“Customer Service NEEDS IMPROVEMENT”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Just got back from spending a week at The Towers at Mullet Bay with two other friends. We all agreed on the following:
Pros: The room was very nice. Spacious and fully equipped.

Cons: The front desk and customer service people were indifferent, at best. We arrived and were not greeted all that warmly. However, that wasn't the real issue. Overall they seemed understaffed and not very concerned with guest needs.
Beach Towels: Hotel said we had to go to pool for beach towels. We walked over (it's all around the building) and then no one would be there to give you towels. We walked all the way back (in hot sun) and the front desk said they would send someone down but that we would have to go back and pick up the towels. We had just been there. Other hotels would apologize and have someone bring up the towels due to the time loss and inconvenience for the guests. When we were down there for towels the first time, we asked if they could call front desk to send someone down to open up the pool towel building. They said phone lines were cut. Just great! The next day we asked if they were open when we came back from beach. The front desk said 'yes', so we walked our dirty towels down, only to find no one was there once again!

Happy Hour: NOT. They claim to have a happy hour every day by the pool. Not only did they not have happy hour, but the bar was closed during the happy hour hours. When we asked at the front desk, they just shrugged and said that there weren't enough guests to warrant having one. Totally amazing!

Beach Chairs: They claim free chairs at the beach...which is a bit of a stroll across a hot and burned out golf course. The 'free' chairs are not the comfortable ones that are provided along beach, but stacked hard chairs and no one from hotel is there to put them out for you. Also, no beach umbrellas. So we wound up renting chairs and umbrellas (2 chairs and 1 umbrella for $15 / day) from one of the vendors there. (Definitely eat at Rosie's Shack! Great grilled food and drinks at reasonable prices --- and great service -- ask for Joan on Mullet Beach).

Wi-Fi is $60 per week. Everywhere else that we went, WiFi was free! Beach, restaurants, hotels we checked out in Phillipsburg. They nickel and dime you here.

Maid service: They only change out your towels on daily basis. They don't make the beds. They come in once, mid-week, and change the sheets and make bed.

You definitely need a car to stay here. It's not walking distance to anything.

Room Tip: Request view of pool and bay.

Location, staff, room and common grounds-cleanliness, pool, security all top shelf. Have stayed here for 9 years and always an excellent experience. Views from your condo are breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. Close to restaurants, casino and nightlife.

This is a class operation. The customer service is outstanding from management to the front desk to housekeeping and even the pool man. The units are comfortable and clean. An added plus is that each unit has it's own de-humidifier that keeps your clothes from feeling damp in the tropical climate. The kitchens have full-size appliances, and the water pressure is very good throughout the different floors we have stayed in over the years. We usually stay in a one bedroom unit (separate bedroom). There is a small balcony off the bedroom and a larger one with table, chairs and two lounge chairs w/cushions. The large shower an toilet are separate from the double sink dressing area, which has a full closet and a built in cabinet with shelves and drawers. The furniture is not elaborate, but it is comfortable. If you're looking for a resort with a lot of amenities and a big restaurant, this is not for you. It also wouldn't work if you want to be right on the beach. The hotel is on the lagoon. Mullet beach is down the entrance drive and across the road - you have to walk to get there, but the hotel does have a section on the beach where you can get hotel-provided lounges. This is not an issue to us because we always have a car and tend to go to drive to other beaches on the island. For us, we're looking for a high level of customer service, a quiet location, and comfortable, clean units, and this resort is perfect for us.

My family and I were not sure what to expect after seeing some mixed reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised by Towers. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, and we couldn't believe how spacious and clean it was- the pictures don't do it justice! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and dining basics. As far as the rooms, Margaret, our maid for most of the stay took great care of us with fresh towels every day. Rooms are fully cleaned one day during the week, but are spruced up every day and trash emptied. Our room overlooked the pool and bay on the third floor. They are painting the exterior so there was some scaffolding, which I'm sure some would let bother them immensely, but it didn't block our beautiful view. Carmela at the front desk was polite and gracious. Mr. London the activities director was helpful. The pool was very nice, not many people there, but a fresh water haven in the late afternoon after a day at the beach. Stacy, the bartender most of the time, was very friendly and took good care of us. Two for one drinks 3-6 at happy hour kept us from being thirsty. You can get some basic grilled and fried food at the pool, which is the only food available on premises, and only until 630. It was a short walk to the beach, chairs are free, but you need to pay $5.00 at the front desk for an umbrella- a little nickel and dime. Beach is one of the best on the island- lots of boats stop to let people swim there. Try Rosies Snack shack for cheap island cuisine and drinks! Although you can take buses or shuttles to get around, and taxis are expensive, the best way is to rent a car. We paid for taxis the first day, then got a car for $25 a day the rest of the week that was money well spent. If you don't feel like driving far, many great restaurants close by in Maho and Cupecoy. Although the hotel is in need of updating, it was well worth it and we can't wait to go back again!

Room Tip: Best rooms overlook the pool- third floor or higher.

Recently stayed at the towers at mullet bay for a week and really enjoyed our stay. Our 2 bedroom accommodations were spacious, clean and well stocked with all the basics. Hotel staff accommodated our request to have our room changed from the ground floor to the 3rd floor and they gave us a beautiful bay view ! We spent a lot of time on the spacious balcony , at the pool(beautiful and mainly empty), and at the gorgeous mullet beach which was a short 5 minute pleasant walk away! The mullet towers is being "spruced up" and though slightly dated, really a great place to stay!

Enjoyed a week's stay at The Towers. Clean, comfortable property catering to mostly time-share owners (supposedly a few "hotel" rooms are available). Nice pool, very friendly at the pool bar, basic fitness room, laundry facilities available. Staff were very friendly and hospitable, attended to needs and questions very quickly. Very short walk to the beautiful beach. Our unit had a very nice view of Sint-Maarten and its mountains.

We are owners of a timeshare and did an exchange and decided to book for a week at The Towers at Mullet Bay.
Upon check-in we have been informed that the hotel is closed as they have a huge problem with air conditioning. So they decided to move their clients to another hotel because the important work to repair would have bother everyone.
They booked for us a similar unit in a higher category resort and we finally received more than expected.

So it's difficult for us to rate The Towers at Mullet Bay but we want to congratulate the management who cares about their clients. We really appreciated it and that's why we rated it as "Excellent"
