We stayed here following a week long sailing trip. The 2 bedroom villa was perfect for 2 couples. Each bedroom had a nice big bathroom with walk in shower and the living room/dining/kitchen area was spacious, opening onto a balcony with stunning views. It was so quiet and relaxing there. Great happy hour with $3 mojitos and $2 fish or beef tacos. The bar wasn't always open so stock up and bring drinks from your villa. There were lots of private places to relax by the ocean and the pool - gazebos, lawn chairs, sofas, a private dock - plus a small lagoon perfect for youngsters. We were able to snorkel right at Frenchmans - better snorkeling other places in the BVIs but it was pretty wonderful here too. The "continental" breakfast is not continental at all. The chef prepares an entree of the day and you have a choice of that, or toast, or granola/yogurt. The entrees were things like breakfast burrito, quiche, omelette, etc. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night (it isn't open every night). Good food. But the happy hour tacos can make a complete dinner too. I would go back here again in a heartbeat. It is a short walk to the enclave of Sopers Hole where there's a large grocery and several other restaurants and shopping. I would advise getting a rental car - we used Sam the taxi driver - and while he was an outstanding guide and driver, we spent a lot of $ on rides. A rental car would've been more economical.

Room Tip: Avocado was the villa at the top where we stayed. Stunning views.

What a great concept - a villa with all the amenities of a resort
We didn't think the restaurant was great, but we only ate there once.
We weren't overly impressed by the bar
The pool was closed for our first day and after that, it concerned us, that we couldn't see the bottom of it, so never went into it.
Our 2 bed villa was beautiful and spotless, we loved it!!!!
We shall be back as we can over look a few minor problems for the amazing villas and views, the location on Tortola was also great and easy to get around to various places

It took me a long while to write this review for Frenchman's but only because I have been swamped at work and daydreaming about coming back. I decided to escape the family and turkey madness in November 2011 and booked a long weekend at Frenchman's. THIS. PLACE. IS. PEFECT.
In addition to having a ENORMOUS 2 floor flat all to myself. The views are spectacular. As someone who grew up in Tortola, I have to say that staying on the West End is the best way to recharge. The kitchen has all the supplies you could wish for from pots to plates, to wine glasses and a double decker fridge. Truly spectacular. I stayed in the Sugar Apple room, which was a tease since the actual fruit wasn't in season. The breakfasts and dinners at the restaurant were scrumptous and I fell asleep each night on the verandah before rousing myself to my comfy king bed.
If you ever have the opportunity to splurge and want your own slice of remote paradise; come to Frenchman's. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I just returned from our stay at Frenchman's resort in the West End.
The location of the resort is beautiful, and after seeing a lot on the island we were so happy we choose to stay at Frenchman's. They have a private beach which has good snorkeling, sunbathing chairs available as well as Kayaks. From the moment we got in touch with Frenchman's, the staff was so pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. Chris, Nadia and Julesa were all great about making our stay with them the best.
The clubhouse is great to have dinner at one of the better places to dine on the island. We also recommend checking out the Dove restaurant in Road Town. In addition to dinner we also ate breakfast at the clubhouse which was prepared fresh each morning by the chef. The coffee is wonderful, as well as the guava juice.
They have a decent happy hour where they offer specials on mojitos and tacos, definitely try the beef or fish tacos they are delicious.
The resort itself is quaint and is made up of different size villas.
We stayed in Guava and were pleased with our accommodations during our stay. The view was stunning and we enjoyed relaxing on our porch in the morning and night. The bed was very comfortable and the living area space was good during rainy days. The decor of the villa was tasteful and done well. When we arrived to Guava, we presented with a personalized greeting that provided information on the resort and Tortola. It was a very nice personal touch.
If you are going to stay here I would recommend renting a car. The island has a lot to offer, but things are spaced out so a car was useful in getting around. Frenchman's is close to Soper's Hole and the Jolly Rodger and the West end Ferry Dock.
We recommend checking out Smugglers Cove, Cane Garden Bay, and Long Bay.
Frenchman's allowed us to relax, recharge and enjoy the beauty of Tortola and the BVI.. We had a very good experience at Frenchman's and were very happy with the accommodations, the staff and the amenities included.
If we ever make it back we will be sure to stay at Frenchman's.

Room Tip: We loved our view looking out to the Sir Frances Drake Channel.. We were in Guava.. and the cocoon c...

