“Wonderful holiday,an escape from UK winter weather”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

Left a cold, snowy UK behind. After a delayed BA flight from Gatwick, snow had cleared but problems with required spare batteries that aircraft needed to fly.......
Arrived in the dark, very weary. 3 couples arrived at same time but check in was speedy.
Offered a drink of our choice. That was our first contact with the lovely " Lily " . What an asset she is to the hotel, always a smile on her face and any request was no trouble. A rapport built straight away.
Staff in general excellent and we slipped into the Caribbean mode and throughly relaxed!!!!!!
Room was great, located top floor of stand alone building. Think it was room 209, had a high vaulted ceiling. Views fantastic. We like being above the vegetation and not in it !!!! A beachside cottage would not have suited us but that's a personal choice.
We were on AI package which suited us as we are foodies and appreciate good food and wine. Not disappointed. The quality of both excellent.
Asked for a tour of the kitchen which Konrad arranged with Didier the French chef.
I was impressed with the clenliness and storage facilieties. It is a small kitchen which was very well organised with dedicated staff resulting in choices of superb dishes.
Fish was our favourite. We loved the Asian, Creole,European fusion style. Top notch for us.
Pool bar food also excellent. Jonathan and Lance a good duo behind the bar.
All guests got on together and we all had a great time.
Booked through Simply St Lucia. They regularly visit hotels that they feature and their inside knowledge prompted us to book in the first place.
Thanks to all staff,we can't speak highly enough.

We have just returned from a 2 week honeymoon at Calabash. We were looking forward to our trip having read all the previous reviews and believe me this place is awesome. We could not find fault with anything and agree with many of the reviews that the people make the difference. Gavin at the poolside bar was always friendly and helpful and we enjoyed many lunchtimes chatting with him. I agree with Cameron C's review that when we left it was like saying goodbye to a real friend. All of the staff in the restaurant were brilliant and having been on many 'all inclusive' holidays in the past this place tops them all. It is true Al a Carte dining. Rohan on the front desk was extremely helpful and arranged for a mosquito net to be fitted in our cottage.
We were in cottage 8 which was in the last block away from the hotel so very secluded. We even got to know the garden staff who.I dont think that we can say more than has already been said in other reviews other than, if you want a honeymoon or holiday to remember where the staff will make you feel very special in a very quiet and beautiful hotel then this is for you. Just book it now, you wont be dissappointed.

Room Tip: All of the cottages are beautiful but 8 & 9 are furthest from the main hotel so have a little mo...

This place exceeded our already high expectations from other reviews! We stayed 7 days for our honeymoon and couldn’t have chosen a better place. The fact that this resort only has 20 or so rooms which was only 25% occupied made the resort feel extremely exclusive. The first couple days we were there we had the pool to ourselves every day. No one on the beach every time we went. Which left the staff to focus on us! It was funny to think that on day 4 the pool was crowded when we were join by another couple or two.
The staff made the trip just that much better. Lance and Gavin at the pool bar were awesome and always entertaining and fun to be around. We spent a lot of time in the pool and they took care of us the entire time and by the end of the trip felt like friends. Lily was the bartender at the restaurant bar and she was great! Extremely friendly and we loved hanging out at the bar talking with her. Andrea was our waitress a few times and again just a pleasure to be around. I have never been to a place where I got to know the staff so this experience is one I will remember. They were all so friendly and they made our time in such a beautiful place that much better.
This resort is laid back and is one thing we enjoyed the most. We weren’t looking for an active party style resort like you would get at sandals. It was quiet and peaceful and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an escape from the normal large resorts you find everywhere. I can't imagine that here is a better pool view in St. Lucia. Looking out from the elevated infinity edge pool was an amazing view of a large bay with the Capital Castries lighting up the hillside at night.
We stayed in cottage number 1 up on the hill to the far right when looking down to the beach. The view from the deck and plunge pool was absolutely amazing!! This cottage is the most elevated which left unobstructed views all around. I loved that the bedroom had AC while the front room of the cottage could be opened up to have th great views. Many other resorts we looked at (Ladera) had all open air rooms which would have left me way to hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Being on the far side of the resort left it very secluded but still very convenient to get to the pool and restaurant. The outdoor shower in the room was amazing. What it doesn’t show on the resort website is the incredible view it has. In fact the pictures of the resort online do not do it justice. The amount that the properties vegetation has grown in and the views of the bay and lights of Castries at night (which are not well shown) completely shatter your expectations the moment you arrive.
We did the all-inclusive and were extremely happy with our decision!! The food at the restaurant and pool bar was always fantastic. They change up there specials daily and there wasn’t one thing we had that wasn’t amazing. This is coming from a couple that loves to eat out and has high standards when it comes to food.
I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a quite resort that at times feels like you are the only one there. Food was great! Staff was wonderful! Views are unbeatable!!

My wife and I traveled to St Lucia for our honeymoon in July, 2013. We didn't want to stay at a "mega resort" or do an all-inclusive, since we wanted to get out and explore, and not feel tied down to an all-inclusive meal plan. This drew us to Calabash Cove - it is a small, boutique resort nestled on a hillside above the Caribbean, and is absolutely beautiful. Some complain about the long road to get to the resort, but that helps it stay off the beaten path and gives you more privacy. It was the off-season, so the already small resort was practically empty, which meant very personal attention from the friendly staff.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted with complimentary drinks from the bar (the rum punch is delicious), and we planned out our activities for the trip, all coordinated through the resort and the very helpful concierge. Everyone there knew our names, which added to the atmosphere. We had a swim-up junior suite, with which we were very pleased - we had a large bed, large jacuzzi, patio, and could walk out of our room into the infinity pool, or swim to the pool bar. The views from the pool and the restaurant were simply incredible - calm, blue waters, and gorgeous opportunities for a sunset.

