The staff and the accommodation were excellent, especially travelling with our 16 year old daughter. Our bags did not arrive with us from Barbados - they were missing for two days, but all of the staff went out of their way in helping us, and took over ref the phones calls that were involved in tracing the whereabouts of our bags. Would recommend highly and stay there again. A brilliant location all round.

My wife and I enjoyed our 7 day honeymoon at the Sugar Mill restaurant in November of this year. We both love to travel, and agreed that while by no means the most fancy or expensive hotel we have stayed at, the Sugar Mill might well be the best. We stayed in a Pool suite which was beautifully set out, with an amazing view from the balcony, and a gorgeous outdoor stone shower. The subtle and thoughtful way the rooms were appointed completely enhanced the experience, making it so easy to just relax and enjoy the vacation. Watching the sunset from the balcony, or the hotel beach, or having breakfast while watching pelicans fish in the bay was incredible.
The staff were great, and organized whatever activities we wanted to enjoy, taking excellent care of us throughout our stay. The food at the Sugar Mill restaurant was fantastic, and the restaurant itself a brilliant venue that fitted into the island beautifully.
This is a small hotel which made it feel like we were almost the only guests there. It was the perfect honeymoon that we had always hoped for, and will never forget.
My only reservation about being so positive about the Sugar Mill is that it may make it more difficult for us to get a room there next time we visit, as more people discover this incredible place.

Room Tip: All rooms seem great, we stayed in a Pool Suite

In one word, we find The Sugar Mill to be magical ... the friendly staff are a step above just about every other hotel I have stayed in, dinner at the restaurant will rival any other on the island, and the location is also great. We use it every year to get ready for our annual sailing charter as well as to unwind after we get back to the marina. A wonderful way to relax ...

Our room was very comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the ocean. The sound of the surf and the evening frog chorus was music from heaven for me. My wife and I spent a lit of time on the balcony enjoying the sunsets and watching the pelicans dive for fish. We spent seven days there and had purchased their adventure package and enjoyed four delightful meals in their restaurant as part of the package. We also had many breakfast there and especially enjoyed their French Toast with rum soaked apple topping. The restaurant service was tops (we enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner). Their pool is large and attractive and I am guilty of enjoying a lot of hammock time on our balcony.

So come and enjoy the laid back and friendly folks of the BVIs. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

The TV was acceptable but really needed a DVD player with movies available as the available programs seem to be all advertisements. There is lots of reading material available.

The beach across the road is exclusive for hotel guests and has a sheltered gazebo that serves drinks and lunches. The beach is fine for sunning and the swimming is ok provided there is not a lot of surf. We went to Brewers Bay ( few exciting miles away by car) for snorkeling, but the best snorkeling is by going on a day sailing package. We also went to swim with the porpoise and had a super time there. I should mention that my wife and I are both in our seventies. The only downside of our vacation was the rainy weather and high surf and arranging transportation from St. Thomas-don't trust the published ferry service schedule (especially late afternoon). I suggest you call first.

Room Tip: We had the Plantation Suite room. It is close to the road but road noise is overcome by the sound of surf an the frog chorus. The room A/C is very quiet but seldom needed as there is lots of fresh air and nights are pleasant.

We stayed here for seven nights. Overall, it is a nice enough place but could use some updating. The nights are pretty quiet on Tortola, so a television with cable and perhaps a DVD player would have been good. The beach out front is kind of rough for swimming, but a nice view. The outdoor shower at our room (no indoor shower is available) was okay but there was not enough hot water for my husband and I to each have a hot shower without making sure we kept it very short. Staff was overall pleasant. Dining room for dinner is very nice but expensive. Lunch on the beach was really good. If you stay here you must rent a car, as it's pretty isolated.

Room Tip: The pool suites provide a nice seating/living area separate from the bedroom which is good if one person wants to get up earlier than the other.
