This is one of the best resort hotels you can stay at! Service is great - the employees go out of their way to help you, always have a smile, and do whatever needs done. They have free shuttle service to 6 other beaches to snorkel, swim etc. There are turtles to see when you snorkel near the docks!

From the minute we landed at the Virgin Gorda airport we knew we were in for a treat of a vacation. The people from Little Dix were waiting for us with cold towels and drinks and making us feel like old friends. We arrived at our room and stayed in the same room category, beach cottages; pure heaven steps from the beach.

We just can't say enough about this resort. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are understated elegance, the spa luxorous with breathtaking views.

We will definately be returning for a third trip.

Room Tip: All the room categories look wonderful. Most of the rooms on the beach.

We stayed in a cottage on the ocean, steps from the water. Great lounging area on our porch and on the beach. We loved the free daily beach drops and snorkeling with turtles right on our own bay.

There were families, older couples, not very many young people.

The resort's restaurants were good but I'd recommend trying other options on the island, especially as you can't see sunset from the resort and you can get gorgeous sunsets from some of the seaside restaurants.

The included breakfast is fantastic.

We just returned from a destination wedding at VG, BVI.

THe staff was excellent, and the venue beautiful.

But,.... The facility is very dated and the infrastructure is very unreliable. We had no hot water for our entire stay, despite daily requests for repair, and the electricity went of our last day for about 12 hours.

For the prices we paid, we were completely underwhelmed. WE will never return and advise you to think twice or three times before committing to visit. All the plusses do not counter these issues.

Dear Tim L,

Thank you for your review of your recent stay at Rosewood Little Dix Bay. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the resort’s beautiful location and that you left with an excellent impression of our resort associates, we are indeed very proud of our team and their commitment to our guests and the resort. Despite this, the resort did experience some infrastructure challenges, which unfortunately could not be remedied during your stay. Clearly your experience was different from the various positive reviews we have from past guests and for this, I deeply apologize for not meeting your expectations. I would like to point out however that the resort does have a very robust maintenance program planned to begin during our closure from late August to early October of this year. The plan which will take place in phases over the next few years includes exciting new developments in public areas and facilities which will take our historic property back to the forefront of authentic Caribbean luxury destinations. Plans also include necessary improvements to our current infrastructure which will solve the challenges you experienced during your stay with us. We appreciate your comments both positive and negative as we will certainly keep your feedback in mind as we constantly strive to improve the resort, and more importantly the experiences of our guests. While we understand that you may not wish to return, we are confident that with the constant improvements we are making, and our continued commitment to our guests, we would gladly welcome you for a truly enjoyable experience at Rosewood Little Dix Bay.

Kind regards,
Dwight Sanford
Resort Manager at Rosewood Little Dix Bay.

There is nothing except perfection about this place! We just returned home from 6 day stay at Rosewood to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in the Junior Suite (#41), and it was perfect! Just steps away from the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. Chrystal blue, calm waters everyday that we were there. There was never an issue with having a beach chair right at the end of our "path". The beach was never crowded and noisy, it was always peaceful and combined with the breathtaking view, just so relaxing to be there.

Our room was immaculate, the entire time we were there. Housekeeping would sneak in at all the right times and make it look new again. Very cozy! I don't know why it is called a "junior suite" because it is huge! The bathroom is spacious, and there are plenty of places to stash all of your stuff. The outdoor shower is amazing...I was a tiny bit nervous about using it because there were windows right above from the room above us. If I had a suggestion, it would be to do something to hide that shower from those windows. We spent most of our time on the HUGE porch looking out at the beautiful grounds. If we were on the second floor I think we could have seen the water from our porch, but honestly, we didn't care. It was just as beautiful where we were at!

