We just got back from Stonefield and I can honestly say that this was the most relaxing vacation that my husband and I have ever taken. It was our 15th wedding anniversary and our second time to St Lucia. We chose Stonefield based on that I wanted something completely different than we did last time which was Sandals. It was relaxing, romantic, private... just bliss.
The Stonefield is a great getaway. We loved our villa, Casaurina, and it's plunge pool overlooking the petit Piton and the ocean. It's outdoor shower was another favorite. I took a cheap float to relax in the pool which someone else recommended. My husband's favorite place to relax was in the hammock on the porch.
We ate often at the Mango Tree on property. The service lacked a little and the menu was limited at times for picky eaters but we addressed this in our survey at the end of our stay and were pleasantly surprised when we received a email from the General Manager before we even got home. Very impressive.
We only went out a couple of times. We took the Volcano and Mineral Springs excursion with Simon Says. (I'll be giving him a rave review as well) It was amazing. We also went to the local Friday night fish fry by boat. Well worth the cultural trip plus we made some new friends.
I booked our airport transfers with St. Lucia Airport Shuttles. He was $10 US cheaper than the resort and Janus was prompt and amazingly nice. My husband accidentally left his cell phone in the car and Janus saw it and hunted us down at the airport before we left.
If you are looking for a peaceful and romantic setting you cannot beat a trip to Stonefield. Also, the people of St Lucia are welcoming and great to be around.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the ocean. You will not be disappointed

My family was robbed the first night at Stonefield Resort in St. Lucia this spring while we went to dinner. The resort and police conducted a very cursory investigation which was clearly aimed at harassing us, the victims of the crime. The police did agree, however, that it was an inside job. Restitution of lost property has been refused by the Stonefield Resort. They have also refused to give us the final police report. Choose a safer resort if you intend to visit this beautiful island.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, be sure there actually is 24 hour security.

Our chalet had its own large pool, and was set against the backdrop of the towering pitons and the beautiful ocean. The hours spent in the hammock on the veranda, and messing around the pool were some of the most peaceful and pleasant in recent memory. Our chalet and its 'grounds' were very secluded - it's rare to get this kind of privacy without paying an absolute fortune for a private residence.

I was a little concerned about the lack of immediate beach access, but to be honest as soon as we got into our little compound we just didn't want to leave.

Given how peaceful and serene this place is, I'd be disinclined to take a large group or a young family there. But it is ideal for couples, and I can't think of many places to go for a honeymoon...

Room Tip: Ask for a chalet as high up the hill as possible. The further up the hill you get, the less overloo...

Stonefield is a small resort with private villas scattered in beautiful grounds amongst trees. Traditional villas, are clean and spacious with lovely outdoor showers personal pools and a big veranda with hammocks. The resort is very quiet and perfect if you want to relax and unwind, with the usual st lucian tree frogs, crickets and birds making a din all night. Breakfasts were delicious with a fruit plate, pancakes and jams. The view from the restaurant is fantastic onto petit piton and the sea. The hotel doesn't have a beach, though there is one nearby which is walkable, and the hotel provides a shuttle. Soufrere is 15 mins walk, or 12US taxi and worth checking out the local restaurants, as dinner at the hotel restaurant is expensive and underwhelming.

This the a place for ultimate relaxation with a significant other. It is so peaceful and quiet. The sounds of birds and breeze are amazing. The view is breathtaking. Looks directly at petit piton and the ocean. Our stay at the end of May is right before the rainy season but I guess it came early because it rained a lot. But that didn't take away anything from the resort. Beautiful natural landscaping and very secluded private pool areas. We enjoyed not having a tv and wifi was available in a couple common areas to check in back at home. We took the steep walk to the rocky beach below and it was really interesting. Lots of pretty volcanic stones and nice pieces of sea glass too. Just to note, we went into town to look for shops and felt very vulnerable. Lots of locals approaching us and really there was nothing to buy there.

Room Tip: We stayed at Ginger Lily and it was very secluded with view of the piton and ocean.

