Re-done rooms are a nice upgrade. Still geat food at the Sunset Cafe. Lots of turnover in Grand Case restaurants. Less beach than last time. That seems to be a problem all over the island. Stayed Dec. 3-10 lousy weather (windy & rain). It seems December is a high winds month.

Grand Case Beach Club understands service yet won't crowd you. Ask and you most likely will receive. It's right on the ocean with two very swimmable beaches divided by a cafe that extends out over the water. The cafe alone is reason enough to visit. The Sunset Cafe offers fresh lobster, rack of lamb, mussels avec les frites, and many other specials. They also creatively offer a cocktail of the week. Don't miss out on their Happy Hour Tuesday.
The Beach Club also has its own watersports outlook for scuba, snorkeling and booking tours. The rooms continue to be updated and renewed……we just completed our fourth stay in as many years and the staff appears to know us well. Everything we could possible need or require, they have thought of, including 24-7 security, even along the walk towards town. We feel very secure here and can really get into "Island Mode" quickly, thanks to this group who really knows how to make their guests feel welcome! Big thanks go to Christine, Roslyn, Chantale, Laurent, Sabrina, Phillipe, Lynn, Steve……..and many others.

Room Tip: Rooms in the taller units to the south of the Sunset Cafe have the direct views of the sunsets.

First, I want to say anyone who comes across this review, "If you don't enjoy yourself at St Martin and GCBC, believe me, it's not St Martin or GCBC....you have issues."

Prior to arriving to St Martin we had a bit of reluctance because of all the stories we read on crime, robberys, lack of police, muggings, stray dogs, etc, etc. We actually cancelled our trip then called back w/in an hour and asked if we could keep our hotel reservation at GCBC and were so happy we did. Here is the skinny on safety in and around GCBC. There are security personnel on the street outside GCBC and w/in the 100 yards into the little town of Grand Case. Then, we saw a large presence of French police walking the streets (over 6 police together and in small teams). GCBC is so close to town and there are so many people walking back and forth it is extremely safe.

As for GCBC, we were overwhelmed w/ the service, hospitality, things to do and the restaurant on location. The team that manages the water sports/rental equipment were beyond awesome! They answered every question and were always willing to do whatever it took to help us have a great time. There were many events planned and the folks that we spoke w/ who went on the trips were thrilled w/ the snorkeling, diving and other events.

The front desk personnel, rental car team, housekeeping staff and grounds keepers...all were so upbeat and hospitable that we felt welcome from the start.

The restaurant staff at the Sunset Cafe were all first class. Tony and Sandra were our favorite as they were so professional, but I must say I enjoyed speaking w/ them all and they all had amazing stories. We ate breakfast there everyday and enjoyed every meal. We also had many lunches and dinners there. The first dinner we had was grilled lobster (it was alive and they showed it to us prior to dinner:) and it was delicious. The chef is an awesome cook! I love to cook and I always say I only like going to restaurants that have better food than I can cook and the chef at Sunset Cafe delivered.

When we return to St Martin we will definitely go back to GCBC. I've travelled the world (in the Army for 28 years) and I know good and bad service. GCBC is definitely at the top of the list for their price point and the total package they deliver. Go and enjoy!

I have stayed at this hotel several times; the last time was about 25 years ago. Loved it then, and love it now. Property is well-maintained. Room was perfect - duplex 2 bedroom was clean with two balconies (my wife and I went with another couple), two bathrooms and a kitchen. On-site restaurant is well run and serves good fresh food and drink. Watersports on-site. Oh yeah - beautiful small quiet beaches too!!!! All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Grand Case, which is home to a number of excellent restaurants.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

On our second trip to the island of St. Martin, we wanted to stay by Grand Case for all the restaurants they have to offer. We arrived and we were immediately upgraded to an oceanview villa :) Our room had parking right by the door and ocean breeze on the other. The views were absolutely amazing! Going to bed and waking up listening to the waves coming to shore. The bottle of Merlot for our welcome gift doesn't hurt either. Patio on the first floor and second floor are a huge plus.
Only downfalls we saw were that you couldn't lock your door from the ocean side, but had to walk around. Also the spiral staircase made it hard to walk up and down with anything in your hands.
Overall had an awesome time at the resort and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves food (close to Grand Case restaurants) and wants an easy going atmosphere (beach, swimming in calm ocean and ocean breezes).

Room Tip: Upgrade to a villa .. definitely worth the ocean view rooms

This was our fourth year at the resort. We considered mixing things up and perhaps renting a villa but decided to go back to what we know is consistently good service, great views and accomodations that are very up to date. The resort is well maintained and the staff could not be more accomodating from the front desk staff to the staff at the Sunset Cafe. After a very hectic year, it is nice to come back to something familiar. My only recommendation is to have management consider giving returning visitors a choice of the room location. There are many different ocean view options, but some we prefer more than others. In the past two years, unfortunately management had not been able to accomodate our request.

Room Tip: This is not a large resort so there really are no "bad" rooms. Even the gardenview rooms...

This was our 15th time back to the Grand case Beach Club. It is a home away from home and offers you everything you need for a romantic getaway. Beautiful ocean views, sunsets, sun, shade, good food, great staff, wifi, cable flat screen TVs. Decided next time not to even rent a car. Very safe and gated, as well, with on site visible security.
