“Moderately difficult hike to a few great views”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

We took the hike up Pic du Paradis from the Loterie Farm entrance at the base. Be sure to take a map and water. The trail is clearly marked when there is a turn or a choice, but the map gives you a sense of the distances. We heard monkeys in the tree-tops and saw two as we drove out. The round-tip hike from the base to the summit is two - three hours. There are a couple of view points along the way - beautiful views of the ocean and the steep hills of St. Martin. There are no information plaques about the sugar history of the area; frustrating. You see the old sucrerie wells and the ruins of a building, but with no information. Since the hike is not free, you'd think Loterie Farm could use some of the admission fees towards the hikers and not just the spa clients. We rested and then turned back at one part of the summit that is the gated entrance to a private house.

All in all, a good hike that gives you additional perspectives on St. Martin.

“amazing crepes”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

On our last day we had amazing peach crepes while enjoying a beautiful view of the shoreline. Service was good. I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu

“It was alright!”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

We decided to check out Pic Paradise and we were a little disappointed. We drove up the long, secluded, narrow road. The views are nice--visability was not great on the day that we were there, but it was beautiful.

“A Great Day Out”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

We were cruisng with Holland America and opted to do the "Downhill Hiking Excursion" in St. Maarten.

Our guide, Claudette, met us at the dock, and after an air-conditioned bus ride to Loterie Farm, we boarded a truck which carried us to the top of Paradise Peak.

The drive up was fun, on a steep narrow track that is used to service the communications equipment at the top of the hill. There were great views from the top and at a few other locations on the trek down the hill.

Our group of 16 set off with Claudette, to walk down the hill on well-defined trails, back to Loterie Farm. The trail is slippery in places, and even with the walking sticks provided, at least 4 of our group slipped and fell. The excursion description identified that a high level of fitness was required, and it was obvious that a number of people in our group believed that they were in better shape than they actually were.

Claudette kept us entertained with stories and information, and made the excursion "Excellent". She truly is the "Hiking Queen" of St. Maarten.

I would reccomend this excursion to those who are in good shape and have good balance.
