We had a fun time doing the ATV trip. However the trip didn't seem quite long enough for the amount we paid. We drove not more than 45 minutes on the ATV but did get to see a very nice beach and swim.

After picking us up in Gros Islet, our Aanansi ATV shuttle driver picked up other guests at another resort, and then took us through villages to the hills, to a Banana plantation, where we boarded ATV's. After brief instructions, we went around a small dirt track to get familiar with the machines, and then on our way up and down roads in which some were paved, I think the name of one village was Bonneau. We had never ridden ATV's before, and felt very safe. The machines were in good condition, but some of the tires were a little worn. It was so interesting seeing the countryside, the housing and little villages, the little chicken and vegetable/fruit farms, and how the local people lived. Very quaint. We went through a banana plantation, and visited a 1800's sugar cane mill and walked through an old stone production building with a clay tile roof. Our guide was very informative with the history of the plantation, explained how the plantation produced sugar cane prior to being a banana plantation. We then visited a beautiful viewpoint of a (Leatherback) Turtle bay, and he gave us a delicious, ice cold, passion fruit drink. We forged a little stream on the way back. The tour lasted about 3 hours, and went by too fast. Thank you Aanansi guides for the great window into the past and your beautiful island.

I booked the tour the night before with Trevor, very simple. We were promptly picked up at our hotel (The Landings) and about 20 min. later arrived at the ATV location. We were a family of four, my son 15 had his own ATV and my daughter 13 was on the back of my husbands. I had never driven one, but figured I would give it a try. After a quick lesson from Desmond we were off. I was a bit fearful at first, but got the hang of it quick. It was actually pretty easy to operate. Riding through the villages and trails though the banana plantations was great fun and a fantastic way to see parts of the island you usually wouldn't get to explore. We stopped a few times to learn about the banana plantations, check out an old sugar plantation, and see a chicken farm. Our last stop was to take in the view of the beautiful coast and have a quick drink. When we returned our transportation was waiting for us to take us back to the hotel, the operation ran like clockwork. Desmond did a great job and it was a truly memorable day. My son asked if we could go it again on another day, too bad we couldn't stay in St. Lucia a bit longer!

Our guide, Desmond was very good. He took time to make sure we knew how to operate the quads. We drove through little villages and through farm land and banana plantation. Excellent couple of hours
