Nicely appointed "apartments". Our 3rd time here over the past 5 years, four "moms" on a restorative "treat". We hardly ever left the resort...and when we did, it was only a short walk into "town" for gourmet meals and nightlife. Rooms were very tidy, and the staff very welcoming and helpful. Small but clean beach, service with drinks/food when and if you want it. No pressure. The view is spectacular, and the restaurant is commendable, with reasonable prices.

Second time at this resort and we will go again. Nicely appointed updated units, great staff, great restaurant on premises with beautiful view of water. Pretty little mellow beach, protected bay, great for families yet still romantic for couples. Get a room with ocean view. Great restaurants a short walk in to town.

Room Tip: Upper level ocean view

We have stayed at the GCBC 4x over the last few years. We live the property and heartily recommend it. I feel compelled to jump in and counter the reviewer who complained that the property is remote. While we always rent a car it is by no means a requirement. There are so many excellent restaurants that are a short walk from the property that visitors should not hesitate to book here because they are concerned about being stuck.

This hotel is excellent. It is right on the beach, a private beach that only hotel guests seem to use. The hotel provides non-motorized water sports equipment for free (kayaks, etc). There are so many places to relax -- lots of comfortable chairs throughout the property as well as hammocks. This is what you are looking for when you think of a Caribbean vacation.

It is about a 10 minute, pleasant walk to Grand Case. You don't need to rent a car to go to Grand Case. We rented a car, but preferred to walk to Grand Case. There are a lot of restaurants in Grand Case from which to choose, but not very much shopping.

The restaurant at the hotel, the Sunset Café, has a wonderful view of the ocean and Anguilla. However, it is overpriced. Continental breakfast is served here and it is included in your stay. Continental breakfast is just a croissant and a baguette. Not bad -- but perhaps not what some might have in mind. With that said, you can't beat the view and the service here is excellent.

Overall, this is a great place to stay in Grand Case. It is remote, but within walking distance of Grand Case. I can't think of a better place to stay in Grand Case.

This is a pretty hotel and one of the few beachfront choices in Grand Case. The hotel is a short walk (down a rather unnervingly narrow and traffic-choked street, which young families might want to consider, but which didn't bother us at all) from the restaurants of Grand Case. We traveled with our family there for a surprise Caribbean Christmas, and the experience was mostly good, but there were some factors that kept it from being a 5-star experience for all of us. I will list them very specifically, as I think they are important for both the hotel and potential travelers to consider. None of them, however, would keep us from giving the hotel another try.

Accommodation: We booked a 2-bedroom unit with an ocean view, and confirmed our reservation just before we left. When we arrived, we were told the unit was overbooked, and that we would have to make due with two individual rooms with King beds. Ugh! We made our reservations months ago and went out of our way to make sure our daughters didn't have to share a bed because we know they HATE to, and we were told we had no other choice but to deal with it for a night, and then manage a move of our things the next day. Not a great start to our stay.

Room features and maintenance: The individual rooms were nice, just not what we ordered. At least they had showers and hot water. When we finally got to the two room unit -- having had to cut our sight-seeing short to move -- we were on an end unit, next to the noise from the Sunset Cafe -- not optimal. The bathrooms had no showers, and the entire unit had a hot water heater of about 10 gallons, no where near enough to fill either bath (hey, I know it's a first world problem, but it's relevant when traveling with 2 American teenagers). Other problems with the unit included: one burner on the stove that didn't work; a clogged sink in the upstairs bathroom that was never fixed; and a broken (and by that I mean the entire panel with the door lock was separated from the glass) to the upstairs deck.

Room service: This was really strange, and I'm not sure if it was a cultural thing. If we walked into the room for any reason while housekeeping was there, the woman left and didn't come back until the end of the day. This happened even when my daughters just wanted to drop off some laundry they had done. She then came back at about 430, when we were ready to clean up for dinner, and quickly straightened up. Sheets were always sandy -- they weren't changed, just brushed off. Dishwashing liquid and shampoos had water added to them, which is the kind of thing you might do at home, but not what you'd expect at an upscale resort.

Beach and staff: It is really nice to have a beach at the property, and the beach staff was super attentive, bringing drinks with good cheer and enthusiasm. Really, they couldn't have been nicer. It's only fair to mention, however, that the pool is tinier than any I have ever seen at a resort -- more like a plunge pool for cooling off. You could swim across it in one stroke.

Breakfast: A typical Continental breakfast, plain baguettes and croissants (chocolate croissants some days) with butter and jam is included. Enough, but not anything like a hearty breakfast -- to add eggs to that breakfast was 11 Euros. No problem, though, because the staff at the Sunset Cafe happily packs up the breakfast, coffee and juice to go, and we could add whatever we wanted in our suite, which included a kitchen.

From what I saw, I honestly don't think there's a better place to stay in Grand Case, especially if you're looking for family accommodations with a beach. But don't go there looking for a top-of-the-line, 5-star resort experience -- for that, head over to Anguilla and spend your money at Cap Juluca. But considering the price of the place, there are some improvements that really need to be made.

Room Tip: Avoid 708 if you are a light sleeper if at all possible -- the noise from the staff getting breakfas...

Thank you for your frank review on GCBC. We are a simple place, and we aim to be a comfortable and friendly place..a strong and proud 3 star property without pretentions or allusion. That so many of our guests review us with raves simply means that quite often we are very much on target.
Unfortunately, sometimes we are not. I am embarrassed at the scope of the missed aspects of your stay, and I have to take the heat for the expectations not met. Your observations were valid, and be assured that we are taking corrective measures as you are reading this. I thank you for your visit, and ask that if and when you do return, let us know how we have improved. We will.

Ocean front. Pleasant, clean rooms with fully equipped kitchen.
Staff are extremely helpful and pleasant.
Restaurant service very good and menu is adequate.
There were lots of families here with younger children.
The main disadvantage is the fact that the location is far from major restaurants in Grand Case.
Definitely need a car here.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on our little resort, and for the most part, I entirely agree with you, we have newly renovated, fully equipped and clean accommodations, the Sunset Cafe is an excellent spot to dine, and our staffs are outgoing and friendly. Depending on the time of year, we appeal to families, especially during the winter school holidays, and at other times, we have a more adult crowd.
But remote? I am surprised in your comment regarding the restaurants in Grand Case being far away...as the majority are within 1/4 -1/2 mile away. Our location is highly spoken of by most of our guests as one of the main reasons they choose us and the walk to town is very straight forward. We have laid on a local taxi service that will shuttle our guests to and from the village for dinner at a reasonable price... for those who prefer not to walk. A great many of our guests choose to forego renting a car, as they enjoy the convenience of the nearby village, while others like to have the ease of mobility and do get cars..a matter of personal choice.