The staff handled every request we had...1) We like sleeping with a fan at night. So, we chanced it, and called to see if they had one. We had one in our room within minutes. 2) We bought a styrofoam cooler at the local grocery store to keep ice and drinks in. We asked someone at the bar where we could get ice, she not only called to get us some ice, but they delivered us a "real" cooler full of ice that we kept all week for beer and waters. We bought beer at the grocery store because it was cheaper, and then took the cooler to the beach. 3) After we went diving, some of our stuff got a moldy smell to it. I called Room Service to see if they happened to have White Vinegar, and of course they had some and delivered it to us within minutes. 4) We wanted to stay in our room and watch movies one night instead of getting ready and going out. We went to the front desk and asked for a tv, we had a nice size tv brought to our room and hooked up within minutes! I am sure there are other things that I cannot remember, it is just obvious that everyone there wants to try to do anything they can to make you comfortable.

The prices to eat at the resort are high...but they are high at every resort we have ever been to. I don't think they can be judged on their prices because they are really in line with anywhere we have ever been. We were actually impressed with the fact that they didn't price gouge us for a pot of coffee in the mornings. We were at Atlantis in the Bahamas for Memorial Day and a pot of coffee in the morning was $17. And, you had to wait about 30-45 minutes to get it. Here, at Rosewood, the pot of coffee was about $7 and we got it within minutes of requesting it! That is a big deal to us because we drink a pot of coffee every morning. You could get free coffee if you wanted to walk to the Beach Grill in the mornings, which we did a couple of times. But, most of the days we got some delivered.

We dove with DIVE BVI and we will give them a separate AMAZING review. But, for this one, I just wanted to say that having their shop right there on the beach and being able to walk right out and leave each morning is VERY nice!! Since we were at unit 41, we were very close to the dock and that made it even nicer. You couldn't have a nicer Dive operation to have on your property. Professional all the way around!!

We rented a car for the week, and we were very glad we did that. Driving around this island is breathtaking..you have to stop every few feet for another picture! The 2 restaurants we ate at on the island were Coco Maya and The Baths, both were VERY GOOD, and the views were of course gorgeous!!

Just got back from my third stay at little Dix bay. How does it keep getting better???? My junior suite was to die for, the food excellent and the beach as quiet as a mouse. Just the way I like it. I never will go anywhere else. It is just the most wonderful place on earth. The staff was so friendly and knew my name after one day. I felt like a king!!! If you thinking about it....DO IT

The natural setting of Little Dix is amazing, the beach is one of the best resort beaches. Beautiful bay, the bluest water, lapping waves, soft sand. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms top notch,
The service is good without being intrusive. More frequent and flexible ferry service to and from the island would be helpful, you either have to want to stay at Little Dix for your entire trip,, or have access to your own boat to "island hop", we had friends staying at other places in the BVI, and moving around was a hassle and we racked up some charges for private transport.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive renovation and is scheduled to re-open in late 2017. The iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive, multi-million dollar restoration, which will be the most substantial beautification project since the resort was founded by Laurance S. Rockefeller over 50 years ago. The restoration will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants and overall enhancements to the resort’s gardens and landscaping. New York City-based Meyer Davis Studio will lead the restoration, working alongside Miami-based architectural firm OBMI. Together these agencies will honor Laurance S. Rockefeller’s unique vision of a luxurious hideaway set amidst the pristine backdrop of Virgin Gorda. The renewal will bring about a new level of sophistication in keeping with the natural setting, whilst introducing brand new signature suites for the ultimate in relaxation and style. A rebuilt Beach Grill will offer a one-of-a-kind beach dining experience, while the iconic Pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact but will feature extended indoor/outdoor dining areas. Guests will also enjoy an elevated arrival experience and the resort’s vibrant tropical gardens will be enhanced with new lighting, signage and improved access to Little Dix Bay beach. The renovation will also bring the addition of new restaurant concepts for The Pavilion, Beach Grill and Sugar Mill; new world-class amenities; elevated service standards and an increased focus on sustainability. Upon reopening towards the end of 2017, Rosewood Little Dix Bay will reaffirm its legacy as the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort. ... more   less
