“Fantastic family reunion in paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

I spent a wonderful week in February 2012 at Le Gallerie with my extended family - a large group including several adults plus six children aged one to eleven. So many aspects of the visit were exceptional beginning with the graciousness and helpfulness of the owner, Bar, who arranged for airport transportation, groceries and first two days' meals, extra beds for children, information about activities, etc., and promptly answering any questions we had. The setting is indescribably spectacular - it's hard to imagine a more beautiful view. The house was extremely spacious and comfortable with more than enough room for our large group. Every member of the household staff was friendly and helpful. We loved Shermaine's cooking and ate every meal at the house; Catherine was always smiling and friendly and happy to help in any way she could, Albert was lots of fun and full of information. It was the perfect week and none of us would hesitate to return!

Le Gallerie hosted our wonderful wedding in November 2011. From the moment that we'd found the house online, Barbara could not have been more attentive and accommodating. She went out of our way to make sure that all we had to do on our big day was relax and have fun.
We'd decided to invite 8 friends along to our wedding and from the moment we all arrived at Le Gallerie we were impressed. We arrived at sunset and our entire party was in awe of the surroundings and sunset that greeted us. The location, accommodation and staff were even better than we expected them to be!
Throughout our week at the house we had superb food, amazing views and superb hospitality. The entire team could not have done more to make us feel more relaxed and welcome. We genuinely didn't need to do anything other than agree what food we wanted and when. The staff respected privacy and kept a low profile but were always on hand if we needed anything.
Our wedding was the first one hosted at the house and Bar did an amazing job to ensure that everything went to plan on the day (despite her being in the UK!). I hear it's common place for brides to be quite stressed on their big day but all I had to do was get ready and walk up a flight of stars to the ceremony which overlooked the Pitons! The photographer that she arranged for us was friendly and professional, the celebrant was welcoming and humorous and the band had everyone up dancing! It was certainly a day and night to remember.
We spent the majority of our week in Le Gallerie relaxing by the pool and admiring the view. We didn't feel the need to venture very far but Bernard was always happy to drive us if we needed to be anywhere or wanted a change of scenery.
Apparently a lot of people say that their friends tell them that their wedding was the best they'd ever been to but all 8 guests could not have had a more fabulous week! The house is an amazing place for a group of friends to relax and have fun together! The venue certainly made our wedding day amazingly special and I'd highly recommend Bar and her team to anyone!
We'd definitely like to return again one day....!

My fiancé and I spent 10 wonderful days at Le Gallerie.

The house is in a secluded location with breathtaking views over the Piton mountains. The location and backdrop was very romantic however given the size of the property we would love to take back a group of our family or friends when we visit next time. The house is very well appointed and even if there was a big group staying there is plenty room to find your own space.

The staff were excellent and the food prepared every day by Catherine was delicious to the extent we preferred to dine at the house rather than eat out. She also makes a killer Rum Punch but go easy as we found out its made with some very potent local rum! Albert the night watchman was also good company and entertained us with interesting tales about the island.

If you are looking for a really chilled out holiday with great food and spectacular views in a unique location then we would highly recommend.

