Fantastic holiday very relaxed and chilled. Loved the informal dress code in many restaurants. Staff were very friendly and we loved the one bedroom suite well worth the extra money.would definitely return

I see many fantastic reviews for this resort but am here to tell you that if you're expecting luxury and creature comforts, you'll be greatly disappointed. First, make sure you set up reliable transportation to hotel in advance. It takes over an hour to get from the airport to the resort and the drive is not a pleasant nor is it visually pleasing due to the amount of poverty on the island. The St. James Morgan Bay Resort is mediocre at best. I reserved a "Ocean View Deluxe" but there was nothing "deluxe about it. Just a basic room with a nice view. I could not imagine what the standard "Ocean View" room looks like if mine was a "deluxe". The room was fine, clean and adequate, just not "deluxe". The water pressure was horrible, the inside A/C unit in the room was layered in black mold. Additionally, although they do have 110 volt electricity, bring an extension cord because the outlet is under the desk and the mirror is on the opposite end of the room. The beach was a let down when compared to the gorgeous pictures on hotel website. Very small and dark sands. The water not Caribbean blue but rather Atlantic gray. The food was decent but reservation for something other than the buffet must be made days in advance. The drinks were as weak as could be, eight to ten pina colada's a day and not even a buzz. All in all, we had a nice relaxing time but will not be going back.

We chose St. James Club through an offer for our honeymoon on Travel Zoo.Beautiful country and resort. When we arrived we were greeted by the hotel management with an complimentry upgraded room and a cocktail. When we arrived in our room they had decorated our room with petals everywhere and made a swan out of a towel on our bed, which was beautiful and made us feel very welcome. Within 20 minutes there was a knock at the door and a bottle of Champagne was sent up on ice from the Management to say happy honeymoon, totally overwhelmed by now (and a little bit drunk before dinner ;-)!
Long story short, excellent food (and so much to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner) in all restaurants (there are 5 to choose from). You have to book the restaurants in advance and all I can say is book early as they soon get booked up. All the staff and there was a lot of them to tend to all your needs, were superb. The place is very clean everywhere, with great pools and gardens, loads of bars to top up your drinks, loads of free watersports and entertainment all through the day to suit all age groups, the lost goes on....
Our honeymoon was made magical. Choose this place and you won't be disappointed, we are certainly going back one day.
Definitely go on one of the boat trips down the west coast to the Pitons and visit the mudbaths, volcano, waterfall and gardens and then watch the sun set before your eyes drnking champagne. We booked this through the British Airways rep. It was few pounds but totally worth it.

Room Tip: Go for the apartments that i think are number 1000-3000... they are on the hill side. Superb views o...

My mum and I travelled to the St James Club Morgan Bay in May. After reading the reviews I knew it was going to be good.

On arrival at the hotel you are give a rum punch, which was greatly received after a long flight. The check in process was quick and simple and we were whisked off to our room on a little golf buggy.

The room was perfect with a great view of the beach and Morgan's Pier restaurant. The food is lovely and you have a choice of restaurants which you can book into 3 days in advance. Morgan's Pier was my personal favourite for food and location.

The facilities at the hotel are great. There are 4 pools, 2 that are adult only including a swim up bar. The range of drinks and cocktails is brilliant and you're never short of choice. The beach is cleaned every day and the resort is very clean. There are loads of activities that you can take part in, aqua aerobics, gym classes (the gym is a bit dated but it's ok). All the watersports are free (except jet skiing). You can kayak, paddle board, learn to waterski and sail.

The staff at the resort are always happy to help and they are very friendly. We had a problem with our airconditioning and we reported it to reception, within 2 hours we had a new unit and it was fully functioning. That is service!

This is very much a chilled resort and if you are looking for loud night life then it's probably not the place for you. There is evening entertainment but it's not too intrusive and you can partake if you wish.

Be sure to go on Joy's Cruise. He operates from the beach under the almond tree. He and his son JJ are friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous time on our trip.

