When Byblos just opened its doors, there was a wonderful write up in the Daily Herald, which peeked my interest. So we went and discovered that the article was spot on. First impression, the location is set back from the road so it can catch you by surprise, although it is surrounded by well established businesses so not isolated. Setting is intimate with décor capturing the essence of the Mediterranean with hookahs scattered throughout. The staff give a warm welcome and offer seating indoors or out. One might expect a limited menu given the size of the restaurant, but we were pleasantly surprised with a variety of selections. We couldn't decide and ordered a handful of items to share for two, which honestly I think works best. Highly recommend the homemade garlic sauce and hot sauce to accompany the dishes. And most definitely recommend the baklava to round things off. After our first successful dining experience we have returned and are now loyal customers. This is the type of place where the owner and staff genuinely go out of their way to ensure you are satisfied with your dining experience and the chef/owner finds great pride in serving fresh ingredients prepared daily. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. This is the type of place you find and keep. An added bonus is live entertainment, live music on many nights and belly dancing on other nights. The more I come to this place, I find more reasons to love it. Highly recommend, especially with a group of friends. Great place to get a bottle of wine, share a few platters, and have a leisurely meal and prices are very reasonable. Counting down the days to baklava!

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel that we checked into. Keep in mind the guy knew we were a group of 20. There were 10 of us that went and could tell upon arriving they were a very small restaurant. Drinks came very quickly, but when we asked for water we were automatically given bottle without asking if we just wanted tap. As our order was being taken we saw the guy who checked us in at the hotel walk in to the kitchen and we joked hoping that his recommendation wasn't just because he worked here. As we were waiting for our food the belly dancer came out. She was fairly good. A little too close for some of our comfort, but entertaining. Our group was separated into a table of 6 and a table of 4. Of the 6 at my table one ordered an appetizer and another ordered a salad. The appetizer came out, but we never saw the salad. We were still waiting for our food when the belly dancer came out a second time. This time she came out with fire and shortly after set off the fire alarm. The fire alarm was directly above us and was not attended to quickly so we got to listen to that go off TWO different times, as she went outside then came back in. By this time it had to have been over an hour that we have been waiting on our food. Finally at about the hour and a half mark the table of 4 got their food. Well 3 of them did and about 5-10 min later the 4th got their food. They were even told to start eating cause it was gonna be a little bit for the 4th to get their food and he didn't want the first 3 to get cold. By this time we were being told that because the fire alarm went off that the fire department came out and that was what took them so long for the food, but they assured us our food would not be far behind our other tables. At this time we finally asked for the salad and were told she did not specify that she wanted the salad first even though she ordered the salad and a meal. She got her salad, but the rest of us still had nothing. Finally at just under 2 hours of waiting and our other table being completely done we were tired of waiting and didn't even want our food. I went up to try to get it so we could pay for the few drinks we had had, the one appetizer, and the one salad and could just leave without our food. This of course took forever and she wanted us to pay for the $2 bottle of waters even after waiting for 2 hours for food. She only got me my check and then the guy from our hotel ran out claiming that all the food was ready and would we please still take it. He did say it would be at a 50% discount. 5 of the 6 entrees then came out. The salads that were supposed to come with the kebobs was not the same salad that was said on the menu or the salad that the other table had with their kabobs. The pita bread was also not what was described on the menu. AND our 6th entree did NOT come out with the rest of ours. The food was mediocre at best and you could tell they just threw it all on there to try to get us to keep our food and not leave. The last entree finally came out. I had asked for all of our checks when they first set down our food and they came maybe 20-30 min later. It was not the servers fault for the food (that we know of), but by the time our food came (2 hrs later) all of our drinks were gone and not one person was asked if they would like anything else. We just kept being told that the reason our food took so long was the firemen that came and responded to the belly dancer that set it off probably an hour after we got there. Maybe part of the reason for our experience was our large group, but then we shouldn't have been recommended the place knowing we were a large group!! I would NOT recommend this place, but go at your own risk.

We were in SXM for a week vacation and rarely go back to a restaurant When we travel. But the food we had, LamB Shwarma & lamb kabob and shared a Tabbouleh salad, were all excellent. Our 2nd visit the falafel was a little dry but tasty and the various small plates were very good. They had a fair number of items suitable for vegans
We only found The restaurant by accident since it is tucked back off the Main Street and there wasn't great signage. The interior atmosphere was very MidEastern complete with hookahs as center pieces at each table. They had a piano man and a belly dancer on weekends. All in all we enjoyed it and would recommend it to others

The decoration and vibe is consistent with a mediterranean restaurant. most people in our party enjoyed the food. the menu should be reorganized bc it makes ordering too confusing and takes away from the pleasurable dining experience. the tabbouleh, meat pies and baklava were very good. the fish dish was dramatically salty, so our vegetarian friend skipped dinner entirely. The waiter must've been new because he had trouble explaining the menu and taking our simple orders. I would give this place another try bc I think it has potential.
