Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

“Great Food & Service”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We had lunch with a few drinks here while staying across the road at Ladera resort. The food and service was fantastic, and of course the chocolates were amazing.

I can highly recommend visiting for lunch or dinner.

“A very choco experience.”

We had two meal at Hotel Chocolat Boucan, the first was dinner and it was superb as we had chocolate everywhere, the dessert was out of this world if you are a chocolate lover this place is for you, the second meal was our last lunch in the island and the burger was just delicious as I was craving meat, with plantain chips and onion rings, we'll recommend it anytime.

“Thoroughly enjoyable chocolate infused meal”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

During our honeymoon stay in Soufriere we booked a meal at Boucan after hearing good things. We arrived early so enjoyed the view with a lovely cocktail before being seated for dinner.

The menu wasn't vast but was original and although initially we were sceptical about chocolate in every dish it really worked! Highlights definitely included the tartare starter and duck main. The dessert was maybe a bit disappointing (I was hoping for a chocolate explosion!) but the espresso martini more than made up for it as a night cap!

We would definitely recommend a visit.

“Very relaxing place and gorgeous chocolate!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The Boucan Restaurant at Hotel Chocolat is open plan so you can see into the kitchen and see the food being prepared but the view of the Pitons is what you really want to be looking at. It's such a beautiful location and the restaurant really makes the most of it. The decor is very modern, with lots of dark wood, lovely cutlery and comfortable furniture.

We had lunch there after doing the Chocolate tour (which I also highly recommend). We started with a Cocoa Tea each while we waited for lunch time service to start, that was delicious with quite a lot of sugar added, and reminded me of the proper cocoa we used to drink when I was little.

For lunch we were given breads with a selection of three chocolate based oils/dips to begin. I had a caramelised nut salad with a chocolate dressing and my husband had a cheeseburger with cocoa nibs in the bun. Both were delicious but the cheeseburger initially came without any cheese! The staff are friendly and polite. I would have loved to go back and try some of the other items on the menu but we only had time for one visit.