After searching for weeks and reading reviews my then GF (now fiancé) and I finally settled on Stonefield. At first we were going to stay there for a full week but after reading some of the reviews regarding the beach access and mosquitoes, we decided to split up our stay: half at Stonefield and half at Ti-Kaye (separate review). This particular review is for Stonefield. We decided to rent a car during our visit in Saint Lucia and it was well worth it. Driving is on the left hand side of the road and it may seem nerve racking at first but once you drive, you’ll get used to it. The roads are hilly and winding so be careful especially the twists and turns. When we arrived at the resort, the general manager greeted us personally and we were giving a refreshing drink. Overall, the staff at Stonefield is very friendly, warm, and welcoming. We were led to our villa which was an ocean view. It has a view of the Caribbean Sea and the Petit Piton. All villas on the property have a plunge pool and have ocean views with the exception of two that have garden views. I recommend getting an ocean view, it is worth it! The pictures they have on their website do not do it justice. You have to be there and see for yourself. Our villa was very private and secluded as it was on the edge of the property. It was the perfect villa as we loved the seclusion and privacy it offered. My only gripe I had about our villa was that upon arrival, the toilet was not thoroughly clean. I did not raise this issue with management only because it’s a trivial issue and when they did service our room the next day, they did rectify it. The villa had both 110V and 220V so not a problem if you are coming from the US. One thing to note is that the resort is in the jungle so you will have ants, frogs, geckos, lizards, mosquitoes, various birds, etc. If you are not a nature fan, then this resort might not be for you. It does tend to get a little noisy at night especially with the frogs but it comes with the territory. The villa comes with a kitchenette which is basically a mini-fridge, coffee pot, plates, utensils, and a small tiny kitchen sink. If you bring food, do not leave it out as these tiny ants will come up right away. They are harmless and you’ll basically have to throw away your food. My concern was the mosquitoes as I am a magnet. I was expecting a lot worse but in actuality, the mosquitoes were not a problem during my stay at Stonefield. I had more a problem with them during our hike to Gros Piton. As long as you bring bug spray such as OFF you are fine. Keep your doors always closed and AC on and you won’t have a problem with mosquitoes. The bed comes with a mosquito net and the room with a citronella candle. The bed is also a bit on the harder side. The bathroom was big with two sinks, and its own separate outdoor shower which was awesome. The villa also had a walk in closet in which the safe was also located.

The resort only has one restaurant – Mango Tree. During our stay breakfast was complimentary which was both good and bad. Great that breakfast was already included, bad that it’s the same items. Each day does have a special item only for that day. The food, overall, was very good. It is a bit pricey but you are on vacation and you are on a resort so food and drinks, no matter what will be expensive. I read some reviews that it was the same menu for lunch and dinner as well. Luckily we rented a car and we were able to eat at other restaurants like Dasheene at Ladera or Boucan.

One thing to note is that if you want to have direct beach access this resort is not for you. All beaches at Saint Lucia are public and the resort does provide a shuttle bus to nearby beaches like Sugar Beach and others. The problem is that you are at the mercy of the shuttle bus schedule if you do not rent a car or hire a taxi driver. Also, be advised that if you do go to Sugar beach, since you are not a guest at that resort, you will not have access to amenities offered by Sugar beach. You also just can’t get any space at Sugar Beach. When you get there, there is the beach for guests of Sugar Beach, then there is a beach for non guests. Think of Harry Potter and his cupboard-sized bedroom. That’s your beach area if you don’t stay at Sugar Beach. You are treated like the unwanted step-child by Sugar Beach. We inquired about this from Stonefield and they indicated that they are trying their best to resolve the situation with Sugar Beach. We do understand that this is not Stonefield’s fault. However, be advised that if you really want the beach, it’s better to stay at a place like Sugar Beach or other resorts up on the north part of the island with direct beach access.

Overall, our stay at Stonefield was amazing. The views are fantastic, the staff very friendly, food was good, plunge pool awesome, and our villa very, very private. I did forget to mention that wifi is only available at the restaurant or reception. It’s great in a way that you can totally be disconnected from the world, and just really focus on relaxing, de-stressing, and taking in the beauty of Mother Nature. It is bad in a way that if you want to book certain tours or look up reviews online, you would have to get out of your villa. For us this was not a problem and it was not an inconvenience. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of not being totally connected to the digital world. It’s a great place to disconnect, unplug, forget everything, and just focus on our vacation and each other. In one word: it’s paradise.

With Stonefield being so small and each villa different, it is important to select the right one. We stopped in Jacaranda and thought it was great. What is good about it?
1. It is very private and you are not overlooked like many of the other villas. For a romantic holiday, do consider this villa.
2. It has a proper cooker, so if you want to cater yourself you can - and as prices are quite high in St Lucia, you may want to do this occasionally.
3. Great views of the sea and piton (like most have) and lots of space.
4. You're just a short step up to the restaurant and big pool (which you need, if you want to do any proper swimming, as Jacaranda's pool is one of the smaller ones at Stonefield).
The key downside I would say about it, is that we were eaten alive by tiny bugs (not mosquitoes) when sitting outside on the veranda and on the sun loungers. I'm still itching now, days afterwards.
Overall though a nice place.

Room Tip: Jacaranda is one of the most private villas at Stonefield.
