We arrived on a cruise ship for a day's activity. This was our last Island to visit on the trip. It was only a few minutes walk from the downtown area of which I thought looked quite run down unfortunately. This beautiful place offered a few moments of serenity and reflection as well as viewing the unique and beautiful flowers, plants and trees. You can spend 15 minutes or 2 hours depending on your interest. Recommended!

Lovely gardens close to Road Town.nice to walk round. The Sugar works museum nearby is well worth a visit, it is free and we were given a book when we made a donation.

It was a very relaxing experience, strolling around the gardens and observing the diversity of the flora. The staff was very friendly and eager to show you some of the plants. The visit to the pond to watch the turtles proved to be the highlight of the visit. Some areas looked dry and lacking attention. But overall, it's well maintained and restroom facilities were very clean. Would recommend and would go back again.

Named after the BVI's first conservationist, the JR O'Neal Botanic Gardens offer an escape from the daily hustle and bustle of island life.

Set in a quiet neighbourhood in the centre of town, it was deserted when I visited, which isn't surprising, as it's quite 'tucked away'. It wasn't expensive (about $3, although locals pay less anyway) and it felt like I had the place to myself. Even though it had been raining that day, the gardens were beautiful, representing the different habitats that are present in the BVI. Amongst the exotic species of plants is a nursery, which helps to nurture plants currently endangered by loss of habitat in the wild.

After walking around for a bit, I sat down with a book by the fountain, where I shared the bench with a friendly lizard for a few hours. A great place to kill a few hours, rain or shine.

These gardens are located near the center of Road Town and provide a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Many exotic and common flora are on display and it is a wonderful place to have a picnic.
