“Attempted ripoff!”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

We were extremely pleased with the service we received when we rented beach chairs and an umbrella from this establishment. But ordering food from the beach is another thing! It's all run by the same people and an attendant from Pirates in Paradise offered to take our lunch order. We happily placed 3 lunch orders and a bucket of beer/pop mixed. The food was decent, but then we received our bill and the experience turned sour.

The menu showed a bucket of beer/pop mixed to be $10. (Considering you can buy beer and pop for $1 each anywhere along the beach, this is already normal to high pricing). But the bill showed $12 for the bucket AND "SC of $5.00." We were told this was for service beachside. Despite the fact that our food took 40 minutes to come and it came without cutlery so one of us had to head deep into the restaurant to find someone who was willing to give us cutlery for 3 people! This is hardly "service" but you can't really do anything about that. Obviously we wouldn't tip anymore than this SC.

When we questioned the waiter about the $12 charge for the bucket he stated "the menu you had is old - they are now $12." I don't care where you're from (and this establishment is owned by an American) the published price on the menu I see is the price I agree to pay! The waiter would not adjust this price and even went to fetch another menu to show us the new price. But it still showed $10 on that menu too!! At this point we asked for a supervisor who completely agreed with us and told the waiter he should not have argued.

Check your bills folks! This restaurant sells burgers separate from fries, and leaves you feeling screwed over with it's sketchy practices.

“Good wings and a cold Red Stripe”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

After a long morning of hanging around jewelry with the wife I found the Pirates Paradise to be the perfect cure for the crowded stores. All of us found our lunch to be quick, tasty and served hot. After a week of great ship food the wings and cold beer really hit the spot for something a little simpler. The service was quick and friendly and the place was very clean. It's right on the beach and it fits the feel of a Caribbean beach bar & grill.

“Oasis off the Oasis of the Seas”
Reviewed 19 August 2013 via mobile

My wife and had just finished a Kayak and Snorkel excursion and our bus driver put us on the boardwalk. There were lots of establishments but this one had a very nice young lady welcoming us to come in. A sales routine maybe but the only one with a grand smile. Food was good, beer selection good and the view excellent. And yes An OSU FLAG .not my team. GO GATORS! Great area to go shopping and to book local excursions. We will be back.

“Good wings and people watching”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

The American owner is an Ohio St. alum so you can recognize the place by the OSU flag flying on the patio. Pirates is in a good location right along the Front Street boardwalk in Philipsburg. We have been twice and enjoyed the wings, onion rings, and Miller Lites (hard to find in the islands) both times. Calamari, not so much. Fun place to stop to cool off under the ceiling fans and watch the cruise ship traffic.
