“A run-down and unfriendly garden to be avoided!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

The garden itself is clearly run-down as many plants are untreated and unsigned. It is small and uninspiring. Better stay in the small central park of Tortola near the pier...

Besides, bear in mind that the botanical garden door closes at 4 PM already even if daylight lasts until 7 PM! They hardly work much in Tortola but ask quickly for easy money...

The cashier at the entrance was unfriendly. She was even rude to visitors coming at 3:50 PM and refused them even for a 5 minutes walk around (the garden is very small in size) though they were on a single visit on a cruise! No tolerance at all. She loudly said that "she had to visit her kids"! This bad attitude shocked us. Therefore, we highly disrecommand people to financially support this bad treated garden!

“Solitude”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013

Amazing piece off solitude right in the middle of town. So peaceful and quiet in comparison to its surroundings - not that Road Town is noisey and chaotic. Very nice labelling of most vegetation with a very helpful guideing pamphlet. Within easy walking distance of downtown.

“Shady pleasant place to reflect and get away from the busy town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2013 via mobile

We went to the gardens with our children as its a nice place they can be let loose in the middle of a very busy town on a hot day. It had a pleasant feel and some lovely interesting plants, etc.. Possibly could do with a little more maintenance, toilets etc... But the. We live right by cardiff's roath park so have very high standards for gardens/ parks etc. kids loved the turtles and were busy spotting tadpoles/ fish etc.. I wonder if a tea room or small cafe may boost the appeal to visitors perhaps. Overall a nice hour away from traffic, hustle and bustle, recommended.

“Nice”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2012

You can see that some effort has been done to make the Botanical Gardens on Tortola nice, but it is a bit disappointing that it is not breathtaking. There are so many species of beautiful plants that thrive in the BVI and yet we only get a very small selection.

“A bit damaged but interesting nonetheless”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2012

A pleasant amble though it looks as if the gardens have had hurricane damage and some neglect. Lots of tropical plant species and a wonderful old ficus tree in the back.
