Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious too. everything on the menu has something to do with chocolate. but you don't have to love chocolate to appreciate the amazing food. I love chocolate but my husband doesn't and he enjoyed the food as much as I did!

It's great that you pointed out how subtle the cacao influence can be. Much appreciated!

Really enjoyed dinner and drinks here with family. Beautiful view, cool hip atmosphere a short drive from our resort (sugar beach). Save room for dessert!

Hip atmosphere - we all liked this, thanks. When you set out to be hip it's difficult to achieve but if you set out to provide an architecturally beautiful space with a high quality dining experience and a natural ambience, you stand a chance!

We recently had lunch at this smart restaurant there appeared to be lots of young staff with great enthusiasm however they seemed to be learning there trade.
The meal my husband chose (meat based) the chef advised not to order as hey was unhappy about the quality of the meat .
The rest of the meal was just ok .
Price was on par with quality restaurants on the island
Beautiful facilitates however the Ladera just across the road had a better view of the pitons.
Impressed with the use of Cacao chocolate in all of the menu ,the chocolate butter was very good.

We do have a mixture of experience and youth, it's true, all recruited and trained from the local community.

We enjoyed eating here a lot. The good was elegantly presented and delicious. The restaurant was beautiful and spacious with wonderful views and great service. It's pricier than what we would usually treat ourselves to.

We stayed at Hotel Chocolat for our honeymoon and ate breakfast at Boucan for 5 days and a couple dinners there as well. Ladera is right across the street with a better view of Petit Piton but we preferred Boucan because of their cuisine that made creative use of cacao and chocolate (chocolate infused butter, chocolate dipping sauces, a cacao pasta, drinks made from the cacao plant, etc...).

Pricey but in the same range as the other high end restaurants catering to tourists in the area. Service, quality and a view were worthy of the price.

Huge and delicious breakfasts, so big that we skipped lunch every day. We enjoyed fresh fruit, fresh juices like soursop, tamarind, passion fruit, mango, and lime and the best eggs. Dinners were rich and delicious and serving sizes were plenty for small eaters like us.

Romantic and delicious.
