We took the hike up Pic du Paradis from the Loterie Farm entrance at the base. Be sure to take a map and water. The trail is clearly marked when there is a turn or a choice, but the map gives you a sense of the distances. We heard monkeys in the tree-tops and saw two as we drove out. The round-tip hike from the base to the summit is two - three hours. There are a couple of view points along the way - beautiful views of the ocean and the steep hills of St. Martin. There are no information plaques about the sugar history of the area; frustrating. You see the old sucrerie wells and the ruins of a building, but with no information. Since the hike is not free, you'd think Loterie Farm could use some of the admission fees towards the hikers and not just the spa clients. We rested and then turned back at one part of the summit that is the gated entrance to a private house.
All in all, a good hike that gives you additional perspectives on St. Martin.
