We had heard about the street party or jump up and decided to go. There is a lot of vendors serving up rum punch and cooked food. There is a good atmosphere with the locals mixing with the tourists. If you like reggae music blasting out your eardrums then this is the place for you!

The first bad part was that we were looking for the free bus on the street outside near our hotel. The party atmosphere was fine but it looked unsafe and the food was bad. The chicken was cold and the food in general had no taste. The music wasn't bad because we got to hear Socha music which was amazing.

In general, it is a horrible place to visit and its not recommended to go. But if you want to go anyway to still have fun, don't take your wallet or jewelry!!

Everyone in town was talking about the party and how the last one of every month is the best. We were told to go at 9 and dance till two. Well we got there at 9:45 and it was fun but not what we expected. Only a few people selling crafts and food but every house was selling out of a makeshift bar. The main dance area was full of tourists till about 10:30 where they played older Top 40 dance tunes and Bob Marley. Then the music changed and the crowd shifted to younger locals. We were advised to stay on the main street only for safety reasons and did and did not feel worried. Be prepared for people asking for money and wanting to sell you cigars and other smokable items. overall fun but not worthy of the hype.

Sample the local food and drink plus music all around. Great way to get the feel of the island and sample just how friendly the St Lucians are.

We were at the street party November 22 - we had a great time. We went with a couple from our resort and with a local tour guide from the island. Having the guide with us made it really great because we had the opportunity to go to his local bars and meet some really great people. But even without our host, it would have a been a great time - lot's of food cooking on BBQs and makeshift "bars" set up on the street. A live DJ and lots of tourists and locals dancing in the street. One of the highlights for us was when we were leaving - we decided to stop and pick up some BBQ chicken and pork before going back to the resort. It was very very inexpensive and one of the best meals we had on our trip! Highly recommend this street party.
