Flamingo Beach Resort

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was a wonderful location. This didn't get 5 stars because our screen door kept falling of the tracks, and we were slightly annoyed with some of the people selling things. The room was spacious, had storage space, and a full kitchen. The central air works well :) The pool was great, with plenty of lounge chairs. They provide 4 large beach towels that can be traded for fresh ones in the lobby or by the pool. Topper's, a bar/restaurant, is right on the resort. There are several restaurants, a grocery store, and a casino within walking distance. The beaches were great too! We would definitely return.

Room Tip: While being close to Topper's is entertaining, I would request to be a few rooms away at the min...

When we arrived late to St. Maarten due to some flight problems, we walked into the Flamingo to smiling faces and the can do attitude. We had a GREAT room, that was very clean and welcoming. this is our 4th time at this resort and keep coming back. The staff is great, the location is great and the fellow guests were also great! Racquel Dublin greeted us when we arrived, Armaldo Phelipa, the General Manager, has always been there for questions of help. Last but not least, the activity staff kept everything and everyone smiling and moving! There are free beach chairs and umbrellas, but we usually give the gentleman a few dollars for setting them up for us.There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance and the beach is calm for all ages. You do not need a car if you plan to stay only at this resort, but we always get one.Since we have a car, we usually shop at Le Grande Marche, they have 3-4 location on the island, the prices are not much higher than back home in Virginia. We usually have breakfast and lunch in the condo and dinner out. One of our favorite restaurants was Aldywan, it has Lebanese Cuisine and our always smiling waitress Forzana, was very attentive. We also ate at the Taste Factory for sweets, Pineapple Pete's for fish, The Carrousel for great Gelato and The Harbor Queen for ribs, to name a few. A place that we will go to next time we are in St. Maarten is called Little Jerusalem, I think the owners name is Abraham. We just stopped by to look at the menu and he gave us a sample of this lamb and chicken dish - outstanding! Spent two days in Philipsburg just looking around. If you plan to buy any watches or jewelery, have a good idea of what you are looking for and get some prices off the internet. This way you know if you are going to get a deal. The shop sales people usually have a calculator handy and discount off the suggested retail price, so there is a lot of wiggle room. As usual, the Flamingo did not disappoint, in fact, they keep getting better...

Came here via RCI points. Had a 2BR lock off with another couple. Rooms were nice, not exceptional but nice. We were up on the hill in building 3. Gets you exercise but if you are older, I would try to make sure you are down below. Unfortunately, all the 2BR units are on the hill or in one building next to the pool. Location is OK but again, it's downhill to the Main Street and an uphill hike back. Pool is nice, beach is nice. We were there off season so no problem getting under an umbrella but we heard that it's tough in the main season. Wifi was pretty horrible but free.

Room Tip: Try not to be in building 3.

Just returned home from a relaxing week at The Flamingo which is located on Simpson Bay on the Dutch side of the island. We rented a car at the airport since we wanted to explore the French side of the island as well as the Dutch, although realized a car is definitely not necessary at this resort. Flamingo is about 3 miles from the airport and a great location to do excursions, shop or do water sports. My husband and I do not have a great sense of direction so we got lost at our first attempt to find the resort but quickly realized how simple it was to locate once we discovered "the landmarks": Burger King and a huge illuminated Hollywood Casino sign, where we would turn and follow the narrow hilly road to the end. We arrived at 3p on a Saturday, were greeted by the friendly staff, checked in without a hitch and our room was ready. **Note: There was a large line to checkin at 4p. The welcome desk gave us coupons for restaurants and a discount card for the deli, restaurants, etc. There is a jewelry shop in the lobby too.
We stayed in an ocean view studio # 7230 ( on the second floor reached by elevator from lobby where you check in or stairs) which was partially overlooking the restaurant, Toppers, which had it's benefits: a private view of the Broadway show from our room on Thursday evening. The spacious air conditioned unit was clean and well equipped with a full kitchen, coffee, dish detergent and dish washer detergent, paper towels, bathroom toiletries, 4 beach towels and extra sheets blankets and towels in the closet. There was a firm king size bed with 4 king size pillows, with a wall of closet space in the main area, and sliding doors for privacy with a sofa couch/dining area with a balcony large enough for a patio table with 4 chairs and a lounge chair. The only thing that could have made this unit better was if it had 2 full bathrooms rather than one. The beach, which is raked every morning by a gentleman, has tiki huts which allow for shade, but most people reserve them by leaving their belongings by 7:30 am. Free beach chairs and umbrellas were also readily available from a gentleman from 7a until 6p daily and then these items are locked up on off hours. There are restrooms, a shower, a souvenir shop (with $1.25-1.50 beers), and kayak rentals on the beach. Daily activities are offered in the pool area, but we didn't participate. You can walk to many restaurants: Toppers, Red Piano, The Greenhouse, Fusion, Buccaneer Beach Bar, etc. Parking was fine at the resort except when we came home after 10p, then it became challenging.
For those that are interested, we listened to a timeshare talk which gave us $100 toward an excursion or we could have chose a $75 gift card which could be used anywhere.

We had a great stay and hope to be able to return here in future years.

Room Tip: Ocean view room is highly recommended

I just returned from a great vacation......We had not planned to go this year as we are saving to
stay two weeks next year. We couldn't stay away so we took a mini vacation. This resort is amazing. The location is perfect for us. We have been coming for many years and the sight of familiar faces makes me smile every time. The staff are exceptional and very friendly. We arrived at the hotel by 2 pm and our room was available for check in. All of the staff were great but there were a few stand outs. Germain Henry (front desk) and a co-worker (sorry, I forgot your name) resolved an issue very professionally. They are an asset to this resort. We have been to this island many times and visited many resorts to see if we wanted to change but it all comes down to staying at the place that truly feels like a home away from home. Where can you go that you can get a huge hug from someone that you hoped would still be there and they were (Rene)? Cannot wait till next year.......

Room Tip: Building 7 even side...

I just have the nicest things to say about the Flamingo Beach Resort. It's a great price for a great condo. The staff is exceptional & friendly. They will go out of their way to make sure that your stay in St. Maarten is a wonderful experience. Their is a bank and small convenience store across the street from the resort, so getting the things you need is a breeze. I also like the fact that the management is always renovating the condos. The upkeep is great. This is my second stay at the Flamingo, and I'll be booking again with them when I'm on the island next year. I just love it, and so easy on the budget. It's a great place for families, couples, or for a solo traveler. It's highly recommended!!
