“Meh...we will never go back”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

We are Diamond members and were lucky enough to get an ocean front room. After reading other reviews, I was afraid we will get stuck with one of the hill rooms. First the good things:
It's a great location, good restaurants around (
So French was great as well as Crave and Aldywan)
Not so good: rooms are horribly outdated, the mattress, pillows and sheets are so low in quality that we ended up with back pain. The employees (except for the front desk) don't have a clue what customer service means. They were rude, short and in one word: miserable. In one occasion we wanted to see the sunset and arrived to the beach 5 minutes until 6 PM. The employee at the beach took our lounge chairs and said he had to stack them because he was leaving in 5 min and if we wanted one, we will have to put them back in the stack...uh??? He even was upset we arrived at the beach at that time. After questioning him, he ended up giving us a regular chair as a "favor". Other day, we went to the activity center and the employees were playing video games; the towel guy was sleeping on his little tower, and I can go on and on and on...
Bottom-line: Stay away if you can or be prepared for a mediocre service. Or do as we did, we rented a car and stayed away of this place

Room Tip: Stay away....

This resort is located on a nice beach, at the best place of Simpson bay, a very pleasant , quiet and calm site. Excellent rooms and kind staff, one beach bar and restaurant very closed to the sea, so you can have drinks and meals looking at the sea and listening to the sound of waves. Since the rooms are so closed to the sea, you can turn the AC off, turn on the fan and fall asleep listening the sound of the waves. Besides, restaurants, caffes, casino, ATM, grocery store, supermarket, fast food, car rental and everything you need to enjoy an ideal vacation is located in the área.

Room Tip: Choose an ocean view room located on 3rd or 4th floor

Pros: The location is in Simpson Bay which makes this resort a stones throw away from the airport. The newly constructed bridge that leads you to the French side of the island in 2 minutes is located in Simpson Bay as well so the access point cant be beat.

The price was more than fair for the 8 days we stayed much less than most places and higher rated in stars. Great place for couples and families alike. Plenty of restaurants and food marts in walking distance.

The pool is nice and large enough to enjoy through 11pm. Fresh towels are always available. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful if you asked any questions they were more than happy to help.

The room was super clean and comfortable even the pull out bed. The air conditioner was in working order and our view was phenomenal.

Cons: The internet is slower than molasses uphill. If you intend to do business or school work online this location might not be for you. In addition, there is a charge of $10.00 per day for internet service with the option to pay more for increased speed.

The cleaning staff only comes every 2-3 days so if you have sand from the beach, which you will, its time to get creative with a broom and a folded piece of paper. There is a broom but there are no dustpans in the room. However if you call housekeeping they happily give you the supplies you need.

The beach is super rocky. I strongly suggest packing some beach shoes to save your Toes from abuse.

Know the costs for fees and services for the room upfront. The travel websites give you the sticker price, but there were about $266 in additional taxes and fees when it was all said and done. Between the fees for internet, 20% taxes that’s an extra few hundred not bargained for.

Overall if you come prepared this was a lovely place to stay and I would stay here again in a minute!

Thank you for choosing to stay with us, we hope to see you many more times in the future. We are glad to be situated in Simpson Bay, where our guests can not only get to us easily, but can also enjoy the beautiful scenery. This area also provides us some other benefits, such as the nearby restaurants and stores. Thank you for mentioning our value as well; we believe in Affordable Luxury, and are happy that you were able to experience that. At the Flamingo Beach Resort, we make our guests’ experience a priority, which is why we strive to provide the best service possible from, the air conditioner to your personal interactions with our team members, and everything in between. We do regret that the internet access was slow during your stay. Being that not all of our guests utilize the internet while staying with us, the cost of the internet access has not been built into the cost of the room, and is instead charged on a per use basis. As we are primarily a vacation ownership destination with hotel accommodations, our housekeeping services are not normally daily. If you wish to have additional services, they are available for an additional fee. It is unfortunate, but depending on the weather there may be some deterioration of the beach caused by wind, waves and storms. This removes sand from the beach, revealing rocks, but is cyclical as these factors can also bring sand back to the beach. We do take efforts to replace sand as needed and participate in restoration projects. There are some government mandated taxes in which all travelers should be made aware, and we attempt to do so by including this information on the resort’s fact sheet on our website.

