Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

High praise here, as Boucan was the site of our favorite dinner(s) on one of my favorite vacations ever. We visited the Soufriere area for 4 nights. Our original plan was to try 4 different restaurants for dinner, but we ended up returning to Boucan for a repeat visit on our final night. First and foremost, the food was delicious. The atmosphere and food have a fine dining feel, but at the same time, you get a lot of value for your money. Dinner is preceded by bread and an assortment of chocolate-related spreads, as well as an amuse-bouche (warm pumpkin soup our second visit - yum). The food is rich, flavorful, awesome. The chocolate theme is integrated skillfully and is not at all gimmicky. But, of course, dessert is a must. (We preferred the Piton meringue dessert that we had on our first night to the molten cake that we had on our second night, though both were tasty). Between the two of us, my husband and I also enjoyed quiche, steak, dorado, and duck. The walk across the way from Ladera is easy (it's super close) but a little dark, so bring a flashlight if you want a little more light. I feel fortunate that we were able to indulge here not once but twice. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the hotel and ate here 6 nights out of 7 and while you think you may get sick of the whole Chocolate theme - You don't! The menu is varied and everything is expertly prepared and presented and tastes divine!

The goats cheese starter broke my heart it was so good and the Risotto main - took my breath away! Deserts, well if you have room...... They of course are spectacular!

If your in St. Lucia - Don't miss this!

We went here for dinner and did the bean to bar tour. I would definitely recommend the bean to bar tour and get lunch included. You get a nice view of the Pitons and the cocktails are great.

Thanks - we are a bit proud of our cocktails. Unique recipes with premium spirits (only) and fresh fruit (never out of a bottle).

We went to Boucan last night and loved every minute of it. Just a shame that they didn't have the duck which was the dish I had really set my heart on.

We got there a little early so as to enjoy the cocktails which did not disappoint. The mojito was amazing! Staff seemed friendly and service was prompt even though the restaurant was very busy. For starters we had chicken liver parfait which was delicious but rich and the goats cheese which didnot look amazing on the plate but tasted great. Due to the fact that no duck was on offer for main we both ended up having steak which was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were just right. The food was very rich however which meant we did not have desert. An excuse to go back next week!

The food was expensive but it was worth it. I have been slightly disappointed by my foodie experience on st lucia so far but Boucan made up for that.

What I would like to know is whether the bar is open to the public for an evening drink? The cocktails were so delicious and as we are staying in a private house just up the road, it would be nice to know we could pop in.
