Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

I have been coming to the restaurant since it had open. This was the first time the meal was not quality. I had a rib steak and it was so thin that they could not cook it medium rare. The waitress did not even come to check if the food was done as requested. The view was Ok but things keep growing and getting taller. Road noise was loud the night I was at the restaurant. May the evening less enjoyable. Last that night I did not feel well several hours after eating the dinner. Ok maybe it was something else but after I disposed of the dinner I did feel a lot better. I ate a full breakfast the next morning , no problem. Sorry Boucan but you did not live up to your standards.

We are so sorry that we didn't live up to your expectations for the first time in several visits.

Sounds like several things all made it a night to forget, extremely rare for a Boucan guest,
but one which, I would like to reassure you, we take extremely seriously. The quality of our food, our service and our ambience are all crucial to the success we have built.

We would like to ask you for the opportunity to rebuild your faith in us. Would you be so kind as to make contact with me, the Guest Relations Director, Judy Buckley, on 758 724 6181

Hotel looks great as did the restaurant. The food was good and well described by the staff. It wasn't cheap. If you go pop across the road to the Landera for a drink with some amazing views.

The whole experience deserved 5 stars but if you like strong, dark chocolate (which I don't particularly) then you will be very happy. Most things came with a chocolate twist which makes this very memorable.

Its all about cacao, a light savoury ingredient which can be ultra subtle in most of our dishes. Most diners are surprised by the innovation of how we use what we grow on our estate. Thanks for the lovely comments.

A remarkable menu, full of chocolate references which sound in some cases unusual (innovative, to be kind) but without fail resulted in delicious dishes whether the chocolate element was obvious or not.
We visited for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The wine list is perhaps a little off kilter with the menu pricing; there are some affordable wine options but the prices soon soar, more suited for special occasion dining which is not what we were there for.
Our only niggle was the speed of service, though this seems to be us being somewhat at odds with the Caribbean way, and service was by no means poor overall. Servers were attentive and polite and the overall quality of the food excellent.

Thanks for your comments and delighted you enjoyed. The food is all cooked from fresh local ingredients (no shortcuts!) and our wine list aims to scale the range of what our guests are looking for – everyday to special day.

We were there Tuesday evening for the Caribbean buffet. We had a great meal, but were a little disappointed to miss the regular menu we had heard raves about. I particularly loved the red wine pairings for their chocolate truffles!