The restaurant and bar hours were somewhat limited (the pool bar is only open until 5 pm, the hotel bar is only open until 11 pm), but the bartenders and wait staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, and the daily specials spiced things up nicely. All meals could be charged to your room, and some guests there did have an all-inclusive plan for meals/drinks - but this is not the ideal place if you want all-inclusive since there is only one restaurant. But for a nice, romantic getaway, it's perfect!

The beach is quiet and secluded, but was very pretty. We had the romantic dinner on the pier our first night there and were very impressed. Also of particular note was the couples massage at the spa, the sunset sail out of Rodney Bay, and the Piton hike, all booked through Calabash Cove. Just don't forget bug spray (the resort and the surrounding area can get quite buggy! And keep the mosquito net down around your bed).

Even though it was the off-season, we very much enjoyed St Lucia - it rained a little bit one day, and was overcast on another day, but other than that the weather was sunny and perfect for the beach.

All in all, we were very impressed with the resort and our vacation. Calabash Cove was not far from Castries (the capital city), Rodney Bay (with good nightlife and restaurants) and Marigot Bay (very scenic, with other good restaurants), so we were able to experience much of St Lucia in a short time. If you're looking for a quiet, delightful, scenic and romantic resort, this is it!

Room Tip: Swim up junior suites seem to have the best value

don't even read this, just book your trip here. if you are laidback, want to have fun, be with the one(s) you love in a beautiful location, enjoy great food, enjoy affordable spa treatments and feel like one of the family (the spoiled one) then this is the place for you.

positives:
- check in: we stepped out of the cab from the airport into a beautiful open air reception, handed a lovely smelling cold wet towel, and asked what kind of drink we'd like from the bar. amazing. we drank our beers checked in and were given a tour of the resort and our room.
- the room was just as we had requested, second floor sunset ocean view jr. suite - all the amenities were explained to us.
- we were all inclusive - our room was stocked and restocked daily with liquor, wine, and beer. they even had a congratulatory champagne bottle waiting for us to celebrate our honeymoon!!
- the food: everything we ate during our 4 night stay was perfect and you could get room service or have it in the restaurant. breakfast: we usually had delivered to our room. our go to was the aux bain chocolat which was amazing, and the fruit was also delicious. the coffee served in french press. so awesome. lunch: you could eat poolside or in the restaurant, we always ate poolside and it was great. we usually had calamari, fish burgers, and shrimp. dinner: the salmon and pea risotto was the best thing we've ever eaten, tuna sashimi special was great and we also enjoyed the entrees like duck, fish, etc. we could have just eaten the delicious appetizers all night long.
- the pool is amazing, it is never overcrowded, the view is amazing, it was soooo clean, and the bartenders are very personable and ready to top you off when you need it! they were a blast to hang out with, we shared many laughs with gavin and really enjoyed he, lance and the other guys by the pool. they really strive to have everyone enjoy their stay. and the drinks they make are awesome. we so miss drinking lucian mamas listening to mom mom mommy ma.
- we decided on a whim to try a couples massage. it was amazing. the ladies in the spa take care of you!!! thankfully we had our couples massage early in the trip and had time to do one more before we left. if you come here do the same! it really makes your day so relaxed and it was super affordable.
- the gym was nice and spacious - we used it once, for about 20 minutes and looking out on the water we couldn't be inside much longer.
- our balcony was awesome, the views of the sea and rodney bay were spectacular. these views were also spectacular from all of the resort including the pool and restaurant!
- the room was super comfortable, the bed sooo great, tub so big, shower so perfect!!
- the beach was great! super private and comfortable. it literally is a cove. we used the kayaks and cruised out far and felt like it was our own private island.
- we did a sunset cruise and were picked up at the resort and taken to rodney bay and then brought back - super easy!
- while we were at calabash cove there were not too many guests there, though we would have loved it the same if it were a packed house.

negatives:
- we are not there now

we loved our time at calabash cove and wished we had spent our entire honeymoon here as it is completely our style of lodging, dining, and fun. thanks to all of the staff that made our stay so amazing!! we can't wait to be back there sitting rum and cokes, swimming in the infinity pool, being so in love in a place so filled with love.

We just returned home after our eight day vacation. This was our second trip to this small but big in other ways resort. The villa over looking the beach is so nice. Private pool, outdoor shower with privacy, open air front room and a nice cool bedroom & bath. The staff & owners are so great. Always a smile & warm greeting. Room service is a plus when you just want to chill on your porch. Monday evening there is a managers cocktail party where you can mingle with staff & other guest if you choose. A very romantic place to go for all ages. Check it out.

Room Tip: If you don't mind a small walk the villas are the way to go.

This was a dream hotel and experience.
My husband and I stayed her for a week in absolute bliss. We did not do all inclusive but ate at the wonderful restaurant many times. Breakfast was included and decadent - not your typical continental, we could order whatever we wanted!

The grounds are beautiful, and because it is so intimate you often feel as if you are alone. Very romantic.

We went on several excursions which we set up through the amazing staff. All went off without a hitch. We loved the snuba and zipline adventures.

This is not a place for kids, and I hope it stays that way. It's too small for them to enjoy themselves.

Room Tip: Swim out was super fun if your looking for a change!
