My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and had an amazing time! The resort is beautiful, clean, safe, and close to everything you could want in St. Maarten. Aqua Mania is located at the resort. Several good restaurants are on the resort property. The pool and pool bar at the Villas is amazing!! The staff is helpful and welcoming. We miss it already and would love to go back!!

We just returned home from St. Maarten, and had a wonderful time! The Villas are beautiful, clean and there are so many different things to do on the grounds there. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We did a few excursions, but mostly stayed nearby and admired the scenery and of course took advantage of the beautiful beaches. We will definitely return to the Villas.

Room Tip: All rooms at the Villas have a view, however we requested a higher floor for the scenery.

Stayed at the Villas from Sept 14 -18 and was very impressed by the superb villa were allocated for our stay.

Lots of quality bars and restraunts closeby and security excellent.
Staff were very accomodating and we have nothing but fond memories of our stay at Simpson Bay Resort & Villas.

The only issue I have and it may well not be the resorts fault is I took asbout 20 postcards down to the reception for posting back to Australia but not one has yet arrived.
I am waiting a response to find out what the normal mail procedures are in St Maarten.

We will be going back for anothe stay at this great spot in the Caribbean.

Room Tip: Stay at the newly renovated villas

We were with friends and had a most wonderful experience at the Villas of Simpson Bay. We did the sunset cruise offered from the resort and had the best time. Crew did a fantastic job of keeping the rum punch glasses filled. Ate at the Stone restaurant and was fabalous. I had shrimp and was served sizzling on a stone. My husband went diving from the resort and it was also a great experience. Will go again soon.

My husband I just returned from our first trip to St. Martin and we loved staying at the Villas. The one bedroom unit we stayed in was huge, clean and lovely. The view, service and pool were great. Just make sure you stay at the Villas because that is the most pristine building in the resort.

Room Tip: Stay only at the Villas.

Stayed at the Villas at Simpson Bay Resort & Marina for a week from September 7-14, 2013.
We had the best time ever! The staff is incredible, friendly and very accomodating. Big thank you to the Manager Marcel, he was incredible in accomodating our room request. The rooms are really big and spacious, it could accomodate 6 people comfortably. There were only 3 of us, so we had lots of room. The countertops werr granite, and were well equipped.
My only call out would be that the televisions need to be upgraded. I had not seen a tube television in a very long time. Nice flat screen would really upgrade the villas.
I will go back to St Maarten any time any day.

This resort is essentially a small town with many buildings surrounding multiple on-site restaurants, a very well stocked small grocery store and even it's own casino. There is a lot of good information about the resort online so I won't get into that.
Our review is based on the utilization of a timeshare exchange so I have no information on the availability of other types of rooms. This resort is one of the nicest ones we've seen on the island. The staff was very helpful and security was great but I do want to share some information that's not readily available. Although serviced by the same staff, Simpson Bay Resort and Marina and The Villas at Simpson Bay are considered separate entities. Most of it is built on the side of a hill. Even though there are ramps and elevators in all buildings, for handicapped visitors, the "Villa" building on the waterfront is the only one that has it's own bar, gym and elevator access to the pool, beach and (beach level) restaurants. If you rent a car, the villa's parking lot (level 1 only) is accessible as well. The "Villa" resort may be an upgrade in price but in my opinion it's essential for handicapped visitors. Access to parking areas for all other buildings could be very difficult with steep grades. At this time (09/13), the resort is undergoing a major renovation so be careful if you're not in the Villa building. We talked to many people who were in un-renovated rooms that were very unhappy.
Tips: Currency can be tricky. If you didn't bring any Guilders to spend on the Dutch side, most places accept Euros and USD but be VERY careful. Some places simply exchange EU and USD 1 to 1. Other places exchange at the current rate (1 EU = $1.35 USD at the time of our stay). but the important thing to remember is if you pay in Euros, you will usually get your change in USD which could be a great loss depending on how much you spend. Some establishments treat credit cards the same way so always ask.
Right at the resort there are plenty of activities for all ages, sunset cruises, deep sea fishing, boat rentals, snorkeling and diving excursions. We especially enjoyed the bus tour around the entire island ($15 pp as of our visit 09/13) just to get our bearings and plan the rest of the week. If you don't want to rent a car or constantly deal with taxis, you can mingle with the locals using the reliable and very affordable bus system ($1.50 US to or from Phillipsburg for instance) but the bus stop is a short walk from the Villa building. Another great value is the Santina BYO cruise which also takes you all the way around the island (conditions permitting so ask first). They stop at various areas, islands and private beaches for snorkeling and swimming and also stop at a small French beach town where you can eat at a local restaurant if you chose not to bring your lunch. The $60 pp price (09/13) also included all the Rum, beer, sodas or punch, you want.
I hope I haven't scared anybody away but finally I must mention we have never been to a friendlier place in the world and will definitely be coming back... Wherever you go in St. Maarten, don't forget to bring your smile

Room Tip: The "Villas at Simpson Bay Resort and Marina" is the large building on the waterfront. All...
