“Stellar service Fantastic location Anonymous food”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

I spent a week at Little Dix Bay hotel an exclusive location in which you feel far away from the world and you do nor care.
The location is fantastic : an exclusive long sandy beach, a magnificent garden where rooms are located , an esmerald sea and an home reef with multicolor fishes, tortoises and corals. What you can ask more ?
The hotel service is stellar from the welcoming at the airport with check in to the catamaran transfer, the room cleaning, the water services , the check out and transfer to the airport. Every need is taken care with a smile.
The food is the weak point of this hotel. There are three restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner. The main limitation of those restaurants is that in all of them you feel as if you where in an average american restaurant. There is no locall food everything is imported . I do not like to eat lousy blue berries in a location where fresh mangos papayas and passion fruit should be available . I understand that americans are the more numerous customers but may be more attention to locally grown food could be appreciated.
Prices are very high and i am not sure how they compare with other hotel in the BVI but i must admit that location and service justify the cost according to me.

What a wonderful place. Everyone was SO nice and helpful. We asked for beach towels and they were delivered within minutes. If you call for a golf cart to bring you somewhere they are there within minutes. The resort is beautiful and the snorkeling in the bay is awesome. We saw fish, big turtles and manta rays. Everything you could want is at the resort. The food, especially the fresh fruit, is mouth watering - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The room is beautiful and very clean with fresh ice twice a day and fresh flowers and our bed turned down every night with our in suite soft flip flops/slippers set out every night. I don't have one bad comment and would love to come back.

I have one word to say: Paradise.

My Mum and I travelled to LDB from the 21st to the 29th April 2014. It was our first time in BVI and didn't know what to expect, although many people had recommended these islands. The only real problem is that from the UK, it's quite a long journey as there are no direct flights. But our exasperation and tiredness evaporated as soon as we were greeted by 2 hotel staff members at the airport in Beef Island. We were taken to the hotel (located on Virgin Gorda) via the hotel's private catamaran, on which we were offered deliciously refreshing fruit punches and cold towels. Needless to say, after 8hrs flight, 1h30 wait in Antigua airport and 1h30 transit journey and a 30min queue at immigration (it was night time when we landed), we really (realllllyyy) appreciated the attention.

We arrived at the hotel during night time, meaning that we saw how beautifully lit it was: the lights with the thousands of stars in the sky was all we could make out as caribbean nights are pitch black. It was really gorgeous! We were quickly taken to our rooms and had diner at the Pavilion. R

Overall, I thing this is one of the most beautiful and magical places there is to discover. The beach is absolutely huge, and it really felt like we were alone on the beach, despite the hotel being almost full. It's just so peaceful! Our stay was just too short…we really did not want to leave.

Now into more detail:

ROOMS:
we had an sea view, and had opted for the cheapest room option…which was still really great! The bedding was incredibly comfy, the bathrooms were nice (although my Mum would've liked the showers to have been "a la française" meaning you get a flexible shower…but then again that's just us frenchies whinging for the smallest details). The fridge was a little noisy so we had it unplugged but frankly it's not a big problem. The bedroom itself was spacious, comfy and warm. Plus everything was spotless!

FOOD:
Okay, so we're French…food is a very big deal. And at the Pavilion, the Sugar Mill and the Beach Grill, the food was absolutely delicious. When I say delicious…we asked for the recipe for the Green Gazpacho with Lemon Sorbet (soooo gooood), but frankly everything was just to die for. The seafood was incredible (had loads of lobster), so were the fruit, the coconut bread (yup …bread that is coconut flavoured) the smoothies for breakfast, and the list could go on forever. It was healthy and mouth watering! It is quite expensive though, but we had booked through and all inclusive offer, which meant we had payed before hand for the meals ….probably a lot less expensive than paying meal by meal!!

SERVICE/STAFF:
The staff was so kind! Thank you Natasha, Arlene, Lee-Ann, Magdalena, Athea, Luis, Lissa, and all the other staff members that made our stay so special and who gave us such a warm welcome!!
They were quick to answer any queries/fix maintenance problems, and always had a huge smile. So thank you!

SPA:
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous! You have to at least go up there and see for yourself. The treatments are really good too, and the staff are adorable! I burnt a little over a trip to Spring Bay, and had the sunburn treatment…plus they gave me small pots of Aloe Vera (pure from the plant)….in 2 days my burns had completely healed!!! So that was really great! Plus the orange infused cold water is delicious!

