Small hotel (only four rooms, although more are being added) on a quiet part of Simpson Bay. For us it was the ideal middle ground between one of the large hotels that litter the island, and an AirBnB-style self catering vacation home.

You are right next to the airport runway but since there are no flights at night this will not bother you, and will even make for some spectacular plane spotting. The beach itself is quiet, with only some day guests showing up. The only downside is that with stronger winds it does collect quite a lot of seaweed.

The room itself was spacious with a modern decor, all amenities (large fridge) The bathroom could be a bit bigger. Special compliments to the cleaning lady who keeps everything spotless.
The included breakfast had enough choice and was very good in quality. We also had lunch a couple of times and this was even better. The bbq ribs are amazing. The fact that there are only a few rooms means that the staff knows you which makes for a very homely experience.

My wife and I stayed at El Zafiro and the experience was exceptional. The room was nice and clean. We had maid service daily - they did a great job. Restaurant on-site was great including the complimentary breakfast. The beach was gorgeous and peaceful. The on-site owners were very accommodating and helpful. Everyone at the location was committed to making our experience a great one. We would certainly book again at this location in the future.

Four of us were staying in a condo down closer to Simpson Bay town. We walked down the beach to Zafiro. It is approximately a 30 minute walk on beach and so worth it! The drinks were excellent and service was incredible. We had shrimp kabobs, ribs and chicken and all of the meals were excellent. The atmosphere is quiet but very enjoyable. View of the bay is awesome!

Always a great breeze, good food, friendly servers. Plenty of space between chairs. Still close enough to walk to casinos and Maho.

Where do I begin??? This place is a little slice of heaven. Nicole and Ed are the most gracious of hosts along with their team. Service is in every way perfect. Ed picked us up from the airport and returned us when our vacation ended. We were offered a rental car, but decided not to get one. It was nice to know they were available through one of their contacts if needed. We were walking distance to Maho Beach and the airport runway was right behind us. Yes we could hear the airplanes, but it didn't bother us, especially after the first day, you get used to them and it was really neat seeing them landing and taking off. The beach was long and beautiful! It was never crowded and at times it felt as if we were the only ones there. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at least once while at the hotel. The food was delicious. Being a vegetarian, I always worry about menus, but there was always something for me to eat. The only suggestion would be a non-pork breakfast meat item. The drinks were well mixed and not watered down at all. I will definitely choose El Zafiro the next time we visit St. Martin.
