This was one of the highlights of our group trip to St Maarten. Larry & Jessica, the crew, were super nice and made sure we had a great experience. Having never sailed before, I was looking forward to the day trip more than anything and I wasn't disappointed.

After discussing the safety rules and how to move/walk on the sailboat (watch out for all those lines!), we motored off to a snorkel area and spent an hour or so there. The schedule was flexible, I'm sure if we stayed in the water, we would have been there longer. Once leaving, Larry & Jessica put up the sails and we headed to a different point on the island. The scenery was beautiful. There was also some great music on board and we had fun trying to dance in time with the waves.

Lunch and snacks were delicious and hit the spot after spending a lot of time in the water. There was also a variety of cold drinks available and excellent rum punch!

The day trip was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had and definitely recommend this trip to others.

Thank SPDee

What a wonderful day sail we had last week(2/19/08) on the Random Wind, Our day began with an excellent full breakfast at Ric's, a quick zodiac ride to the boat and We were off.
We motored out past Pelican Key and up went the sail!
Plentiful wind and a great crew
provided our children 5,7 their first real sailing experience.
And they loved it!
We anchored in the protected waters of Baie Rouge for a great lunch,swimming/snorkeling followed by some fine upwind tacks by the skipper,We then stopped just off Mullet Bay beach for some swimming, drinks and hor'derves.

final impressions:

My kids are still talking about all the fish they saw!
(they especially loved chumming the water around Dad w/bread)

We had a great family day that they will remember their whole life!

The New Owners since 07, Diane and Dean were gracious and welcoming.

The Crew was extremely accomodating
digging out vests, childrens dive masks and noodles for our kids.
and providing a nice hearty lunch.,cold soda and beer / rum punch.

If you want to do some "REAL SAILING", pass on the 65' power cats and book on the Random Wind.

Random Wind is a sailboat that takes 8-14 people on a tour of St Maarten's best snorkling stops. Based out of Simpson Bay the trip leaves at 9 and returns around 4:30. Our kids had a fantastic time and especially enjoyed jumping off the front of the boat. The other family had been on the trip many times before. Our one gripe was the lunch. Random Wind's advertising had said to expect a fantastic lunch. When it was served my wife and I initially thought it was the appetizer since it consisted of a salad and a piece of curry chicken flan. The curry was tasty but not popular with the kids on board. For the grownups after a heavy morning swimming one wanted more.
