“Paradise on Earth!”

We stayed here for our honeymoon in May 2005. From the romantic dinner for two on the beach to the afternoon on our own private island....sheer perfection! I hope to go back next year for our 10th anniversary!

My family had a great time in little dix.The boat trips to spring bay and cookout was a real treat.Boat trips to other beaches was complementary and fun.The spa and its pool was enchanting especially at sunset.Morning breakfast was delicious made for good energy to hike cowhill trail above the spa,a must for any hiker/explorer.Then if you just don't want to do any of this the little fix beach can by itself be most relaxing. The food is a little steep at night but lunch on the beach is reasonable and service caring. Service here is caring as the people of this island share its peace with you.Pay extra to fly there ,the ferry system can be a challenging adventure .This is a great trip,I would not take small children.Last but not least please go swim at The Baths.I shall return flying there.

It's been quite awhile since I've visited the resort, but I will never ever forget my time there. We stayed for only 4 nights, yet our visit left such a lasting impression. I loved the natural elegance of the accommodations, the low key ambience of the property, and the easygoing nature of everyone we encountered. I traveled alone with my adult daughter and we never felt out of place among the couples and young families. Everyone came together to share their island experience; the initmacy of the resort lent itself to this feeling of comradery. I have worked in the travel industry for a long time and have stayed at some pretty wonderful places, but my stay at Little Dix truly was a dream come true. It's a place to go and "just be." How many places can you say you visited and cried when you left? For me, it's just one.

Spent a lovely week here. The hotel Spa, food, beach drops and 5 star service were all great. One thing to note here, is the resort is not your modern, newly built experience. Think of it being more of a robin crusoe feel but with 5 start experience. The rooms are clean and spacious (walk in closets) but don't expect modern amenities like a TV or stable wifi. Which is also the appeal of the place. It really forces you to unwind and relax. They have a beautiful calm bay with great snorkeling and water activities. We saw rays and turtles and all kinds of fish. The beach is just a couple of steps away with plenty of palapas to rest under.

We stayed for four full days and wished we could have stayed another week!

We took the two hour ferry over from Charlotte Amelie on a Tuesday (Check the schedules closely if you are coming by ferry). The hotel driver drove us five minutes up the hill to the resort where resort director met us at entry by name. They brought us a rum punch at the reception desk and 20 minutes later (time to get to the room and change) we were at our beach chairs in front of our room. The staff from that moment on was fantastic! (The gardener brought me a fresh coconut to my room as I commented I had never had one right off the tree!)

The beach is just incredible and its great to be able to take the kayaks, hobies, paddle boards out as you would like. There can be a little wind but nothing like Ive experienced at other beaches. Service on the beach is a little slow but we didn't mind as its a huge beach so it took a little while for them to get from the restaurant to our chairs (small price to pay for quiet!).

We took a cab one day to the Baths and Devils Bay. I thought it was worth it, my husband didn't. We also did the Wednesday excursion to Spring Bay. We liked the BBQ they prepared and the steel drum band. The excursion can get crowded though, so know that you will be hanging out with other guests while you are at Spring Bay.

We also took the boat excursion to Long Beach. It was fine, but I don't think it was worth it. We loved the idea of a private beach but the beach wasn't as nice as the hotel's beach. The hotel's beach is so quite that you don't need to leave it.

We ate Sugar Mill one night and liked it quite a bit. Our service was great and you cant beat the ambiance. We went into town the other three nights (the sunset view is better in Spanish town).

We were a bit surprised by the "treehouse" room. We liked it but it wasnt at all what we expected. They were in pretty good shape but there were few things in the room that could use some touch up.

The only other downside is the time it takes to get there. Flying into San Juan is probably a faster route to get there than St. Thomas. We took the ferry back through Tortola and though it took three hours, it was a pleasant ride and we got to see a little of the other islands.

We can see why people come back here year after year!

Room Tip: The tree house rooms are less expensive but a little bit more rustic. If you want more contemporary...

Enjoy it all, the spa, the beach, the outside bar and dinner. The staff was professionally trained and very discreet. Amazing boat trips around the island and a beautiful snorkeling experience in the main resort beach. I had a great time with several friends and we all want to come back some day!

From the little flowers on the beds to the turndown service st night, it was fantastic.
Beautiful room, beautiful beach, beautiful location. If you want to relax, you can't go wrong herea! It was just steps from our room to the beach hat is lined with comfortable loungers and thatched roof shade cabanas. The beach arcs from end to end, maybe 3/4 mile. It never seemed crowded at all.they offer kayaks, paddle boards, and little sailboats for free use.
Our housekeeper, Sonia, has been there 28 of the 50 years the resort has been in existence- she was very nice! The rest of the staff was very nice also. I even entered the Pavilion dining area one night very near closing time. They still took care of me and I never felt as if they were rushing to get me out of there
The resort is stretched around the beach & can be quite a walk from end to end. They do have golf carts that you can call for or just start walking and flag one down as you walk. In the week, I only had to walk from end to end a couple of times.
The also have hiking/running trails, a fitness room, and tennis courts.
You can sign up for a variety of beach drops on different beaches & islands in the area. A boat will take you to a beach of your choice and pick you up later in the day. They will also pack a picnic lunch to take along. The beach drops are free.
Prices for food are high at the resort. You can go into town and pick up some food at a grocery store and put in the refridgerators in the room.
Rooms are slightly on the small side with limited storage space, but that's a minor inconvenience for the overall greatness of this resort.
I would definitely return to this resort. Gorgeous setting, relaxing, and fantastic!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive renovation and is scheduled to re-open in late 2017. The iconic Rosewood Little Dix Bay is currently closed for a comprehensive, multi-million dollar restoration, which will be the most substantial beautification project since the resort was founded by Laurance S. Rockefeller over 50 years ago. The restoration will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms and suites, its three restaurants and overall enhancements to the resort’s gardens and landscaping. New York City-based Meyer Davis Studio will lead the restoration, working alongside Miami-based architectural firm OBMI. Together these agencies will honor Laurance S. Rockefeller’s unique vision of a luxurious hideaway set amidst the pristine backdrop of Virgin Gorda. The renewal will bring about a new level of sophistication in keeping with the natural setting, whilst introducing brand new signature suites for the ultimate in relaxation and style. A rebuilt Beach Grill will offer a one-of-a-kind beach dining experience, while the iconic Pavilion and Sugar Mill buildings will remain intact but will feature extended indoor/outdoor dining areas. Guests will also enjoy an elevated arrival experience and the resort’s vibrant tropical gardens will be enhanced with new lighting, signage and improved access to Little Dix Bay beach. The renovation will also bring the addition of new restaurant concepts for The Pavilion, Beach Grill and Sugar Mill; new world-class amenities; elevated service standards and an increased focus on sustainability. Upon reopening towards the end of 2017, Rosewood Little Dix Bay will reaffirm its legacy as the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort. ... more   less
