Review of St. Maarten Zoo

there arent many types of animals, like you are used to in zoo's in Europe, but heh what do you expect, we're on a tiny island. There is a nice playgroup for kids, but it could use a little clean up. Entrance fee goes towards the animals, so it's a good cause. Definitely get some crackers at the entrance to feed the animals!

I love animals and St. Maarten's zoo is a wonderfully interactive experience. Be sure to buy a bag of animal crackers when you enter as virtually every animal will politely partake of your offerings. This is a small zoo, so don't go expecting a large variety of animals. But you seldom get the opportunity to get up close and personal with the residents, and here you definitely do! We (4 adults and a 10yr old and an 8yr old) spent two hours here, and we loved every minute of it. Worth every penny!!

We walked here from our cruise ship, to spend a very pleasant few hours. In fact it was quite a haul in hot weather and no direction signs on the road! everyone we met on route was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were made very welcome and bought a drink but there was no cafe open. We saw parrots, snakes, monkeys, iguanas etc etc,, and beautiful humming birds which were alighting on a feeder right outside reception! The animals seemed calm and content enough, plenty of space and shade, are obviously well loved and cared for. This place deserves more visitors, our trip from the cruise ship was cancelled because not enough people wanted to do it. It would be great if the trees had labels, and if the cafe was open! It's really good value for money, and the very helpful people advised us of a very cheap bus returning and eventually negotiated a very cheap taxi.

Beautiful birds and well laid out for a small zoo. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Great for the kids and any animal lovers. It's worth the trip and donation.

We had a great time at the zoo! It was raining on the day we went and it was a fun activity even in the rain. There was hardly anyone there when we went so we could spend a lot of time looking at the animals without feeling rushed by other people. We really liked the unique monkeys that they had! Some of them would throw sand and it was hilarious!

The zoo is perfect for all ages too!
