We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was wonderful!! First and foremost--the staff here is AMAZING--so helpful and they go above and beyond in order to help you with anything you may need! We loved our room, it almost felt like a little townhome--so awesome! The concierge also helped us to set up a trip to St. Barth's Island for the day--which is another beautiful island. St. Maarten was definitely a very interesting and of course beautiful place! My new hubby definitely booked the right hotel on this island :)

We stayed at Hotel L'Esplanade for our Honeymoon. What a great hotel, rooms were very nice and well kept. The views were amazing. So easy to get to resturants, shopping and attractions. I felt Hotel L'Esplanade was located in the perfect spot. The staff were amazing..especially Nat....she was so helpful from start to the end of our stay from recommending places to go to finding us a charger for our camera that we forgot to take.

We will definetly be returning to St. Martin and staying at Hotel L'Esplanade !!

We stayed at L'esplanade twice in March. 2 x 1 night stays before and after a cruise. We found it through Trip Advisor. The hotel has a huge huge plus and a couple of minus' for me. The rooms are stunning. The balconies and views are stunning. On the flip side it's a lovely pool but quite small and a bit too quiet for me. I also prefer to be on a beach. St Maartens a long way from Europe to get there and not have a hotel on the beach. Finally I missed the hotel not having a restaurant and in tandem with this the lack of a few hot things for breakfast (appreciate this is the French side and it serves continental breakfasts and that the rooms do have kitchens and cooking facilities).

I loved Grand Case. Within a 5/10 minute walk are lots of quaint shops and a host of beautiful restaurants.

Would I go back? I'd consider cost of rooms and probably say no as it's a lot to pay if it doesn't tick all your boxes. I question the hotel tag? More like self catering apartments with a reception area and a pool for all.

If you really want to go to this bay and want luxury then it's here or Grand Case Beach Club, (which looks worth a try, doesn't really have a beach but is next to the sea, and probably wouldn't guarantee beautiful balcony/room views or even a sea view).

Worth remembering that this was in the top 25 Caribbean Hotels in the latest travellers choice awards. I can think of at least 25 other hotels that more closely match my requirements and am no Caribbean Hotels expert however, it's a huge compliment to this place and the gorgeous apartments.

This hotel exceeded my expectations by a long shot. We had a suite and the room was incredible and romantic. It was clean and smelled amazing. The bath soaps/shampoos were of high quality which I always love. TV channels were great and lots of free movie channels. I loved that the welcome basket contained a baguette, nutella, and coffee. The staff were friendly and helped us book an amazing excursion of high quality to Anguilla. Overall it was a dream and would come back forever if I could!

We just spent 11 days at Hotel L'Esplanade, and we couldn't have been happier. Beautiful architecture, great rooms (most have just been refurbished, but even ours which had not been was great). Excellent location only 3-4 block walk from Restaurant Row, with its dozen or so excellent french restaurants. Great staff. Gorgeous pool. Gorgeous views of the bay and sunsets.
It is near the Grand Case airport which has a few noisy flights every morning about 8-9:00 and again in late afternoon, but not at other times; it wasn't a bother.
The hotel is not on the beach, but it's only a 5 minute walk.
The only caveat is that the hotel is built on a hillside, so going to and from the pool and the town involves 2 or 3 flights of steps, so if steps are a problem for you this would not be the optimal hotel.
Do rent a car. The hotel made the arrangements for us which worked out beautifully. The company picked us up at the airport and took us back when we departed, all at no charge.

Room Tip: Rooms at the north end may be a little quieter.

What more can I say that hasn't been said? Although we were only staying for 2 nights before heading to St Bart's, we now wish we had more time here! This hotel has it all. A great value, great location, clean rooms with great views and with huge confortable beds. They also offer free in room wifi and a complimentary bottle of Fiji water. Nice touch! But what really sets L'Esplanade apart is the service. They are so welcoming. From arranging our rental car before we arrived to arranging our ferry reservation to St Bart's, everyone is there to help. Add Alan and his great drinks at the pool bar in addition to an easy walk down to restaurant row for dinner, there's nothing more you can want from a hotel. We're definitely sold on L'Esplanade and we can't wait to be back!

....and i truly mean that. we have been traveling to st. martin for some time now...on our honeymoon we had the good fortune to discover lepetite hotel, then run by kristin and marc petrelluzzi. we couldn't have landed in a better spot. romantic, beautiful, peaceful, and magical are the words that come to mind in remembering our time there in 2000. for those who have not yet experienced grand case, it is a section of st. martin filled with the laid back vibe you want in a vacation, and the restaurants are excellent. over the years we have been fortunate to experience lepetite and hotel l'esplanade. this year's trip was no exception. we stayed at l'esplanade in a loft suite that had been newly updated with splashes of carribean color, while still subdued and laid back. we had two balconies; one off the first level and a second off the loft bedroom, which featured a vaulted ceiling and four poster bed which was a dream to sleep on...a bathroom to beat the band with an open concept using stone as the natural feel. really, i wish i had one on these showers in my home, simple but beautiful. though we are always on the move during our vacations, it was so relaxing to kick back by the pool, visit with alan, and eat local fare cooked by his mom...seriously second to none!! from house cleaning to the front desk, the message is always the same...welcoming, hospitable, friendly, and ready with suggestions for activities or the perfect dining experience, and we managed quite a few...la villa and the yacht club for fine dining (both excellent!)....local lolo's (esp. enoch's in marigot) among them. and then there are the beaches! there are so many...i will say this, part of the fun of st. martin is that the island is small enough to do some exploring to what suits your taste. every day is an adventure and we were treated to one of the best beaches yet on the dutch side.
and then there are the people that you meet, and for us the friendships that have lasted over a decade and counting...there are no other places we would stay on the island other than properties managed by kristin and marc petrelluzzi, they are warm and kind, they do it right, and know how to make you feel right at home.