BEACH/POOL/WATER ACTIVITIES:
GORGEOUS, CLEAN, TURQUOISE….TURTLES!!!!!! We went swimming/kayaking every day and saw turtles and rays. There's also a huge barracuda called Chester that's been inhabiting the reef for a few years now…but we didn't spot him (i'll admit it didn't really bother me to not come across this big guy). But the scenery is absolutely magnificent (i'm running out of adjectives to describe the place). There's this huge reef basically, and you just spend your days swimming, paddling, kayaking around it, with sea turtles popping up to breath.
The hotel provides snorkel, flippers and mask for free so don't bother taking your own if you were planning too )
We did the sunset cruise, snorkelling tour, spring bay beach drop and taxi to the baths…all were really well organised and we thoroughly enjoyed them!

GYM:
The gym facility is superb, there are loads of machines, and almost each are equipped with a screen and headphones. I spent my early mornings there (up at 6-6:30 and down at the gym by 7-7:30)

We will definitely be coming back. We loved it so so much! The food was delicious, the activities offered by the hotel were amazing and we just relaxed….and definitely did not want to leave.
I hope you have an amazing time here ! The hotel is ecofriendly and green, which is another bonus! The virgin islands are beautiful and nature is clearly the sovereign here, so let's keep it that way!
Remember: pack sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and your swimsuit and RELAX :D

If you are the type of traveler who has money to spend and is demanding of the hotel, staff, everything that touches your vacation than maybe this is the place for you. We didn't find it worth the price. We were looking forward to a quiet and romantic vacation. We were in a lovely room with balcony and great outdoor shower. When showed the refrigerator with sodas in it we were told those are complimentary and when gone that's it, really, for the entire stay??? any juice, no, no juice just diet or coke - big deal! Left a cell phone cord and called immediately while still on the island, no response. If they had called we could have retrieved it. I'd expect that from a lesser property but really, no call back at the very least. Food was OK, nothing exceptional, there's much better on the island. Massage that was basically being covered in oil and rubbed in, no response from management (and that's after paying in full so the folks would understand we were concerned for THEM and asked for and expected a follow-up call). The spa was beautiful, a walk up to take a look is worth it, the vista is remarkable. There are many beautiful and customer oriented hotels/properties in the BVI, the Caribbean, the world - next time we will try another.

Five years ago, we were fortunate enough to visit Little Dix Bay and thought it was a once in a lifetime vacation! My husband and I just returned from a second visit and it was even better than he first! The staff is wonderful. The food is delicious. It is a place to visit if you want to reconnect with your special someone. The grounds and architecture are magnificent. There are things to do, or nothing to do. They will take you to a neighboring beach or island where you are the only ones on the beach. There is a half mile of the most perfect beach we have ever visited and I have had the opportunity to visit many beautiful beaches. The only sounds you hear are the breeze in the trees, the water along the shore and on occasion, the Caribbean music playing at the pavilion restaurant. The spa is worth visiting for the location alone! Best massage we've ever had! I could go on and on.....it's truly perfection for a romantic visit. After thinking our first visit was perfect, I thought that it couldn't possibly live up to my memories. I was right....it didn't live up to them.....it surpassed them ten times over! Don't wait to visit!

We had come to Little Dix Bay 25 years ago, but had not returned since back then little kids were not allowed. We now came with our supportive of just talking and spending time with each other and relaxing. We never left the resort. Standouts: food. Utterly superb and consistent all week, all dining options. Staff: friendliest ever encountered, very competant. Manager: outstanding man, very down to earth and helpful. We will come back each year now as our family week--assuming we can continue to afford it!

We stayed only one night on our way to Necker Island but I would gladly return. The grounds are beautiful and the staff were very helpful. It is close to restaurants in Spanish Town. We did not try any of the water sports or the spa as we were only there for 24 hours.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive renovation and is scheduled to re-open in late 2017. The iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive, multi-million dollar restoration, which will be the most substantial beautification project since the resort was founded by Laurance S. Rockefeller over 50 years ago. The restoration will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants and overall enhancements to the resort’s gardens and landscaping. New York City-based Meyer Davis Studio will lead the restoration, working alongside Miami-based architectural firm OBMI. Together these agencies will honor Laurance S. Rockefeller’s unique vision of a luxurious hideaway set amidst the pristine backdrop of Virgin Gorda. The renewal will bring about a new level of sophistication in keeping with the natural setting, whilst introducing brand new signature suites for the ultimate in relaxation and style. A rebuilt Beach Grill will offer a one-of-a-kind beach dining experience, while the iconic Pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact but will feature extended indoor/outdoor dining areas. Guests will also enjoy an elevated arrival experience and the resort’s vibrant tropical gardens will be enhanced with new lighting, signage and improved access to Little Dix Bay beach. The renovation will also bring the addition of new restaurant concepts for The Pavilion, Beach Grill and Sugar Mill; new world-class amenities; elevated service standards and an increased focus on sustainability. Upon reopening towards the end of 2017, Rosewood Little Dix Bay will reaffirm its legacy as the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort. ... more   less
