We just returned from our third consecutive visit over Christmas to the Windjammer Landing. It's not like us to visit a resort for consecutive years, but we had such a wonderful time last December we really wanted to return. We were a bit concerned because of the damage caused by the mudslides, and we had heard that two of the restaurants had been closed. However, we were assured that they would be reopened by the time we arrived, and everything was pretty much back to normal. (Four villas had to be demolished due to structural damage caused by the mudslides.)

We found that the Windjammer Landing had undergone some nice renovations since last year. We requested the same villa that we had last year, and were pleased to find all new furniture, with the rooms freshly painted. The views were spectacular, and we were very pleased to see that our request for the same accommodations was honored.

The staff at Windjammer are by far the most gracious and courteous one could find anywhere. They are really eager to please their guests, and go out of their way to prove it to you. There was a special lobster dinner available when we were there, but I was told that there were no more lobsters toward the end of the week. When Windjammer staff learned that there were more lobsters, they sought me out to tell me that they would put aside lobsters for us. That's just one example of how the staff sincerely wants to please its guests.

The food at Windjammer is wonderful. Care is taken to make one's dining experience great, and we are pretty fussy eaters. We enjoyed all our meals at Upper Deck, Dragonfly, and Papa Don's. It's unusual to find a resort that caters to families with such excellent food. The lunches at Jammers were also top quality, although the service at Jammers at lunchtime can be quite slow. There are just so many people and only two places to eat lunch.

The water is great for swimming; the views are spectacular; there are timeshares at Windjammer, but they sell themselves so there are no pushy sales pitches attempting to sell them to you. Everything is 100% professional.

I highly recommend this resort, and would be happy to answer questions if anyone would care to e-mail me. We spent 11 nights at Windjammer, and we really had a wonderful time.

Do you know when you plan a trip for so long and do so much research and can only hope that your expectations are met? Lucky for us, our expectations were met 20 times over. Our honeymoon to St Lucia, and our stay at the Windjammer Landing was, by far, the most amazing and perfect week of our entire lives. Not only was the resort absolutely perfect, but never have we experienced such stellar customer service. By the 2nd or 3rd day, everyone knew us by name and treated us like we were royalty. Sean, at excusrions, would bend over backwards to make sure we were happy. Everyone at the Upper Deck, Papa Dons, Jammer's and Dragonfly were absolutely wonderful! We had such an amazing time, we have begun to plan on our return for our one year anniversary.

We spent the week of December 3-10 at Windjammer. We had a great time and the place is everything everyone has said. However a couple of weeks prior to our arrival, the resort was inundated with a few days of heavy rain causing a rock slide which wiped out six villas and two of the restaurants. No one was hurt but Jammers and Upper Deck were closed for repairs. Also the main pool was closed for a while but was back in use when we got there. We were unable to take advantage of the all-inclusive because they were not offering it, due to the damage. Also the Windjammer called many people who were to be guests last week and told them not to come. Therefore the place was pretty empty. There were probably more staff people and construction people than guests. They are working diligently to get the place up and running by Dec. 22. Since there were so few guests, some of the tours were not available since they required a minimum number of people. Also we did not have phone service in our room due to the damage, but we opted to stay in our three bedroom villa anyway rather than switch to another one. We got our exercise walking down the hill. But despite all that we still had a very nice time. The staff was great, the food was good and they did their best to accomodate us despite a situation that was beyond their control. If you want to experience some of the local color, go to the Jump-up street fair in Rodney Bay on Friday night.

My husband and I stayed at The Windjammer for our honeymoon the first week of November. Overall we had a great time, but we ran into a few issues.
After nearly two hours in the cab coming to the hotel, we were more than happy with the check in process (though beware of the rum punch!). The Ambassadors were wonderful and explained everything in great detail. We arrived at our villa in the 100s and were very happy with the accomodations. After unpacking, we enjoyed dinner at Papa Don's - it was great!! That night, around 3 am, my husband woke me up because our water heater had burst in the villa. There was water and steam everywhere. We immediately called the front desk and they moved us to a new villa within a half hour.
The second villa we were in was a major step up. We had a plunge pool, multiple decks and lots of privacy. The second morning in this villa, I awoke to find the downstairs ceiling leaking due to the rain. My husband and I opted to stay in this villa and deal with "a little bit of rain". That night after dinner, we came home to find it basically pouring in our villa. We had some minor issues getting a shuttle to come get us and move us to yet another villa.
In the end, The Windjammer went above and beyond by placing my husband and I into a Private Estate with four bathrooms, three bedrooms, our own full sized pool and perhaps the most unbelievable view I've ever seen. The people at the hotel were wonderful. The food was incredible. And everyone has to try the daily special at the bar. My favorite was the Mamacita!!
The resort itself is incredible and regardless of any issues we may have had, it was a great time!!

