“Awesome boutique hotel with incredible views, amenities, and charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2013 via mobile

We just returned from a 1 week stay at this gorgeous hotel last week. We fell in love with this place and couldn't believe how wonderful it was. We booked the entry level room (deluxe studio) and were not disappointed with all that the hotel and the room had to offer.

The Room: Kristen showed us to our room and we were immediately taken by how modern, clean, and fresh our room was! We had a full kitchen that included 4 place settings of flatware, glassware (wine, champagne, short and tall glasses), pots, pans, a variety of utensils, and other key items such as beverage container, juicer, cutting board, and very nice knives in a butcher block. We had a 4 burner stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave oven. It was nice to have the option to stock our kitchen with food for breakfast and lunch if we wanted. We took full advantage of this!

The rest of the room was spacious and full of light. It had a king sized bed with an amazingly comfortable mattress. The bed sheets were clean and appealing. The room is highlighted with a wall of glass that overlooks the water from atop the hillside. The view was spectacular...not to mention the amazing sunsets at night. There was a kitchen table that can seat four immediately in front of the window and a fabulous patio with a table and chairs for two and two lounge chairs. We spent a tremendous amount of time on the patio as it was so inviting!

The bathroom was incredible with a fabulous open shower with pebbled walls, freshly tiled floor, and an amazing shower head. Each room has its own water heater so that you can better manage the amount of hot water available to you...very nice feature. There was no shortage of hot water! The bathroom had plenty of storage space and a nice counter top / sink area.

Proximity to the best dining: The hotel has plenty of parking and is located on top of a hill over looking Grand Case and the Carribean Sea. There is a safe and convenient foot path that heads down the hill into town, most of which appears to be located on hotel property. We saw several guards around at night so we felt very safe. At the end of the path, you can turn right and head towards the local beach, or turn left to head into Grand Case and the most amazing restaurants on the island. Restaurant row is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We enjoyed walking up and down the street each night to review the many different menus and dining options during our stay. This hotel is a dream for foodies! We enjoyed some of the best dining during our stay and found that our favorite places had chefs that were trained and worked in Paris or Lyon France.

Other things to note: The hotel is difficult to find if you rent a car at the airport and drive to the hotel. It was an adventure finding the hotel, but well worth the search! We had no problem after we cracked the code (i.e. the island has poor signage and it takes some getting use to learning your way around). I recommend taking a taxi to the hotel and working with Kristen to have a rental car made available to you at the hotel (pick up and drop off...less hassle). The pool and bar area look really nice. I regret that we didn't spend any time there as I heard that the bartender is amazing (Alan?) during high season. Each room's balconys appear to be relatively private. They are not all on the same level. You can hear other people's conversations but at least there is privacy of view. My only complaintl - the balcony smokers. The rooms are non-smoking so smoking is restricted to the balcony area. The island is very breezy so sometimes it will direct smoke from another person's balcony into your area. We had to go inside several times due to the smell (and restaurants allow smoking as well - so be warned if you are allergic to smoke).

Hotel L'Esplanade is a treasure. I put this at the top of my list of favorite hotels due to the beauty, views, ammenities, cleanliness, and the wonderful staff. We highly recommend this place and hope that you enjoy it as much as we did!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel L'Esplenade for our honeymoon this last September. We could not have chosen a better place to stay. Since we stayed there in the off season, we received a great rate with 1 free night. We practically had the hotel to ourselves! The staff was kind, helpful, friendly, and warm. The room was immaculate and even included a hammock on the patio! This is a great place to spend a honeymoon or vacation. Very private. Very beautiful. My wife and I miss it and plan to return again in the future!

No question. If you are staying on this side of the island, stay here. We spent 4 nights here after our sailing trip. We loved walking into town to the dinning capital of the Caribbean. Room was great. Staff was helpful.

This hotel is top notch...The rooms are beautiful, the views of the ocean and Antigua are fabulous. All sorts of little goodies waiting for you in the room upon your arrival, cookies, french baguette, coffee, etc. The staff are extremely nice and the rooms were spotless. My only regret is not staying here the whole 6 nights of my vacation and only spending 2. The other 4 were spent in Phillipsburg at Little Divi Bay which pales in comparison to Hotel L'Esplanade. It is a little bit pricier but the quiet serenity of it was wonderful and the people of Grand Case were so friendly. Lots of amazing places to eat and small quaint boutique shopping. If I ever go to St-Martin again I would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Wish we chose one of the bigger rooms that had a loft bedroom...looked really cool. Ours was a small...

We just returned from 8 lovely days at L'Esplanade. It is a very nice location overlooking the sea. The staff is accommodating and nice. There is a pool and a lovely little outdoor bar where we ate lunch our first day. It was a perfect meal of tuna and salad made right in front of us. Daily, we traveled to the nearby beaches as L'Esplanade does not have its own beach. This worked well for our family (our kids are 16 and 19) - our favorite beaches were Le Galion, Pinel Island (get the first boat out or you won't get a seat!) and Baie Rouge. The restaurants in Grand Case are splendid, and prior to arriving, the staff at L'Esplanade sent recommendations and made reservations for us (Le Pressoir, La Villa, Sol & Luna and Ti Bouchon - all great). The evenings we did not eat out, we cooked dinner ourselves in our kitchen (after buying ingredients at Bacchus and Simply - both markets that are 3 minutes by car. We stayed in the villa at L'Esplanade which is really wonderful, but not for families with small kids. It is really a spot for 3 couples or families with older kids as the villa is on different levels and there is a private pool that is not necessarily for little folks to play Marco Polo in. We would stay here again. It was private, clean, friendly and beautiful.

Room Tip: Again- the villa is great. The kitchen is beyond. The three bedrooms are completely private and s...

When we checked in for our 2 night stay we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to rm 16. The hotel clerk took us to our room and showed us around and afterwards we both hugged her. We had never been in a suite like that before. The balcony was private, had a sweeping view of Grand Case and a hammock. I loved the rich wood ceiling and the expansive shower. The poolside bar is not to be missed. Alan made us the best grilled lobster of our trip and provided us great company. It was hard for me to drag my husband away from the poolbar. The walk to Grand Case was short and had several security guards along the way. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Crousti Bread on the small street near Bistrot Caraibes is a great place to get pastries and espress...

My loved one and I spent one week here and we fell in love with this hotel and the Island. This hotel cannot be beat! It is exceptionally clean, has spacious rooms with outstanding views, an intimate feel, a great bar and bartender, offers a variety of services and is located within a 5 minute walk of the finest restaurants on the Island. You can even have a romantic poolside dinner cooked and served by Alan, who is an excellent creole chef as well as a great bartender. His drinks pack pure dynamite and he relishes in seeing the happy faces of guests as the libations loosen them up and contribute to the barside banter. Ask him to make you a new drink he developed while we were there called the "Sacre Bleu", he'll know who sent you. In short you cannot go wrong at this hotel, they have everything under control and will assist you in any way possible with just about anything you need. However if you are flying to St. Martin do yourself a great big favor and DON'T FLY SPIRIT AIR, THEY ARE AN ABYSMAL CARRIER WHO WILL CHEAT YOU AND NICKEL AND DIME YOU UNTIL YOU WIND UP PAYING MORE THAN YOU WOULD ON A MORE LEGITIMATE CARRIER.
