We stayed here at the beginning and the end of our stay (having sailed a week in between on the beautiful Viking Dream catamaran!). The first weekend, we had booked a room with two double-beds for one night overlooking the Marina. When we arrived, we were informed that our room was not available but fortunately they upgraded us to one of their cabana suites. This actually was not bad - two bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and living room. My only complaint was that the music from the bar next door was incredibly loud and the a/c in our room leaked. Neither was a show-stopper for us, however. The leak was containable and the music stopped at 11pm. Had this been our only experience, I would have given this place three stars. Unfortunately, we returned the next weekend for one night. We were again told that our room was unavailable, but so was the cabana suite. They then took us to a room that had one king size bed. They offered us two extra cots for my boys. What's worse, the room's air conditioning unit was malfunctioning. This led to a very hot last night in Tortola. The bathroom was also moldy. For what it's worth, the staff were earnest in their attempt to find solutions, but they were incompetent, particularly when it came to the A/C problem - they promised to send in the "A/C guy" but he never showed. If we are ever fortunate enought to return to Tortola, it will not be here.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. You simply can't depend on their representations regarding the quality of their rooms. The whole place needs a major renovation. Until that happens, I would stay away from this place.

Room Tip: I would ask for a cabana suite. Otherwise, I would not come here because you simply cannot trust th...

We spent one night before and one night after our sailing trip in the BVI...there were no electrical outlets in the bathrooms. The roll-a-way bed's mattress was horrible...we asked for two roll-a-ways so that we could stack the two mattresses together for a better sleep (it barely helped).

Room Tip: I really don't know where else we would stay...I'll probably check some other property for f...

We arrived mid morning from the ferry and needed to spend one night in Road Town before chartering a boat the following day. Unfortunately we chose this motel. The indifference we encountered was astounding, from the reception to the restaurant. It was as if we offended these people by having to interact with us. When we finally got to the room, we had to haul our bags up 3 stories to a dark little room with a view of a concrete wall. We had traveled quite a distance to get here and we were looking forward to hanging out by their pool only to find that they had drained it and didn't know and didn't care when it was to be filled again. (I had asked several days before if they had a pool and the answer was 'yes' but no mention that it lacked water.) It was our first time in Tortola and we were so excited to be there, so it was too bad we had to encounter such apathy and negativity.

Village Cay is a small Motel-6 style hotel on the marina of the same name. There is a restaurant, a small pool and a bar. There are three floors, but no elevator, so if you have heavy bags make sure to request a lower floor. It is important to note that at this hotel not all rooms are created equal. Our friends and we both booked the same size of room - the waterfront room. We were both charged something around $200/nt. However, our rooms were quite different in quality.

Our room was on the third floor - no bell service available so we had to haul our multiple bags up the narrow stairway to the third floor. The room was regular sized, pretty small but not tiny. The small, old-style TV barely worked - maybe five channels and even those were fuzzy. No ceiling fans and the A/C was on-the-wall and aimed directly at the bed so it was difficult to sleep. The bathroom was scuzzy and dirty, the sink didn't drain, the toilet leaked out of the base onto the floor, the shower head was so clogged and corroded it barely even sprayed. The lights were old-style flourescent and seemed more suited to a mental hospital than a $200/nt hotel. The bed was hard, and the view was over the bar to the marina. There was a desk for a computer and free wi-fi was painfully slow but worked much of the time. Calls from the room were $2.00/minute for local calls as I recall.

Our friends' room was on the second floor and renovated. It had ceiling fans, was much larger than ours, even had a nice little balcony. Flat-screen television worked well. Clean and while not extravagant was at least in line with what we'd expected from the place. They were satisfied with their room - as we would have been if we'd had it.

Restaurant was just ok - about what you'd expect from the BVI, but nice to have there. The bartender was either mute or very grouchy, I'm not sure which, but probably not both. One weekend night music blasts from the place next door and you can't sleep until it stops, your whole room is vibrating from the bass. Wifi works in the bar too.

About 20 minutes and $30.00 from the airport. Not much within walking distance that looked very interesting, though there is a rental car place a block away we rented a car from. You can walk from here to Dove, the best restaurant in town.

We found our room appalling for the price, though our friend's room seemed pretty good, a world apart from ours. We complained about the difference at the front desk, the guy didn't care at all. Too bad he said. Same price. Not impressed with either the room or the service, but this is the only place to stay if you're meeting a boat at Village Cay.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a renovated room. I think it's room #2 that was good, room #9 that was bad...

From previous reviews I wasnt expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were very clean & updated. Staff was helpful. Marina restaurant had good food (albeit pricey) and great drinks! Nice to stroll on the docks after dinner. I would stay here again.

This motel/bar/restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the ferry dock; therefore very conveniently located for folks chartering with TMM Yacht Charters.

We stayed at this charming motel (it is more or a motel than a hotel) for 1 night before our sailing charter through the British Virgin Islands. The rooms are adequate with air conditioning and 2 very comfortable beds. We were delighted to discover a small bar fridge in the room and coffee maker for coffee early the next morning. The bathroom was equipped with a working hair dryer.

The motel is part of a marina and the lovely restaurant is situated dockside overlooking the boats in the marina. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The dinner was a bit pricey but they were extremely accommodating. My hubby just felt like having a hamburger and fries and although this was not on the menu all we had to was ask and they were able to provide. I ordered a dish of chicken and salad and again this was not on the menu but they were able to serve this to us. Breakfast the next morning was traditional, tasty, standard pricing and served quickly.

We would stay at this hotel again under the same circumstances.

The only negative thing I can say is there was no elevator and we had to haul our HEAVY duffle bags up 4 flights of stairs.

I made my reservation for a condo six months in advance and was downgraded just before our trip. I made my reservation before my sister and she did not get downgraded!! We arrived at noon and were told check in was not until three. The woman at the front desk was just plain rude. We asked if there was anything she could do to get us in early and she said come back in a little while. She made no effort to make us feel welcome, didn't tell us where we could put our luggage, etc. she made us feel like we were trespassing. When we were finally able to check in at three O'clock, no one helped us with our bags and we had to climb two flights of stairs. When our key didn't work, the front desk gal wanted us to come back down to get a new one. Then we had no towels. The room was clean and nice. Nice view and the restaurant staff was fabulous for both lunch and dinner. Nice view and the food was good. Nice pool but it was dirty with cigarette butts in the bottom... We would definitely stay somewhere else next time. We only stayed one night after a week long yacht charter and were looking for a nice place to rest and relax. Did not find it here. Gal ate front desk ought to take a course I dealing with customers and remembering that her customers pay her salary.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.
