can. Where else would a member of Housekeeping Staff take the time to help a Bride get into her Wedding Dress, fold towels into kissing swans and go into the gardens to pick fresh flowers for the room, and only then continue her normal work day (thank you Valentine). Do photographers at other resorts program guests' cameras to help them take better pictures? (thanks Mr. G) . Two hours prior to checking out of the resort, our concierge delivered a full box of kleenex for us to take on our flight because we had head colds. (thank you Samantha) These are only some of the everyday examples of a dedication of the Staff to their guests that we have not found anywhere else in our travels. All the Management and Staff at the Halcyon were genuinely open, friendly, and helpful. While it is impossible to mention everyone by name, several staff members such as Celina, Martha, and Sherian in the Food Service Area and Richmond, Rita, and of course Agnes in the Beveridge Services Area were outstanding.
Having read other less favorable reviews about the Halcyon we cannot understand why some guests had not enjoyed their stay, except possibly for poor weather. Our experiences with the rooms, gardens, food, service, watersports and of course the staff were all extremely positive. It is possible that the astute couple from 1000 Oaks are right. Their theory that people go to a resort expecting that it will solve all their problems and are disappointed when it doesn't makes perfect sense.
From our point of view, we cannot imagine a better location than St. Lucia, nor a better resort than the Halcyon to visit. The Halcyon provides guests with a quiet, relaxing stay, while the other 2 Sandals resorts on the Island, allow for a faster paced experience. We are looking forward to seeing all our St. Lucian, British, American and Canadian friends next January. We are hoping to celebrate each of our Wedding Anniversaries at the Halcyon for as long as we are able.

My husband booked the Halcyon in September 08 to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. This was a much looked forward vacation. Initially the sandals dream could have only been described as luxurious, idyllic and other such wonderful things. Most of the staff were fabulous and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. However half way through our second week, we had money stolen from the safety deposit box in our room. The police attended. There was no forced entry. We had left the key hidden within our room. Over half of our spending money was taken. As you can imagine we were left devastated. One can only draw their only conclusion's who may have taken the money! Upon discovery the theft was reported immediately to the staff who took over an hour to respond and only did so following a number of visits by my husband to the reception. Sandals response was to pay lip service and left us feeling like criminals. We have since written to Sandals in the UK who offered there sympathy however denied any liability. Thankfully we managed to claim for £600 which was half the amount stolen from our insurers, who obviously were satisfied that the claim was genuine, despite Sandals refusal to accept any liability.

So beware when you travel to Sandals Halcyon what you put in your saferty deposit box!
or your dreams as ours may be spoilt.

This was our first time booking with Sandals and it definitely won't be our last!! Sandals Halcyon was EXCELLENT. It truly is a "Garden of Eden"...The resort is very intimate and perfect for our honeymoon. The service and staff were excellent! Everyone was always smiling and more than willing to help in any way possible. The food was great and the drinks were the best. At first we thought we would be getting watered down beverages but the bartenders proved us wrong!!! It was top shelf all the way! We also took advantage of the stay and play. We visited the other two resorts in the area, but we were more impressed with the one we chose. We did take an excursion to see the Pitan Mountains and went snorkeling on the way back...it was beautiful!!! And the cruise we took was excellent...calm waters, beautiful scenery, and great drinks!!

While we were there it was their Carnival, so we were exposed to some of their culture. The parades were beautiful and the customes were gorgeous!! I loved every minute of our vacation and didn't want to leave...

This was our first experience at a Sandals Resort and we were generally quite impressed . The service was excellent and the staff at this location has to be their greatest resource . We found them to be friendly , courteous and helpful at all times and our sincere thanks go out to them for all of that .
The accomodations were good and housekeeping kept them very clean . The location was a good one for us as we were located in a quieter part of the complex which we enjoyed . The room itself however was in need of an upgrade as it appears to be an older part of the compound . The bathroom was missing "bits" on the sink taps , tile in the bathroom appeared a little tired and the grouting was definitely in need of a good scubbing . The sleeping area and the king-sized bed were very good with a nice view of the well kept gardens . We had a bit of trouble with our key in the door-lock at times -- again , due to the fact that it needed replacing . Generally the accomodations were good - not excellent .
As for amenities , we found that there was something for everyone at the Halcyon -sports and activities , tours , entertainment etc and a quiet area for those like us who just wanted to rest and relax .
The food at the three restaurants we found to be good and plentiful and the kitchen staff were most accommodating .
Liked Best : Landscaping was gorgeous
Liked Least : A small point , but I did not care much for the cats that roamed the outside eating areas .
