We always try new islands and new places when we visit islands - but we broke our tradition and returned to St Martin and the GCBC for the 2nd time (last time was 3 years ago). We stayed in the 'Tamarind' wing - which we encourage others to do to - close to everything, great views. The staff is very helpful (made phone calls for us for reservations, find open / close times and more), the grounds are very clean, and the rooms are very nice and well taken care of. Since we last visited they have deployed wifi throughout the buildings (you used to have to go to the lobby) - which is a great add. The rooms have sliding glass doors and screens and if you go out on your balcony you can actually close the balcony off from view and extend your room. We asked for a blender, help with our bags, an extra hour to check out and more - none were even a small issue. Minor comment - I wish they also provided hair conditioner (vs a shampoo / conditioner) - I know it's a nit but I didn't think ahead to bring separate hair conditioner. Another minor - there is a $5 a day charge to use the fitness center - that bugs me a little but it's a nice small fitness center. Overall the price of our stay was exceptional (less than $200 a night including taxes - off season by a couple weeks) - so I cannot complain much about the $5 (they could raise everyone's rate $5 a day and get the same volume and let the fitness center be free). We both slept very well each night in a comfortable bed!

The one beach does not have a lot of room on it because of the tides - but the other beach has plenty of room. The beach falls off somewhat quickly (which happens a lot in St Martin) into an above your head depth. There are starfish to be found - but the beach generally is just a relaxing place to be. The water activity team takes care of the beach too - from 8am to 5pm the beach loungers / mats / tables / umbrellas are out and ready to go - need something, raise the flag - no problems.

We reviewed the Sunset Cafe restaurant spearately - but it is worth the trip to go to if you aren't staying at the GCBC. Sandra and Philippe at the Sunset Cafe are great! We had the special priced lobster one night - yum. The chocolate lava cake (not what it's called but you'll get the idea when you see the menu) is wildly tasty. Someone earlier commented that the breakfast is just coffee (realllly good coffee that is), OJ, and breads - but that is a typical French breakfast (you get a pain du chocolate, a piece of baguette, and a croissant for each person) and it comes with the room price. You don;t want a typical French breakfast, get something off the menu - it's pretty simple.

The small store onsite is very nice and the person who runs it helped us with directions to some local places we wanted to go to - just great.

For water activities, the water activity team is very helpful - we took and highly recommend the Scoobi Doo catamaran day trip to St Barth's. The catamaran picks you up and drops you back at the GCBC beach and the crew was great.

So I read through the reviews recently posted and have to make a 'correction' - one does not drive through ghettos to get to the GCBC (to me, a totally inappropriate characterization) - not all parts of every island in the Caribbean are like American suburbs; the neighborhood around GCBC is so safe that people walk the 10 minutes form the hotel to town for meals every day and night - the people are very friendly. This is the French side - smaller individually owned stores, no chain burger joints, slightly higher prices, smaller streets - but ghetto - come on now.

Room Tip: Ask for the Tamarind section - top floor (3rd floor, no elevators).

For the first time since visiting a variety of islands in the Caribbean, my mother and I returned to the same island. Part of the reason we returned to St Martin was the accomodations at Grand Case Beach Club. We stay in a two bedroom, 2 1/2 bath townhouse that is oceanfront.so I have no idea how the individual rooms are. This year, all televisions were replaced with flat screens, and there were tvs in the bedrooms, which I don't remember from last year. Also, it seemed that the beds were new, as were some cushions and pillows on the couch and furniture. Plus, the outdoor lounges had new cushions, nice and firm, and the outdoor public furniture was also new. I just wish there was wireless internet in the rooms instead of just near the reception area. You just can't beat the wonderful location of GCBC, because the beach there, though tiny, has wonderfully clear and calm water. You can walk into Grand Case for the best food on the island. The hotel staff is generally very good, friendly and helpful. This year we were disappointed in the Sunset Cafe, because they don't allow smoking anymore (last year there were a few tables in the back that were smoking, now you can smoke outside of the gift shop but it is not the same) and the waitstaff seemed harried and not as attentive during dinner. We will be returning next year, for sure. More about our trip in the forum area.

The place is gorgeous with breath taking views! The facility is uncrowded, spacious, relaxing, has beautiful grounds, a pleasant beach with clear blue water and within walking distance of an interesting town with great food. If I wanted to complain, I could say that the continental breakfast was quite limited (3 versions of bread, juice and a cup of coffee) or that a few tiles were missing in the bathroom and there are a few places that need paint, but all in all we were extremely happy and would go back there in a minute without hesitation.

Room Tip: The lofts on the 3rd floor are the way to go.

My wife and I returned to GCBC with another couple last week. We had been there 2 years ago for our honeymoon, they were there last year for their anniversary. Needless to say we really enjoy the hotel and Grand Case. Grounds are well kept, rooms are serviced daily. Our 2 bedroom unit was very nice with updated kitchenette and each bedroom had en suite bath. Great showers with plenty of hot water.Great ocean views from first floor patio and from Master bedroom balcony. Two beaches, one with plentiful lounges and umbrellas if you want them. The Sunset Cafe is a beautiful spot and good food. Staff is friendly and accommodating. But the best is the restaurants in town. Just wonderful food a short walk from the hotel. L'Auberge Guarmande and La Villa were our top 2. All and all a great spot for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful place with outrageous food.

The Grand Case Beach Club has never disappointed us. The staff are always attentive and they really step up to the plate when you are in need of something. The grounds are kept in immaculate condition and over the years we have been witness to the upgrading in the rooms and facilities. I would always choose GCBC over any resort on the island and will definitely refer my friends and family to this exceptional resort.

Room Tip: Any room at this resort is exceptional

I spent 4 nights at the Grand Case beach club with my boyfriend. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable- it had well working air conditioning. The 2 beaches are simply paradise, and offer free use of kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, floats, snorkeling equipment, etc. If you wish to take a day trip to the nearby islands of Anguilla or St. Barths boats depart directly from the GCBC dock. The Sunset Cafe serves delicious food and has a charming staff, as well as unbeatable views of the beach and turquoise ocean. I'd definitely return to the GCBC to stay again!

Room Tip: Paying up for an ocean view is well worth it.

My son and I just returned from a scuba vacation in Grand Case and we stayed at the Beach Club for 5 nites. The first two were in a single bedroom with kitchenette which was more than adequate, however the last three were in a one bedroom with loft and balcony overlooking the ocean. Room, view, and sounds of the ocean were just fantastic. Now we are spoiled and I'm afraid we're spoiled. Beach is a little small but was never crowed. Hotel abour a 5 minute walk from town and many good restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to St Martin.

Room Tip: Book ocean view room definitely. Rates a little high during high season but reasonable afterwards.
