“Brilliant Week”

We arrived to be greeted by a rum punch and enjoyed the sunset with the Pitons. The week seemed to get even better - the staff were fantastic at making sure our rooms were always clean and food was there for us, and the house itself is fantastic with a pool that has a view to die for! It's location is perfect with town being a short drive down the hill for shopping, scuba diving, or the beach where we spent a couple of days. Overall a fantastic week just before Christmas, I'll definitely be returning.

“Bananaquit House - perfection”

I had the pleasure of spending six magnificent days here at the start of the peak season. This is a place for complete relaxation, nestled high on a mountain edge and surrounded by luscious tropical rainforest. The house itself is spacious and airy, looking on to the Caribbean Sea and St Lucia's famous Piton mountains. There are fantastic vantage points all over the house, but the infinity pool was particularly special! All cleaning and cooking was taken care of by the attentive staff leaving us free to unwind and chill. The house is relatively close to two exceptional beaches, one at Soufriere Bay and the other Anse Chastanet. Anse Mamin beach, although a little further on from the latter, is definitely worth the walk!

“Not Just a Destination....More of an Embrace”

If you can't be happy at Bananaquit, you're not likely to be happy anywhere. The natural beauty at this part of the island is a mix of geographical marvels (the two Pitons - featured on St. Lucia's National Flag) within a mile or two as the crow flies, the magnificent expanse of water dropping to depths of over a thousand feet, a villa reflecting architecture of another era and a caring staff that makes the whole experience seamless. You get to spend your time enjoying everything the island offers while Brian, Joan, Cyrilla, Brenda, Theresa and Julius deal with all administrative issues. The beds are made up in a fashion a Marine Recruit at Parris Island could envy but not emulate, flower petals and little decorations remind you that the staff are always nearby. Laundry is done daily. Watch the sunset from the infinity pool with its cycle of colored lights. The delights go on and on. I was the father of the bride and I don't think it could get any better.

“Incredible place to be, any time of day”

Just wanted to drop a line to say that we enjoyed our stay here so much, it was absolutely perfect.

The views over the sea and the Piton constantly change and are breathaking everytime you look up from a book, or wonder over to the balconies to just stare.

The house itself is spectacular and comfortable with the advantage of being completely open-sided to enjoy the Caribean breeze, see the wildlife and bird life whilst lounging on the lovely sofas.

The staff are kind, friendly and good fun and make the stay really special. A feast of a breakfast every morning and then whatever you fancy during the rest of the day and evening, they are only too happy to oblige. I can still taste the fresh juice from the fruits in the garden!

A number of beachs and resorts are nearby, including Sugar Bay (seriosuly nice) and Anse Chastenet (also lovely and has a good bar if you need a night out with some food and cocktails).

The great thing about the house is that you feel like you don't need to leave it. It is so spacious that one doesn't every feel on top of your fellow group members, everyone can space out. We could have easily spent all day every day at the house, and it being quiet and secluded makes that feel even more special.

I would recommend this to anyone who is fortunate enough to be able to go. You won't be disappointed.

“Ideal Home in St Lucia”

Bananaquit was absolutely beyond our expectations. It is a huge, beautiful house with spectacular views of the Pitons and the sunset. The entire house was kept spotless daily by the staff. When we arrived, my wife and I set up a menu with the chefs that we would like for the week. They prepared us breakfast, lunch and dinner daily that was delicious! They are great at preparing authentic local food. A lot of the fruit and vegetables come straight from Bananaquit's own back yard. The staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating. They even washed and folded our clothes at the end of the week.
They charge for groceries and 15% charge for shopping for us. When we got the bill at the end of the week, we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was.
Would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking. We're excited to come back someday.

“Million dollar view; friendly staff; VERY isolated and needs some updating”

Fantastic view and overall lovely home, however the road to the property was treacherous and it is extremely isolated. The staff (Joan and Brenda) were very nice and did their best to accommodate all requests; there was an issue with large cockroaches, and not just in the kitchen area (which really needs updating along with some of the bathrooms), that persisted throughout the stay; however, to be fair there are really only 3 walls throughout much of the house, so it may simply be futile in this tropical climate. This also meant fairly warm sleeping conditions, even with AC units turned on and fourth wall shuttered off. The driver ("Bakes"/Bob) was exceptionally sweet and very accommodating to all our needs.
Overall, wonderful view but not luxurious and not worth the price.

Management Response

Dear Nancy,

Many thanks for your review and kind words regarding the staff. We take on board comments and feedback from all guests but with reference to your comments to the isolation, insects and need for updating we are a little confused. The location of the house is clearly marked on the map and the description of the hillside location and the need to hire a 4x4 also stated – we understand you chose not to follow this. The road leads down to one of the main resorts on the island Anse Chastanet, where many hundreds of people stay and visit each year without issue. All photos are current and the two lower bedrooms, deck, pool and gazebo have been completed less than a 8 months ago. The staff take great pride in the house and being a tropical climate eradicating insects is not possible despite their continued efforts. They clean the house every morning, as you will have noticed, and make the beds etc.

The kitchen although not from The Ritz has a new fridge freezer, commercial grade oven and hob as well as all other items anyone could desire – coffee machine, dish washer, ice maker, wine fridge etc and is in keeping with the Lucian feel of the house. Needless to say the staff cook most of your meals for you anyway. The air conditioning we have never had an issue with indeed when I stay I don’t have it on all evening as it gets too cold!

St Lucia is a place to unwind and take in the natural beauty of a more natural Caribbean island, to escape the mundane repetition of a packaged, off the shelf holiday. Perhaps you would be more suited to a resort in the North of the island, or Barbados is a more suitable destination in the future.

Overall we feel it is, although your opinion, an unfair representation of the experiences of our guests, and more a representation of the island in general. We are disappointed that you did not get the enjoyment that you were anticipating, as the vast majority of our guests in the past have done.

We wish you all the best for your future holidays.

Best Regards,
Bananaquit House
