“Beautiful, Kind of Penny Pinchers”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Grand Case Beach Club is a beautiful hotel, at the end of an odd but awesome stretch of beach on St Martin. It's not overly expensive, but not terribly cheap either. $180/night will get you a view of the parking lot, and a very, very basic bedroom with two twin beds strapped together to make a king.

The views - when you walk to them, or if you do have an ocean view - are spectacular. The boardwalk that wraps around the sunset rock is awesome... a bunch of secluded little areas with coupled up lounge chairs that make you forget you're near any other people, and just stretched out with your caipirinha gazing at the Caribbean. Hard to beat that.

But, as I said, the room was quite simple, and if you DON'T have an ocean view, it's not like the place is bad, per se. It's clean, well located in relationship to the town, has a great restaurant, and a friendly staff... but without that view, it's not worth the price. The place I stayed right ahead of then, smack in the middle of the best part of Orient Bay, replete with a stunning ocean view and incredibly well appointed detail in the room, was $60 less/night.

Also, I will note, that the gym is $5/day to use. Come on... really? You're already paying at least $200/night when you include taxes, and the gym isn't even complimentary? That's nuts. The wireless was horrific, and they were very intense about towel returns (the deposit - which you lose in full for even one beach towel - is $55/towel), and even the key cards had a penalty for not returning them. Finally, while I understand a continental breakfast is coffee, juice, and a pastry of two, it was literally just BREAD. Would be cool to include some yogurt or fruit, and not just 1 croissant, 1 chocolate croissant, and one baguette per customer.

Anyway, the harpings above are simple frustrations, which I believe to be beneath a hotel that claims to be of the caliber and security that this one does. This hotel is wonderful, and I would stay there again. It's absolutely beautiful and safe there, and you will enjoy your time immensely. Just remember to book an ocean view room, and don't expect any concessions for the money you've paid, aside from being able to use the beach chairs.

Room Tip: Ocean view.

Dieta3,

Thank you for your views on our little resort! We are, unlike most of the hotels on Orient Beach, directly on the the water, with no road between, so even our Garden rooms are within 50 meters for the beach. Of course, if you want to be nearer, the Ocean rooms are as close to the water as you can be and still be dry!
We are very proud of our beds, very large and top quality Treca bedding in king and double sizes, and what you may have assumed was two twins was infact the foundation, which is two pieces, but the king mattress is one...much like is normal for the US. The beds are firm, and we get a huge number of positive remarks about them, and have even arranged purchase and shipment to California of one for a guest!
Sorry that you did not notice the free kayaks, floats, snorkle equipment, introduction to waterskiing/wakeboarding, the weekly guest mixers, the internet kiosk, all of which are without charge. Our continental breakfast offering is simple and basic, but full menu options are available if you so desire. And beach towels, if returned are free...but if lost, are charged at $20. Sorry, but they do have a value, and by charging for them if lost has the most amazing effect...they do not get lost! We value you and all our guests (and our towels), thank you for your comments and your choice to stay with us, and we hope your will come back, like so many of our guests, year after year and enjoy the many and constant improvements that we regularly make. The fall, we will be going after the Garden rooms on a programed refuurbishing, which all of the other rooms have now benefitied from.

This is property has soooo many wonderful traits: location - secluded, awesome calm beach, gated, walking distance to Grand Case with all of its wonderful attractions and restaurants, wonderful restaurant on site with an absolutely awesome view of sunsets. Rooms are clean, large, bathrooms are spacious; showers are awesome. It is wonderful to have a full size refrigerator and large TV. I love this location. I just keep wondering when I can return!!!

My husband and I spent a week at the Grand Case Beach Club in Grand Case, SXM recently. The politeness with which we were greeted, the upgrade up our room, and the beautiful surroundings made our trip one to always remember.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the Caribbean. They even included a bottle of wine to say welcome. The wi-fi worked in all locations, the kitchen was equipped with all the comforts of home, and the beach access was such a nice walk.
We will definitely return.
You do not even need a car, all the gourmet restaurants in Grand Vase are within walking distance.
The check out was prompt and made us feel like a permanent guest.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the second room with the upstairs bedroom and downstairs living room. The two balco...

Me and my wife just returned from Grand Case, staying in orient bay for one night then over to grand case for 5. Very glad we chose to stay longer at the beach club, as it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the really nice beach, very quiet, excellent calm water that we floated in for hours. Sunset Café was great, room was very comfy (wanted an ocean view but all booked up, no big deal). We walked daily into town, great crepes for breakfast but had to walk far for an open place to get them. During the day the town was very quiet, but begins to get lively around 6 or so. We enjoyed the bars at nearby la shambala, calmos café was fun but really hot, and Zen it, all good choices for drinks at sunset. Perfect place for those who want to enjoy a great beach, great restaurant, some water sports, and excellent restaurants to choose from within walking distance.

This is my first review on any site like tripadvisor and I'm writing it because we had an extraordinary experience at the Grand Case Beach Club. The property was extremely well-kept and beautiful, with flowers and other plantings that attracted beautiful birds. The rooms were up-to-date, yet perfectly suited for the ambiance of a little resort on the beach--wooden floors that stood up to stray sand, for example. We had two second-floor beachfront rooms--one for my husband and me and one for our two teenagers--and we were met with spectacular views no matter when we opened our drapes. The beach was small, but never crowded and the hotel had its own water sports rentals (actually many didn't cost anything, so I guess they're not rentals). The food at the restaurant was yummy. And most importantly, the staff was so friendly and helpful--from the folks at the water sports counter, who made our reservations for activities, to the friendly waiters who brought us our croissants every morning to the gift shop manager who donated her first aid kit materials to save my husband's cut foot. We hope so much to be back to St. Martin and would never stay anywhere else. A local shop owner commented that GCBC is the best resort on the island and I certainly believe him.

Room Tip: I would spring for the ocean-front rooms. Beautiful!

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Grand Case Beach Club. We absolutely love this property, and we will definitely be returning. We have stayed at 4 other resorts on the island, and this place is by far the best. It's charming, non-pretentious, and is located on one of the best beaches. There are so many small touches that make this resort so great. The fresh flowers upon checking in, the attention to detail, the helpfulness of the staff, great restaurants nearby, all are great reasons to stay here. This place is charming and full of character. This is a far cry from the larger, time-share resorts elsewhere on the island.

My husband surprised me with a trip to St. Martin for my 40th birthday last week. We have never been to St. Martin and I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is made up of small buildings that overlook the stunning ocean. There is a small beach area (it is very small) but because it is in a little cove, the water is calmer and easy to swim in. We stayed in room 110 and it had been remodelled. Although there wasn't a bath, just a shower, there is a nice terrace to sit and look out onto the ocean. The room was very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is fabulous, within walking distance to all the great restaurants and boutiques in town. We always felt safe and never worried about crime in the area.

The water sports staff are also very helpful and we booked 2 tours from them.

The Sunset Beach Cafe that is right on the property is ok. Breakfast that was included is really just croissants and french bread. But there are many items to select from the menu.

Overall the hotel is great and I would go back! Great 40th birthday!

Room Tip: First floor rooms have patios with lawn chairs on the grass but the walking path is behind you so no...
