“Plan on extra time!”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

This is a busy local spot, with not much staff. The fish of the day is usually a whole one, bones and all, but delicious. Fried is best. Service is slow and slower, but right on the edge of the water with a great view. A good value, as all restaurants have gone up in price.

“No, Thank you !”
Reviewed 24 February 2013

My husband read in a guidebook that this restaurant was good, with authentic island food. So, we ordered pan seared grouper for dinner. Well, it came poached, smothered in a cream sauce.....apparently attempting to camouflage the UFO, (Unknown Fish Origin), because it was not grouper. No music, a TV/news was on. Um.....No!

“Not worth it”
Reviewed 23 February 2013

My husband and I arrived that this spot-a recommendation from SO many people-on a Monday night around 7pm (they open at 6:30pm). Most of the tables were already occupied and a gentleman pointed us to one open table. We sat down and waited. As we looked around we realized that no one was eating and most tables didn't have any drinks. 15 minutes went by and we realized there was ONE guy who was waiting on tables AND cooking. I went up and grabbed us menus. 15 minutes later we watched people look around helplessly and a few tables received drinks and some even got to place orders! After sitting for close to 45 minutes without so much as a nod from the waiter/cook my husband announced that he had ants crawling all over him. We stood up to leave-it was close to 8pm now-and a table next to us (who still had yet to receive ANY food) encouraged us to stay because it would be worth it. After some discussion we sat back down and decided to give it a try-all those great reviews couldn't be wrong right? We finally ordered drinks/food about an hour in. We received drinks about 15 minutes after this-it became fairly comical as we watched people become increasingly shocked and frustrated at the appalling lack of service. New folks that came in had no idea what they were in for. A few other waiters showed up and service seemed to improve for other larger tables. We felt lucky to have something to drink. About an 1.25 hours into the experience we received our conch fritter appetizer. It was pretty good, conch fritters aren't that tricky. At close to two hours we received our main dishes. My husband was excited to order/receive the Ginger Chicken which came SO highly recommended. WHAT A LET DOWN! It was a pounded chicken breast with some breading and a sweet sauce. Fairly bland and something I probably made in college or when I got my first apartment and was experimenting with cooking. On the side were some completely unseasoned boiled cauliflower and carrots-no butter, no sauce, no spices-and if you thought we might be able to ask for some butter you MUST be crazy as we were lucky to have gotten our check. My shrimp roti was large and decent but nothing to rave about. We were completely baffled by how much we heard about this place and how awful our experience was. This was nowhere near worth the wait, the poor service, the ants or the outhouse that I had to use while there. To be fair perhaps we were there on an off night? Maybe we should have gotten there earlier? Another table we spoke to said they were the first people to order and first to arrive, they still waited about 1.5 hours for their food. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences we had on Tortola-second only to Pussers :)

“Best food quality/value meal we had”
Reviewed 18 February 2013

This was a recommendation from our hotel, and it was right on. Nothing fancy, no pretense, but very good food at a reasonable price.

“My favorite local spot”
Reviewed 15 February 2013

Simple local food, done well. Stayed up the road on Cappoon Bay. Manager directed us to this place, stressing local food. The place was full when we got there, but scored a table on the edge, looking out over the moonlite bay. Wonderful setting. Beer was cold and service was way above Caribbean standard. Ginger Wine chicken is supposed to be the don't miss, but the Snapper in lemon/caper sauce was to die for. Not elegant, but not to be missed.
