Very well done local cuisine at reasonable prices; great bar scene for the younger set and noisy street party on Friday nights. Great place to mingle and dance with locals and visitors alike. However, if you don't like NOISE, try lunch, or a night other than Friday.

Thank Fred L

This place was a bit off the beaten path for tourists, but a remarkably short walk from the Rodney Bay Marina. We walked by this perfectly kept little open air restaurant and had one of the best meals we had in our 10 days, the rest in much fancier places. We walked in early afternoon the day after Independence Day so the streets were a bit quite. The place is located what appears to be the main intersection in Gros Islet. When looking for local cuisine in St. Lucia the typical trade-off seems to be (1) something refined but not really authentic or (2) something authentic but more much grittier atmosphere and service. This place was meticulously clean, crisp and well organized. The food was a rich well orchestrated set of flavors. I had the stuffed chicken which was absolutely delicious with macaroni & cheese and a set of fruits vegetables with peas & rice all fitting together perfectly. Everything was extremely reasonably priced. A Piton, the beer of the island, was a quarter of the cost charged at most restaurants. The woman who runs it clearly takes well deserved great pride in running a terrific little restaurant. One of the really special surprises of our trip.

Food was excellent. Good value and plates were full. If you are looking for a quiet dinner this is NOT the place. Across the street is a dance hall where the music is so loud the waitress had trouble taking our order. But the this is a true Caribbean restaurant.

On a recommendation from our local friend, we went to Golden Taste on Friday evening just as the Jump Up was getting underway. The food offered by the vendors on the street looked quite tasty but we wanted to sit down out of the way and enjoy some people-watching. The food at Golden Taste was delicious! We had dorado (mahi-mahi), both grilled and in a creole sauce and I can’t say which we liked better. Marvelous with the accompanying ground provisions, macaroni pie, salad and a few Pitons to quench our thirst. One in our group of 4 had the lamb chops and he declared them to be very, very good and I believe him since he was nibbling every bit of meat off the bones. Service was friendly and quick despite being busy and the price can’t be beat. We highly recommend a visit!

Often loud music outside but the food is well priced and really good! All local and delicious. Better than all the fancy high priced restaurants out there. No it isn't fancy food but a good experience if your down on the island.
