never having been to Tortola we had no idea what to expect..I read about the Heritage and it sounded great but it had one very bad review about the food being bad and the pool dirty..so I called and spoke to Chris and she explained everything to me, the writer later apologized so we signed up..my wife and I could not have been happier..its a marvellous place but most importantly everybody, Chris, Rosa and Nykolas are all so cheerful and helpful..we had some friends come over for drinks and others for dinner and we could not have been happier..great food and ambiance...its a great place and we shall be back next year..now if we could just get Chris to work on the immigration people being more friendly and helpful, life would be perfect!!!

It was tricky finding a place to stay since we hadn't been to the BVI before and we only had two weeks to plan. Until the last days before we left we thought we might end up sleeping in the Jeep. And then I came across the Heritage Inn and they managed to squeeze us in for our short vacation.

WOW. What a spot. It was splendid. The atmosphere, service, restaurant - all were terrific. The Heritage Inn is high on a hill with spectacular views - and with a pool if you couldn't drag yourself to the nearest beaches which are only minutes away. We did check out the beach resort spots while we were there and we are very happy we didn't stay at one of them. The Bananakeet Restaurant was great - the best food we had on the Island.

Hands down, we'd stay there again in a heart beat.

We stayed at the Heritage and thought it was lovely for the price. The Bedrooms are very nice and comfortable. The kitchen is fine. The living rooms could use a little improvement. The view is fantastic but there are no awnings so you cannot sit out on your patio in the afternoon and early evening until the sun goes down as it is too hot with no shade. The pool is very nice. Best of all is the restuarant. We found the food to be excellent. The best we had eaten on the island. bgoodwin Freeport, Maine

I am really torn. My husband and I stayed there recently and the Heritage Inn fullfilled expectations we did not know we had. I am afraid to let the secret out.

It is very rare when the beauty of a place and the beauty people are capable of come together. For us, the food, ambiance, and location are the best we have encountered and we have traveled to the BVI many times over the past 20 years. When we came back to our room from our many adventures, we felt like we were coming home. We will most certainly be back.

It was our first visit to the Heritage Inn so I can't speak to past management but Chris is awesome!!!

Thanks so much, Chris. See you next year!!!

This hotel is a gem, particularly if you value location, friendliness and - especially - spectacular views above luxury "resort" accommodation. The rooms are spacious, functional and well equipped, though somehwat spartan -- probably better for those who want to spend much of their time outdoors rather than "cabin hounds." While the individual balconies vary in size and privacy (some are quite close to one another), all have the same spectacular view to the northwest over Carrot/Apple Bays and to Jost Van Dyke/St John/St Thomas in the distance. Bring binoculars and keep an eye on the goings-on at Bomba's! The location is a very quick drive to Cane Garden Bay (excellent "full-service" beach) as well as the the ferry dock/marina at West End/Soper's Hole. Road Town is a bit farther, but still a manageable drive. The pool and bar/restaurant are a great place to catch the sunset while savoring an expertly mixed pain-killer or bush-whacker. Service was excellent -- the staff was glad to leave a pint of milk in my fridge so I could have it with my coffee the first morning. I'll be back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Heritage Inn is just what you want if you are looking for the total getaway. The Inn is located on the hilltop of a sleepy village: Carrot Bay, on the north side of Tortola. These comfortable apartments offer probably the most breathtaking views on the island: "voted Best sunset view in the BVI!" 180 degrees east and west and overlooking Jost Van Dyke, Sandy & Green Cays and three Tortola bays. This locally owned inn is quaint and quiet. Each suite has a private view-facing balcony and is furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, living room and AC king-size bed in bedrooms. Three suites have two bedrooms for family or friendly vacationers. Six, clean and comfortable, one bedroom suites also offer enough space to just forget your cares and hang out for a week. The views are so beautiful that most guests just "gape" for the first few days. In the summer the sun sets directly over the water. It is so beautiful that the locals go up for sunset cocktails at the BananaKeet Cafe on the poolside veranda to watch the sun setting over the awesome horizon. It's no wonder the slogan reads... the Higher you Get... the Better the Views!! ... more   less
