Although the biking itself might not be the greatest the entire experience is brilliant. We were picked up from our hotel at Rodney Bay and then whisked off down the coast to the beach at Anse Chastanet were we were met by our jungle biking guru Jovan. He got us all fitted onto bikes and then made sure the whole group got accustomed to them. (Being from England the brakes are the wrong way round, so it was helpful to have that pointed out!) We were then taken on a quick loop around the basic trail which spans the entire estate, learning about the history along the way! We even stopped on the way round for some fresh fruit which was delicious! After this orientation loop we were then left to our own devices and to ride to our hearts content.
There are loads of trails to explore ranging from a simple forest loop to the tough "tinkers trail" which is a must if you're an avid cyclist. This is the best trail there and the fews from the top are quite incredible! Expect a tough hike up though!
Lunch is included in the price and is eaten on the beach. Its mainly burgers but after a morning sweating in the jungle its exactly what's needed! You can then spend the afternoon riding some more although we all opted to go for a snorkel and relax on the beautiful beach.
All in all it is an excellent day made even better by the superb hospitality of Jovan!
One tiny thing to note, and it is such an insignificant thing that it should definitely not put you off going biking is that the bikes are a bit old and not hugely well maintained. However they are still completely safe. I would recommend that if you are a keen cyclist and you have a pair of pedals that you are fond of (spd's or flats) consider taking them because the ones on the bikes are very slippy and do make riding the more technical trails a bit hairy!