We stayed at the WJ for our honeymoon and unfortunately we arrived after days of heavy rain. The resort began turning away new arrivals the day after we checked in, so the resort was half empty which gave us more privacy. On our third day, all the restaurants but one closed and so did the pool. We heard the sounds of the bulldozers demolishing damaged villas from the beach! This was not anyone's fault, and the staff made the best of it and were very accomodating to all of our needs. We loved the sea and land combo safari, and highly suggest it to really experience the whole island. Everyone was very friendly, and our villa was beautiful! With the exception of the damage to the resort, we had a wonderful honeymoon!

We (2 adults 3 children 10,7 &3) stayed at the Windjammer Landing in October 05 for 12 nights. We had a great time. The villa we stayed in was spacious with 3 floors. Twin beds with balcony and ensuite on the lower ground, sofa bed on ground and double ensuite on top floor. The plunge pool is a great way to cool off when it gets hot and is ideal for kids - but you need to keep an eye on the younger ones because it is deep. There was a TV with DVD player in the sitting room and you can hire DVDs from the mini mart. Coffee is left in your fridge each day and the kitchen is ideal if you want to do a bit of self catering. Its a great mix of hotel, with your own space at the villa if you want to kick back with the kids.
The restaurants are great offering a good range of food in different settings. Jammers is very informal and easy. Dragonfly is more formal and the food is excellent.
We found the staff incredibly helpful. Comments were made by people who didn't share the same opinion as us but to be honest I think it depends a lot on how well you treat the staff.
The beach is great, although the water is not as crystal clear as other parts of eth Carribean. The water sports are great, particularly if you are on all inclusive. Water skiing, sailing, bannana boats, windsurfing, kayaking. The kids loved it although there are some normal age restrictions.
If you are on all inclusive tipping is covered which we weren't sure about until we got the bill which was a relief.
We had a great holiday and would have no hesitation in recommending Windjammer. one word of caution which may not be a problem is that we discovered rat droppings on our balcony and on two separate occasions had a rat in our villa - just passing through. The villa doors have bars instead of windows and so the wildlife can come and go as it pleases. The small birds in the morning arent a problem but the rats were a bit much. It was fortunate that we only spotted them on our last 2 days and when i reported it to the manager he was insistent that there wasn't an ongoing problem but that it was more than likely due to the rain that we had had.

We visited St. Lucia in late June, early July of 2005. Weather was incredible...humidity as expected for the West Indies at that time of year. The island was in fact beautful, but the resort 'made the stay.' We had a one bedroom villa with a plunge pool and incredible views of the ocean. The villa we stayed in was authentically 'rustic' in regards to how the windows, the sliding doors that opened from all sides...the whole open and airy feeling in general was very picturesque, it was like staying in one of those villas you see in the movies where you think it's only Hollywood and that it doesn't really exist...but there we were. Ahhhhh....

This place is not for someone who wants 5 star roomservice in a climate controlled hotel room...you do need to have a bit of a sense of adventure.

Welcoming staff and general help were extremely accomodating and nice. You were assigned an ambassodor who help you with all your needs and desires while staying. Food and bar service was extremely slow...they were on "Caribbean time" and was frustrating at times. But that's when you remind yourself that you are on vacation.

Food was marginal at best. The Italian restaurant was by far the best...so we ate there most of the time.

We did the all-inclusive for the first 3 days...but save it. Once we discovered that we didn't like the food it ended up being a waste. We took a taki in to town and stocked the fridge, cupboards, and bar...saved lots and were able to eat what we enjoyed and at far more resonable prices.

Back to the room...they provide bug spray and smokeless 'air' bug repellent...but bugs inside our villa were really non-existent. They even sprayed the inside mid-week as precaution. Do keep your food covered so as not to attract bugs...and the birds can come and go as they please when all is opened up.

The island in general...while picturesque and beautiful, I would only return again just to stay at the Windjammer. There is really not much to do outside the resort unless you want to go hiking. Snorkeling was great too. Do NOT do the "Matinique Splendor" excursion...the MOST miserable day we had on our vacation...but we got over it.

One more thing...if you fly into the main airport on the south side of the island, TAKE THE HELICOPTER to the airport on the other side of the island and closest to Windjammer. Definitely worth it.
