Just got back from spending a week at The Towers at Mullet Bay with two other friends. We all agreed on the following:
Pros: The room was very nice. Spacious and fully equipped.
Cons: The front desk and customer service people were indifferent, at best. We arrived and were not greeted all that warmly. However, that wasn't the real issue. Overall they seemed understaffed and not very concerned with guest needs.
Beach Towels: Hotel said we had to go to pool for beach towels. We walked over (it's all around the building) and then no one would be there to give you towels. We walked all the way back (in hot sun) and the front desk said they would send someone down but that we would have to go back and pick up the towels. We had just been there. Other hotels would apologize and have someone bring up the towels due to the time loss and inconvenience for the guests. When we were down there for towels the first time, we asked if they could call front desk to send someone down to open up the pool towel building. They said phone lines were cut. Just great! The next day we asked if they were open when we came back from beach. The front desk said 'yes', so we walked our dirty towels down, only to find no one was there once again!
Happy Hour: NOT. They claim to have a happy hour every day by the pool. Not only did they not have happy hour, but the bar was closed during the happy hour hours. When we asked at the front desk, they just shrugged and said that there weren't enough guests to warrant having one. Totally amazing!
Beach Chairs: They claim free chairs at the beach...which is a bit of a stroll across a hot and burned out golf course. The 'free' chairs are not the comfortable ones that are provided along beach, but stacked hard chairs and no one from hotel is there to put them out for you. Also, no beach umbrellas. So we wound up renting chairs and umbrellas (2 chairs and 1 umbrella for $15 / day) from one of the vendors there. (Definitely eat at Rosie's Shack! Great grilled food and drinks at reasonable prices --- and great service -- ask for Joan on Mullet Beach).
Wi-Fi is $60 per week. Everywhere else that we went, WiFi was free! Beach, restaurants, hotels we checked out in Phillipsburg. They nickel and dime you here.
Maid service: They only change out your towels on daily basis. They don't make the beds. They come in once, mid-week, and change the sheets and make bed.
You definitely need a car to stay here. It's not walking distance to anything.
