We stayed in the guesthouse for a coup,e of days. To be honest when we first saw the dogs, we were a bit scared especially since we don't have any but a second later we felt very comfortable. They are lovely dogs and we liked them a lot. They are absolutely friendly - we miss them though!
The entire area is kept clean and we felt very comfortable. The rooms are all clean, well mantained and made to enjoy your holidays.
The owners were absolutely lovely, caretaking and welcoming. We would come again and recommend it to everybody.
The location is perfect as well: good conrction, not touristically spoiled but still enough restaurants to have lunch and dinner. It is not so touristically spoiled like other areas on the island.
We had a couple of great days there. We like then place a lot and are still missing the dogs paika and pepsi.

My friend and I stayed here for a month as we were medical students on our elective in St Lucia. We stayed at the Bay Guesthouse because of a recommendation from a friend. We had a fantastic time - Will and Steph (the owners) helped out in any way that they possibly could. They would book trips for us, give us advice on a daily basis, find out the cheapest ways for us to do things. We mentioned that we wanted to cook some fish on the fire pit so Will got us some coal and bought us some tuna steaks very cheaply. For the money you couldn't ask for any more - we had an ensuite room for two that was cleaned daily, and were given linen, towels and beach towels. The value for money here is incredible. It's an amazing location as well, situated in a real Caribbean village, with amazing local restaurants and the weekly street party that is famous throughout the island. The overnight security guard and guard dogs meant that we always felt safe. Wouldn't stay anywhere else if I visit again. Our only complaint would be that the rooms are pretty warm but the guesthouse is currently closed as they are putting in air conditioning units!

Stephanie and Will are great hosts! The are very knowledgeable about the area. The location is great, nice and convenient to jump on a bus to Castries, walk to Pigeon Island or grab a taxi to Cas en Bas. This place will be even better with A/C to take an edge off the humidity. Would definitely recommend the Bay Guesthouse. The jump up on Friday night was a great event, it was convenient being with in walking distance, we could return home whenever we wanted. You have to eat at Flavours of the Grill!!!!

This is the perfect place to stay in the Rodney Bay area and is exceptionally good value for money. We felt that Rodney Bay itself offers good facilities, but is very Americanised. However, the Bay Guesthouse is located nearby in the lovely, quiet fishing village of Gros Islet that only gets busy during the Friday night "jump up". The views from the property are amazing and the beach is right there on your doorstep. Follow this beach to the end and you reach Pigeon Island National Park which is a must see and even has a brilliant restaurant called Jambe de Bois. We felt at home straight away as Will & Stephanie are excellent hosts who go out of their way to ensure you get the most out of your stay. Our only regret is staying for just 3 nights and we were very sad to leave. We hope to return very soon.

Room Tip: The top floor apartment is amazing, but you won't be disappointed with any of the front rooms th...

Travelling from Norway and not really knowing what the Bay Guest house was about, we went to a so called luxury hotel in Rodney Bay a few nights before we came to BG. Such a waist! The BG is all you can ever dream about: Close to the sea, waves singing you a lullaby every night, fantastic architecture, really delicious design inside and out, and the best hosts one can ever dream of! Will and Steph are Europeeans, and I think that makes it much easier for us who come there - communication and service are just top notch. Really clean, lots of silent fans, no mosquitoes during the night (no need for mosq. net), good commodities in the kitchen, wonderful bathing towels - thick! and close distance to everything in the little village. The dogs are extra bonus for animal lovers as myself - I miss Polka and Pepsi! This is the only place I will stay in in Gros Islet, and I can even go back on my own - it will be a treat any time. Thanks very much for a fantanstic experience, W and S! Vigdis

The guesthouse is located rather perfectly right next to the village of Gros Islet and its lovely people, next to beaches and has a magnificent view to the sea.

The rooms are really nice and kept clean.

Some might find the lack of air conditioning a minus, while for us it felt natural; after all one of the reasons for going to the Caribbean is it's warm weather!
Also considering the room prices, the rooms are equipped far better than one would expect; even a free wifi connection that worked really well was included!

The nearby tourist areas of Rodney Bay and its marina are easily accessible by the local buses, yet far enough to avoid most of the 'artificial tourist attraction' -kind of feeling.

Gros Islet is more of a local fishing village, but does offer plenty of restaurants and pubs with lower prices than the tourist ones. Also small minimarket -kind of shops are available to put those kitchenettes to use! (The nearest shop (a green building just around the corner) even sells fresh baguettes in the morning for a breakfast delight.)

The owners are really, really nice and go to amazing extents to address their guest's needs and questions.

And yes, the dogs are adorable as well!
(As they do get mentioned here a lot; they're really no trouble for the guests at all, quite the contrary, but if you're hesitant about or afraid of dogs in general, you can always ask if they could be kept on a leash (or maybe even off the premises) for the duration of your stay..)

---

A taxi to the guesthouse (or Gros Islet in general) from the Hewanorra International airport at Vieux Fort will set you back (03/2013 price level) about 60USD; you can even get a taxi with an AC for that if you're lucky, altough you might have to pay extra for it (so 70USD would be a fair price). As mentioned before, the "Airport Taxis" right at the exit are the most expensive and tend to refer to their fixed prices, but the ones waiting further outside are cheaper and can be bargained with!

A budget conscious traveller can get a bus for just a few dollars to Castries and from there on to Gros Islet, just a couple of blocks of walking distance from the guesthouse.

Room Tip: The best choice for a room would depend on the budget and preferences of view & cooking faciliti...

Bay Guesthouse is a dream: Will and Stephanie did all the best to make us feel welcome. We stayed 6 nights in the beautiful appartement upstairs, with lots of room and space, a wonderful view and falling asleep listening to the waves! With only 4 rooms, the Guesthouse has a personal athmosphere. It is very clean and cozy, and the dogs;Polka and Pepsi are sweet and nice. We also stayed 3 nights in the ocean front room downstairs, which also can be recomended! We would definitly love to come back!

Room Tip: Top floor appartement is a dream! For 100$ a night you get a huge terrace, livingroom, 2 bedrooms, k...