The resort is located in Simpson Bay with good restaurants, grocery store in easy walking distance. The resort is clean and well maintained. Our was an ocean view in building 7. The room was spacious and the view was beautiful. The beach at the resort is really nice with fine white sand. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We have stayed at the Flamingo Beach Resort on many occasions and had a wonderful time each and every time. The rooms that face the beach are simply the best so be sure to ask for them or book one of those rooms ahead of time. We love the ability to walk to everything. We usually only rent a car one day to drive the entire island. Cars are available at the lobby of the hotel. We love the neighborhood to walk to the grocery story, restaurants and the casino. All very safe and friendly. The restaurant at the hotel is good and the prices are fair for breakfast and lunch. It's great to have the beach just outside your door. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room that faces the beach and water. The rooms on the parking lot are nothing...

Just got back from a week here. We are a Diamond members but don't own at this resort so could not be guaranteed an ocean room. Sure enough, they stuck us in one of the hillside buildings, #4, on the ground floor. We had a two bedroom lockoff so the porch on the smaller side ( A side) looked at some plants and a walkway. The balcony on the Larger unit ( B side) overlooked an ugly parking lot and a mound of dirt. For me, a balcony with view is critical since I normally spend a lot of time every morning out there since I arise much earlier than my family and like to have coffee and read there every morning. Looking at the parking lot was depressing. As far as the units themselves, they are a bit "tired" looking and could stand some updating. Our B unit had peeling paint on the walls and chair rails, mismatched cabinet trim in the kitchen and bath, broken dresser drawer in living room, and the A unit smelled like mildew from the first day. While there were basic utensils to cook with,, there was no spatula to flip eggs or pancakes with so we had to ask housekeeping to provide. Neither of our safes worked the first day and had to have maintenance come three times that day before it was fixed. We had three people staying on each side and while there were plenty of towels, there was not ample space to hang them to dry. They need more hooks on back of bathroom and bedroom doors. So my rating of 3 is due to our unit location and the appearance of it. Had we been in a better unit I'm sure my rating would be higher. Our friends had an oceanfront studio in Bldg 7 and loved it. We did enjoy the beach and water a lot My only two complaints about the beach are that Toppers plays mostly 50s or 60s music. I asked if they could change it to reggae, steel drum or calypso music. I was told they like to ease people into their mornings with the slow 50s music . I told them there were only a handful of older folks on the beach, and most of us want to hear island music when on vacation anyway, not oldies that put us to sleep. Later in the day they seem to play pop music. Other complaint is when i ordered one frozen cocktail, the bartender poured ithw whole blender into 2.5 cups and charged me $18. My husband walked up then so we kept all of it. But after that I made sure to tell them I wanted just ONE at a time. It seemed a way to gouge you for more money. Other thing that could make beach better is if they had staff to serve cocktails to us on the beach. The staff was very friendly for the most part. But we would only come back if we were guaranteed an oceanfront room.

Room Tip: Get building 7 ocean side or building 6 villas. Buildings 3 and 4 are the hillside villas that aren...

We love it there, in the last 5 yrs we have stayed at the resort at least 30 times and each stay
was pleasant just like all the previous trips.

The staff is very polite and attentive, upon arrival your treated like an old friend of the family. The resort staff has always been polite and friendly, its clean and well attended. The grounds are always well maintained and its refreshing to see the staff working together to achieve a "paradise setting" Toppers restaurant has a very efficient staff to compliment the feeling of a well organized vacation without any hassles. The rooms are clean and the housekeeping is impecable, plenty of kitchen utensils if you plan to stay in and cook a meal after lounging at the beautiful pool or clean beach with ample chairs and lounges.

We vacationed there for 2 weeks in November celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, the staff send a surprise bottle of champagne and that mage it all the more special...We can't wait to return in May for our spring trip.

Room Tip: Make every attempt to steer clear of the roomd facing the parking lot...it can get noisy out there...
