A great hike that rewards you with a spectacular view of the BVI's from the viewing platform Wear a good pair of shoes, take a hat and water and don't forget your camera. I will be heading back up there again this winter. I never get tired of the view.

There are two entrances to VIRGIN GORDA PEAK, and they are located on the mountain road heading up toward North Sound and Leverick Bay Resort and Gun Creek. The trail is not difficult to climb, and you'll see much of the flora and fauna of the area while you climb to the top of the trail. You can see many of the US and BVI Islands spread before you if you climb the observation tower. Bring your camera and take a panoramic photo! The sun sparkling on the deep blue Atlantic Ocean and the bright turquoise Caribbean Sea are such different colors! This memory will stay with you long after you return home from Virgin Gorda!

A nice hike up to Gorda Peak. Park alongside the road and start at the trailhead. The path is up, but not too bad. The first part was rocky but smoothed out after 50 yds. Saw lots of butterflies and flowers. Even saw a small Garter Snake. Huge Silk Web Spiders made interlocking webs with their friends at the base of the trail near roadside. Neat to see unless spiders creep you out. At the summit of Gorda Peak is an observation platform that provides a 360 degree view of the island and surrounding waters. There are picnic tables along the way if you wanted to pack a snack. The views are worth the effort for a visit.

A really beautiful place to visit, all the islands in the British Virgin isles are lovely, real island atmosphere, crystal blue clear waters, amazing snorkeling and diving opportunities.

I like seeing the interior of an island instead of just the beaches. It was a nice change of pace in a week of activity. I wouldn't put it on the must do list. Its a long muggy walk and the vistas are comparable elsewhere. The wildlife, which included non-venomous snakes and hermit crabs, was interesting. If I went back to the island, I probably might not do the hike again. And, of course, do it early or late because of heat.
