“Honeymoon in Heaven”

What a beautiful, secluded, and romantic villa. The view from the infinity pool is amazing and we very much enjoyed soaking and floating in the pool. The house is lovely and well furnished, the bed was very comfortable. It is true that the driveway is rough, but with a little practice we managed. We visited in September and not only felt that we had Kerensa Villa to ourselves, but often the whole Island to ourselves.
Our only complaint about Kerensa is the mosquitos. We realize the owner cannot control nature, and the villa is in a very tropical setting. Also, it rained heavily before we arrived, though we had very nice weather. We found the mosquitos bothersome on both the interior and exterior of the home, be advised that mosquito repellent is a requirement.
This vacation rental will likely best suit those who are adventurous. We loved our stay at Kerensa, the amenities were well worth the mosquito irritation.

“Fabulous views”

Kerensa is nestled away in a super private location and there is no doubt that the views are breath taking. Its peaceful and beautiful to look out to the ocean. The view from the bedroom is stunning too. I probably would of still preferred some form of curtain even just voile panels would be perfect. We were glad to have got a jeep 4x4 as couldn't of managed without this, the track into the property is bumpy and rubbly, the roads are in the mountains, unfortunately due to season we experienced a lot of rain, which made conditions slippery in some places when exploring the island. So definitely a must!

I agree with another reviewer that this is definitely more simple and rustic than the pictures. Ben does state this is a simple property on the site. I think the website pictures are probably from launch. We felt that the property generally could generally do with some maintenance and TLC. Gardens overgrown & weedy, pool needed a good clean, balcony seats broken in bedroom etc.

Facilities are good, TV with DVD, surround sound system was fabulous. Wifi access was great if a little spotty but fab to have it. Cooker and amenities provided were good. Air Con for us was a must. The amount of Mosquitos here is crazy and we just couldn't leave the doors open because of them. Coils and spray is a must!

The Bed is super comfy which was great. As far as the outdoor shower goes, we get the principle behind it and it is aesthetically a nice idea, but practically it didn't work. I dreaded showering and it became a chore doing so outside with the Mosquitos, leaves and everything. Felt more like camping which is not what I want when I am on vacation. We stayed 9 nights too so maybe a few nights would be more bearable. I couldn't wait to get home and shower properly. And in all honesty had I of noticed this properly on the website I probably wouldn't have booked it.

Was a little disappointed with the overall cleanliness, toilet wasn't that clean & appreciate Mosquitos are a huge problem but I really didn't like cleaning them off the headboard and seeing them splattered on the fridge and the walls in our bedroom from previous visitors. For the price per night this is equivalent to staying in a top resort and we just felt it fell short. Had we of stayed & paid for high season we would of been really disappointed.

With regards to the island & property access you really have to be prepared to drive round and explore as amenities aren't lined up on your doorstep, we knew this prior and it's a fun exploring holiday, we drove all round the island and mountains and its beautiful. Cane garden bay is a good local spot for beach, dinner and watching the charter boats and guests come in and out. We used trip adviser for restaurants with everything being specifically located and it was great had some lovely meals. Enjoyed cooking in too.

All in all we had a lovely stay and again the views are breathtaking, it's a wonderful peaceful spot. Ben was a pleasure to deal with prompt and helpful with the booking. With a few good alterations and some well needed TLC I am sure Kerensa really would be paradise.

“A Week in Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We just enjoyed a week at Kerensa and it was truly wonderful. The views of Brewers Bay, Sharks Bay, and nearby islands were just stunning and the sunsets were breathtaking. There are two rooms separated by an outdoor dining area - one was the kitchen/living area and the other was the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets, blankets and pillows were just right. The pool was a wonderful amenity to have. We also made use of the grill. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and some cooking items. Having wi-fi was a great amenity, though sometimes slow or spotty - definitely better than nothing when we wanted to listen to internet radio (surround sound speakers/outdoor speakers were great!) or use our phones/iPads.

Reading the other reviews was very helpful prior to our visit. I agree with another guest that it looked a little more rustic in real life, even though at the same time it did look just like the pictures. We came prepared to be eaten by mosquitoes due to the location of the home (you are basically living in a forest). We had repellent with us and they also provided spray, citronella candles and coils. The mosquitoes left my husband alone but I got over 30 bites. I think I got half of them in the first 15 minutes we were there, so spray repellent BEFORE arriving to Kerensa! The shower is outdoors and connects to the bathroom with a screen door, so there were a lot of mosquitos in that part of the house. We also had a gecko or lizard in the bathroom, but it always hid behind the mirror when we walked in. Didn't bother us since it probably helped cut down on the mosquitos. :)

You do need to be a bit of an outdoorsy type to fully enjoy this villa, and you need to be comfortable driving a 4WD vehicle on steep, bumpy roads. We never ventured out after dark because we were not used to the narrow roads and not having street signs or lights, but that was our personal preference. If we stayed longer, we would probably be more comfortable driving. Ben was a great host - quick to respond to emails and fix anything we had an issue with. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this home to others. It was a dream in paradise come true!

“Heavenly”

My husband is a BVI "regular" and knew the general location of Kerensa based on the listing. What we didn't realize (until we arrived) is that Kerensa is perched on a unique and private parcel, is adorably appointed, has a perfect floor plan and offers the most stunning vistas of miles of horizon. The linens were excellent quality (something I'm a stickler about), the kitchen (and accoutrements) is perfect for making delicious meals and you have many choices for outdoor dinning with spectaculars view. The property has been lovingly maintained, everything in perfect working condition. Ben made it clear we could contact him for anything, but we didn't need to! All we had to bring were our clothes and food. Ben & Jessica have thought of and provided everything you will need for making your stay enjoyable. We were thrilled to find 2 beach chairs, plenty of towels and even a cigar cutter! The furnishings & adornments were lovely touches of old-world charm - a good part of my first day was spent wandering the property inside and out, admiring all of the eclectic touches carefully placed throughout. We can't wait to come 'home' to Kerensa next year!

“Amazing romantic memorable”

We spent three nights at Kerensa and it was truly memorable. Definitely the most romantic place we've ever been! The outdoor living area was gorgeous, the pool was wonderfully private and the views without compare. But it was much more "rustic" than we thought by the pictures and description. No way we wanted to eat in the outdoor dining room with the crabs and other creatures, the outside shower was creepy at night, the kitchen was crawling with mosquitos and the bedroom was hot when the electricity went out at night, which was a regular occurrence. If the bug problem could be fixed, the screens worked properly and/or there was a generator, it might truly be heaven on earth!