We just spent a week at Le Gallerie with a family of six (kids from 15 to 8) and can’t say enough great things about it. For us, the words “relaxing” and “breathtaking” aren’t usually used to describe the same vacation so this was a very unique getaway. The ocean vistas, the Pitons, the flowers, the hummingbirds, rainbows, and sunsets all seem to be right out of central casting for tropical paradise….and that is without leaving the villa!
The owners were very helpful and accommodating in answering our many (and often last minute) questions as well as offering up great recommendations for local drivers, fishing, etc. It is obvious that they are also very discerning in choosing and maintaining the wonderful and friendly people working at the property. Brian, the property manager, was there when we arrived to give us the overview and always available by phone to answer our questions. Sharmaine’s cooking was a treat and she was able to make absolutely fantastic meals that met our large breadth of palates, which is a challenge. Catherine and Tiki went about their activities with big smiles. Albert, the night watchman, was a great person, very friendly and more than willing to answer all of our kid’s questions (and there were many) about life on the island before helping us close up the house and heading out for his nightly duties.
The pre-order groceries and dinner allowed us to get into vacation mode immediately upon arrival so we would highly recommend this. We did not rent a car but rather had a driver arranged for us by Brian who would either take us around and wait for us or come back and fetch us as necessary. Everything that was arranged for us was friendly, professional, and punctual. We did a half day fishing and snorkeling trip out of Souffriere and thought it was great. We had the whole family on board and it was nice both to see the island from the water and to get an up close view of some of the “super-yachts” that frequent the bay as we came back in to go snorkeling between the Pitons.
The walk down to the resort (Anse Chastenet) from the villa is about 5-10 minutes but seems a lot longer coming back up. It is probably worth a few bucks to have a taxi bring you back up the hill but we were too proud. We snorkeled at the resort (top notch) and had lunch which was good but the two lunches cost us half as much as our entire food bill at the house for the week. Our favorite thing to do was simply to head down to the private rock beach below the property for world class snorkeling and then come back up and hang out by the pool. The path down to the water from the villa would be tough for the grandparents but we loved it as it added to the fun and adventure. The late afternoons were reserved for beers and rum punches by the pool as we watched the kids swim and the cruise ships come into the bay for sunset views of the Pitons. As earlier comments noted, it was hard to get back to the real world.

We stayed here right after attending a friends wedding at Sandals Regency, and I wish we would have spent the whole time at this house. Bernard the driver was very helpful, fair priced, and reliable. The daytime staff prepared us some excellent local food, and kept the house spotless. Albert the night watchmen, was the best of them all, making us feel safe and secure at each night of our stay. The owner was a great resource for activity ideas and answers to our questions. As far as the house is concerned, it accommodated our large group nicely. All bedrooms had bathrooms in the unit, and the living and dining area were big enough for us all to enjoy each others company, with out feeling like we were on top of each other. The snorkeling below was fun, but the black sand beach (a 15 minute walk away) was awesome, Crystal clear waters and great views. I recommend this house to anyone looking for true st. lucia experience, and want to avoid paying for overpriced all inclusive resorts.

By the way, feel sorry for the previous poster that had valuables stolen, But we had no issues with this. We did not all consistently use the safes, and had valuables in every room, nothing was taken from any of us.

We stayed for 10 days in October 2009 and have been congratulating ourselves on that particular choice from the moment we drove through the gates.

When we arrived we were greeted by the wonderful staff who immediately made us feel welcome and began our transition from travellers to revellers.

From taxi to front door we saw an attractive house in gated grounds but there was little to prepare us, walking through into the open areas, for the view.
The photos available on the websites give you an idea of what to expect, but to stand where they were taken and to see for yourself, is the beginning of a truly amazing holiday in the Caribbean.

Our rooms were wonderful. Walking through them the one thing that took the eye from the way they were prepared for us was the view from the balcony. The sight of the Pitons and the Ocean, from a position you feel is just yours, has to be seen to be believed.

The spectacle of the Pitons and the view of the Ocean disappearing away to the horizon could be seen from almost everywhere in and around the house. The Sunrises and Sunsets were breathtaking and should not be missed, because every one that you are lucky enough to watch takes you another step into a holiday to remember.

The pool and deck area is a very special place to begin to unwind and ease into the St Lucia pace of life. Whether you want to lounge in the sun, read, swim, eat drink or just chat. It’s a tough choice, but beware the Rum Punches, they can sneak up on you.

The town of Soufriere isn’t far away and is thoroughly charming with a range of shops, restaurants and bars. And visits into town offered the opportunity to meet the local people, who were always friendly and welcoming.

Although they were recommended, we didn’t take any of the trips out to see the Volcano, or adventure into the Rain Forrest, or even to go out on the boat trips that were available (we hope to have something to say about those next time). But diving with Chester, from Action Adventure Divers, on the local reefs and wrecks added some great activity and went some way to ease the waist-line conscience when sitting down to dinner and to balance the softer side of an incredibly relaxing break.

If you want to go to somewhere spectacular, where you can really unwind at whatever pace that suits, with options to be more active if you feel the need, and to wake each day to a view that will stay with you forever, then Le Gallerie gets a massive tick in the box from us.

A word of warning.

Have someone from home call you the day before you’re supposed to leave.

Trust me, you’ll need a reminder. We HAD to leave, another group were due after us, otherwise……..??
