“A Great Vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

Check-In: Greeted by Jeanelle. Told room not ready despite fact that I sent email to Manager requesting that they try to prep room by 2 P.M. Room was actually not ready until 4:20 P.M. when it was supposed to be ready by 3 P.M. Jeannelle did not seem that apologetic.

Beach towel policy was explained-you can only get 2 beach towels per day. Otherwise you have to pay $2 for each additional. They won't provide fresh towels until you return dirty ones. An annoying policy, in my opinion.

Room: Loved our 1 bedroom with loft. However, bed types were misrepresented by hotel. I was told there would be 2 king beds when there was only 1 King downstairs and a Double (or Queen?) bed upstairs in loft. If we had been 2 couples sharing a room with the expectation of 2 kings, I would have been very angry. Room was spacious and cool (2 AC units that were whisper-quiet with remote control functions). Beds were firm but comfortable. 2 bathrooms with showers. Note that toilet paper and tissues that they provide are were VERY rough on the skin! May want to bring your own. Large balcony facing ocean.

Property: Lovely setting. Quiet and relaxing.

Grand Case: Grand Case is pretty run-down and feels like a slum in certain parts. Yet some of the best restaurants can be found in Grand Case. LOVED Auberge Gourmande (ate there 3/6 nights). Found Spiga, a popular Italian restaurant, to be very overrated. Calmos Cafe was great. All food on island is VERY expensive, so be prepared.

Gym: Worked out 2 x day on treadmill. Fitness room is in not in great condition. Tiles are separating, there is no stretching mat, it can be stifling hot despite air conditioner being on full blast, it's dark and dungeon-like. Remote control for TV does not change channels. Reported AC and remote control problem to front desk and they were never fixed. Also think that $5 daily surcharge for use of gym is ridiculous.

Food: Sunset Cafe food was just OK and pricey. Only had lunch there once. Breakfast that is included with room is pretty sparse and not satisfying. We made our own breakfast in room.

Grand Case Beach Club is a great place, but not perfect. I would definitely return despite some of the problems cited in this review.

This was our second visit to Grand Case Beach Club (GCBC). We booked two rooms. A garden one bedroom for us and a garden studio for the kids. In retrospect, we could have gotten by with just the one bedroom as the pull out couch would have been enough for them and our bedroom was on the second floor offering privacy and separation. The suite offered two baths and a full kitchen. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Even though this was a garden view, we still had three balconies and an ocean view. Outstanding.

We like the location. Easy five minute walk to town and the outstanding French cuisine in Grand Case. We stay in Grand Case for the food.

GCBC offers a free breakfast which consists of a bread basket (baguettes, croissant, chocolate croissant), coffee and juice. You can get anything else you could want; it's just extra. Lunch menu offered options and would be market price. Great views from the restaurant.
We like that the snorkeling, rafts, chairs and umbrellas are included. Great mini-snorkeling around the south side. Beaches were clean and beach side service available.

Service was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. Free bottle of wine on check-in, gift certs to the gift shop. Free WIFI, but it would time out and require logging in again. Not a big deal. Overall great value and would definitely stay here again.

We spent two weeks at the Grand Case Beach Club in April/May this year. We were really satisfied with the room, the staff, the Restaurant...everything was excellent! Grand Case Beach Club is in walking distance to all the Restaurants in Grand Case, the "Gourmet Capital". It's a great place to relax. They offer all amenities for a perfect Holiday: you can book boat trips, snorkeling trips, you can just relax on the beach. We really loved it there and decided to go back there next year. The booking is already made!

We had a beautifully appointed room with kitchen appliances, a wonderfully decorated bath, and an oceanfront view.

Lazy days were spent lying on the chaise lounge on our patio, ground floor, reading and discussing the antics of Oscar Wilde; staring out over the Atlantic, watching swimmers, boats and the iguana lounged on the brick railing in front of our unit. Other natural creatures frequented our favorite spot: lizards in the grass and scurrying about the tiny sidewalk from our unit to the major sidewalk which ran throughout the units while tiny ants busied themselves on the chaise lounges and tables, probably an inheritance from the trees above the chaise lounges.

The room's oceanfront view was not a walk straight to the beach, but one protected by the stone or rock railing, which means you can't walk out of your door onto warm sand and into turquoise water, but find the beach area.

It was a wonderful holiday, hazy sunsets and sunrises. Warm, friendly staff as well as other guests. The front desk closes, but that's part of the charm of St. Martin. There are charges for everything, even the key to the antiquated gym, which should have been included in the room rate. Continental breakfast was included at the Sunset café', which gave a nice view of the very small beach, which is not for privacy seekers. For privacy lounge in front of your room, but, remember no beach. I opted to take the bread basket, jams and coffee back to our room, where I supplemented the breakfast with cheeses and eggs from the Super Mache'. Above the café is a nice outdoor area for watching the sunset and for weddings and other functions.

The hotel is in easy walking distance of the main shops and wonderful restaurants of Grand Case!! It's enjoyable, relaxing and a great get away.

Room Tip: All are good.

We can't stop coming back to the Grand Case Beach Club. The warmth and charm and ease, not to mention stunning vistas, command our return. There is a friendliness that infects the guests making the resort a home away from home. If you want gorgeous sunsets right out your window, crystal clear water steps away, a clean well appointed room, and fabulous food at your doorstep at the sunset cafe and right down the road, plan to stay at Grand Case Beach Club. And the staff is wonderful too!

First time ever booking thru Costco Travel, can't say they steered us wrong for the price we paid. It was fabulous...The flights were great, the transfer to/from the airport & to/from beach club were great as well. We were welcomed at the front desk of the GCBC by Christine who was wonderful, friendly & most helpful. Our 2 bedroom with a living room, kitchen & dining area, overlooking the beach via our balcony was breathtaking. The resort was extremely well maintained & totally spotless. The entire staff was friendly at all times. We rented a car right at the front desk via Marcel who was also very helpful. LoLo & the staff at the Sunset Cafe welcomed us each morning for breakfast. Resort was walking distance to some delicious restaurants down town. A quiet family resort. Just wish there was some nightly entertainment. 6 days of pure relaxation - highly recommended to all.

The Grand Case is a hidden gem in St. Martin. The room was new and nicely decorated. The view from our balcony was absolutely gorgeous. It is a quiet resort, people of all different ages, if you are looking to party, I would not recommend this hotel. My boyfriend and I had a beautiful vacation and plan on returning.