We just returned from Frenchman's Cay last week. This place is AMAZING! Fabulous location for a honeymoon! Very quaint and staff is wonderful. The resort is clean, the cottages are furnished nicely-they are air conditioned! And the beds are unbelievably comfortable.
One of the main things I liked about FC is that bc it is so small, the staff is able to get to know you and calls you by name every chance possible. Our positive experience started with Julisa when we booked the cottage. She was very friendly and accommodating!
Lusilla is a wonderful lady who greets you daily for an unbelievable breakfast and dinner. They say the breakfast is continental but that is not true. You will have a gourment meal made for you daily. Some of the items we received while there were: Belgium waffles, mango pancakes, smoked salmon omelets, quiche lorraine, french toast, and breakfast burritos. Chef Paul makes everything from scratch. Even his own sauces. You will NOT be disappointed. The french press coffee isn't too shabby either.
Karen, the bartender, is a hoot. She will entertain you for happy hour Tuesday - Saturday. Happy Hour includes discounted drinks, obviously, but you can also have $3 mojitos and $2 tacos. Fish and beef! Not just any tacos, either. These are DELISH!
The restaurant is open air and looks out over the beautiful pool and point. There was a nice breeze each day so it was always pleasant in the restaurant.
I recommend renting a car instead of getting a cab. Two reasons: 1) the fee for a car is around $65 per day where the fee for a cab can be $60 just to head 5 miles down the road to go to other restaurants on the island. Renting the car will give you the ability to go to many of the other locations that were recommended to us: Sugar Mill Restaurant, Smuggler's Cove, Long Bay, Bananakeet Cafe, Sage Mountain, etc. Keep in mind that they drive on the left hand side of the road and the roads are extremely narrow!! Can be a little stressful but you will get used to it.
We did a couple of day trips which are a must: Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda -The Baths & Devil's Bay. We took the ferry to these places which was very affordable and allowed us to stay as long as we wanted, which was usually all day. They go over in the morning between 9 - 10. You have a couple options for getting back as well. There is a Ferry between 2-3 and another one at 5.
We stayed for 7 days and wish we could have stayed longer! We are already planning a trip back next year for our anniversary!
One thing I wish I would have packed is DRAMAMINE! I didn't think about the fact that the roads would be very hilly and the water can be a bit rough when you are on the ferry. It was impossible to find once we were on the island.
There was not one thing negative about this resort or trip! BOOK IT!

Room Tip: All rooms are in a good location but some of the bigger cottages (sleeps 4 instead of 2) are up a hi...

My mother and I took a girls' vacation to Tortola in mid-February and stayed at the most amazing resort at Frenchman's Cay. We stayed in the Candy Apple Villa, which was a spacious and beautifully decorated suite, providing air conditioning in each room, two private bedrooms with ensuite facilities and large and very comfortable beds, a full living room, dining room, and modern kitchen. Each of the three floors in the villa have large balconies, all with a view of the beach and islands. Each morning we had an excellent gourmet breakfast at the restaurant, which had a very friendly and professional staff. The menu for lunch and dinner offers a variety of dishes, ranging from delicious French to Korean cuisine. Below the restaurant is a lounging area with a swimming pool just a few steps from the beach. The beachfront extends to point with a beautiful view of the harbour and islands, and the private beach provides guests with cabana covered lounges for comfort. This was one of the best vacations I have experienced which is greatly attributed to having such amazing accommodations. I highly recommend this resort to couples, friends, and family.

This was my fourth trip to the BVI's and my first stay but not my last at Frenchman's Hotel. The suite was a two bedroom air-conditioned, spacious and tastefully decorated accomodation. The view from all three balconies was spectacular. You could see water on three sides, the bay, out towards Virgin Gorda, and Roadtown, and off to the right was St. John's Island. I set the alarm each day just to watch the most wonderful sunsets. The staff were very courteous, helpful and prompt. For instance, we wished to go to Virgin Gorda, and they downloaded the ferry times for me. The breakfast was included and was fresh fruit, eggs, or mango pancakes. It was delicious, and the coffee superb. The dining room was quite large and located down by the water. The menu for the evening meals varied with differing specials. I would recommend the escargot, and the lobster dish. It was not only delicious, but just the right amount of food after a day snorkeling at their gorgeous beach, and taking in the marine life. The management greeted us upon arrival, and in our room was a personalized greeting to reiterated information on the pool, the tennis courts, and snorkeling, among some of the activities offered. Thank you again to the staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience.