All in all this was a cracking resort and we had a fantastic holiday. Take me back please........

To the people who are looking to go to this hotel and are using trip advisor as an insight, please ignore the negative feedback from the 'certain types' of people wishing to write on sites like this - the hotel is a truly wonderful place to reside whilst on holiday and i couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Me and my wife spent our honeymoon at St James hotel and from start to finish, the service we received was first class - nothing was ever too much trouble for the amazing staff the hotel employs. From the receptionists to the barmen/women to the pool attendants to the waiters (especially Dwight) and waitresses etc, they all work their damn socks off in providing you with a quality service and me and my wife couldn't thank everyone of them enough - they all deserve a huge amount of credit and pay rises (one for the manager to deal with :-)).

The hotel itself was superb, from the 5/6 (cant quite remember) different restaurants to choose from, you are never short of trying something different to eat or drink. The pool bar is brilliant and again the service was quality, particularly from you 'passion fruit'. The entertainment team are brilliant, with Ozzy and his team trying to get everyone involved in the days activities, it really does feel like a huge 'family atmosphere'. Water sports are available on the beach (approx a 30 seconds walk from the pool bar area), here we found you can do all types of water sports - from Jet Skis to Water skiing. Boat trips of the island are also available and i would urge anyone looking to go on them to just do it, Joys cruises/travel are situated on the beach and i couldn't recommend them highly enough! They take you on a tour (via a speedboat) of the island and they show you the amazing sites that need to be seen (waterfall, Volcano etc) and you even stop for lunch at beachside - it really is a fabulous day!! Special Thanks to Joy, Terry and Johnny for that one!!

The hotel room itself was what you would expect - clean, tidy, spacious and presented in a good manner.

I have tried to make it as brief as i could without boring every one but please if you are looking to go to St Lucia then put this hotel at the top of your list to stay. Again, please ignore the negative feedback as it really is an insult to the amazing staff who work at the hotel, the staff played a huge part in making our honeymood all that more special.

Me and my new wife will be returning to the hotel one day and i would not have a seconds doubt in recommending it to people. THANK YOU ST JAMES HOTEL, YOU REALLY MADE OUR HOLIDAY :-)))

ps, look out for celebs :-)

This resort is BORING. If you are looking for a FUN time then I would suggest going somewhere else. I noticed that many of the resort’s patrons were older couples who were okay with going to bed at 10PM whereas the group of people I was with wanted to have FUN. There’s no food options after 9:30PM and the last bar closes at 12:30AM. The entertainment is amateur and there is no music or activities throughout the day. The food was decent, it was impossible to get reservation’s some nights. The food at the Morgan Pier was great! There were a lot of dirty cats roaming the restaurants which I thought was unsanitary because a lot of them had open wounds and they would walk by the food and touch your legs while you were sitting. The Tree Top restaurant was delicious! I was hoping for more authentic St. Lucian food but it seemed like they were catering International dishes. There’s no one to come around to bring you drinks while you’re sitting by the pool. I have paid much less for resorts in other countries and I have received better service. This resort is definitely over priced and I wouldn’t suggest it unless you are getting a good deal. The best thing about the trip was leaving the resort… they had cheap taxi’s that took us to the casino, to the street party on Friday night, to morgan bay beach and to eat at a restaurant called Spinnakers. BRING EC DOLLARS!!!! They take American money but they do not give change in American.

Room Tip: Get an oceanview!

This was a lovely holiday for my 50th birthday. We stayed in room 333 it was very comfortable and spacious with coffee maker and air con. Outside our room was a huge tree full of humming birds.
The staff were very friendly and courteous, the restaurants served lovely food and there was drinks available all day from cocktails to coffee.
I especially liked the water aerobics every day at 11am, plenty of activities and water sports for those that way inclined otherwise a very lovely small sandy beach with plenty of sunbeds, nice and relaxing, will definitely be going back soon I hope.
